2 Bdrm 2 Bath VIEW of the bay! BOOKED THROUGH APRIL 2014
Back by Popular Demand! (Actually we had an executive who rented this long term and allowed others to use the apartment when he traveled. But we lease for a minimum of 30 days.
We are not accepting bookings for this apartment until March when we …
We, a family of four with two teens, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this pretty and comfortable place. The Wharf is 8 blocks north, and there are several public transit options starting with the nearby cable car line. Being one block from the Washington Square area, there were lots of great places to eat nearby, especially Italian. The apartment had everything we needed, and watching the sunset from the deck, with a glass of wine and Alcatraz in the distance, was VERY nice. We would definitely stay here again if we were to return to SFO.
We have had the most fabulous start to our 5 week holiday in the USA, thanks in large part to this wonderful apartment, and our hosts. It was hard to tell when booking online just how far we were going to be from everything (we have been caught in the past with hosts saying they were close to attractions, but not being completely honest...). Everything listed about this apartment is accurate - we have been completely thrilled that our 3 kids (aged 11, 8 and 6) have been able to walk everywhere - and that there weren't many of the infamous hills in the way! The apartment guide is really informative, the beds wonderfully comfortable, and every useful amenity supplied - we really couldn't be happier that we booked here. Our only problem is that this is our first stop in our long holiday - and we don't think our other accommodation is going to be anywhere near as good as this. Thanks you so much Judy for a great start for us!
This condo is in a perfect location to enjoy all San Francisco has to offer. Our family of four ( two parents/two teens) were relaxed and comfortable through out our stay. We walked to all attractions and /or had easy access to the Bart & trolley services. The Hervall's are excellent hosts who make the whole experience easy and enjoyable. We would highly recommend this location to family and friends and rent again at this location upon return.
Note from the Owner: We are renting only for a minimum of 30 days.
We stayed here in May for a week it was myself, my wife and my 4.5year old son. The apartment was perfect for us. Just as described and as per photos. We had such a wonderful week in San Francisco. Weather was excellent (which always helps!) - but being able to sit outside on the balcony and watch the boats go by, as our son slept at night was so much more relaxing than having to share a hotel room.
Beds were comfortable, showers were always hot and nice an powerful. Kitchen was well equiped - although given the choice of excellent food within easy walking distance we didnt make much use of it!
We bought week long Muni passes $26 per adult, free for under 5's (if I remember correctly). Anyway, this got us free travel on the trams (best to do this early in the day before it gets busy) and also free travel on the rest of the busses etc. We pre-booked Alcatraz tickets - maybe sure you do - usually its fully booked for days in advance. We walked lots- and went to Coit tower, and Lombard street - both very close to the apartment.
The highlight for our son though was that we rented some bikes - and got him a tow-along bike so he was coupled to me but could still pedal. We then cycled to the Golden Gate bridge, across it, and to Sausalito where we had lunch and took the ferry home. All in about 8 or 9 miles cyling with fairly sensible gradients on cycle paths or really quiet roads. Very enjoyable indeed.
We didn't have a car so didn't need to make use of the apartment garage - although we did fancy doing a trip to Muir Woods which was harder to do without a car (but not impossible). We paid for the wifi access and that worked a treat too.
Before our stay in San Francisco, we had stayed South Bay Area (Palo Alto) and headed out to Monterey and 17 mile Drive, Carmel etc. This was a great trip too- and certainly do-able from San Francisco if you have a car. The aquarium in Monterey is excellent (better than the San Francisco one) - and if you pre-book tickets then you can skip the line when it opens! Make sure you watch Open sea feeding (@11 but get there for 10:45 to get a good spot). Its absolutely breathtaking!
Thanks to Judy for her hospitality, and reliable communication when we needed to check and confirm details.
All in all, an absolutely fantastic holiday, which we all look back on fondly, and do plan to visit again soon. Perfect location apartment, nice and quiet at nights - yet close to everything you could want to do. Many thanks, see you again
The Apartment was great! The owner Judy thinks of everything. We loved the neighborhood, hope to return soon.
We thought this apartment was even better than described. It was spotless, very comfortable and provided everything we needed. The views over the bay were sensational and our favourite time of day was sitting on the balcony with a glass of local wine watching the bay turn pink with the setting sun. The location of the apartment was fabulous. Buses and the cable car run virtually past the apartment that take you into the city and Fisherman's Wharf and loads of other locations.
The apartment is tucked up a small side street so there was no street noise but it is very conveniently located. It took us about 10 mins to walk to Fisherman's Wharf and it was less than 5 mins to walk to all the cafes and restaurants in Columbus St. We bought the 3 day MUNI passes and that got us onto buses, trolley cars and cable cars and took us everywhere we needed to go. We booked a couple of tours and used the Hotel Boheme in Columbus St as our pick-up point as that was a 5 minute walk away.
The owner Judy was extremely helpful and provided us with everything we needed to know for our arrival in San Francisco, getting to the apartment as well as dining and travel tips. We highly recommend this apartment, it really was a terrific place to stay.
THE APARTMENT AND THE OWNER JUDY ARE BOTH AWESOME. JUDY WAS THERE TO WELCOME US AND GIVE THE INITIAL TOUR OF THE PLACE. SHE WAS A PHONE CALL AWAY WHEN WE NEEDED HER. THE LOCATION OF THE APARTMENT IS CENTRAL TO EVERYTHING.
YOU WILL NOT NEED A CAR TO GET WHERE YOU WANT TO GO. EVEN THE NEIGHBORS ARE NICE. IT WAS GREAT WAY TO GET TO KNOW SAN FRANCISCO. I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A SECOND.
Great place - Great price - Great location! The apartment wasclean and very accomodating to our every need. We'll definitely look to rent it again the next time we're in San Fran!
This location was perfect for our family. The home had amazing views of the bay, along with Alcatraz. The cable car was steps away as well as Little Italy. Most everything was in walking distance. The home had everything we needed, as there were 2 adults and 3 children. It was bright, spacious enough, and nicely kept up.
My family of six stayed in this recently renovated, clean, and spacious two bedroom apartment for a long weekend. We loved that we were within walking distance of San Francisco attractions, eating establishments, bars and shopping, including a grocery, as well as public transportation to get everywhere else.
The apartment has a great view of the bay. I spent every morning watching the daybreak, the fog lift and the ships glide in and out of port from the giant living room windows and/or sitting on the deck. But once the kids were up, we were out the door for the day; only to collapse into bed at night.
The rental comes with a parking space in a shared tandem garage in the building that we could not use since we have a F250 extended cab pick-up truck (the street was too narrow and the garage space not deep enough), however we found a great parking garage around the corner on Filbert St. that was economical for SF and spacious ($75 for the three nights). The parking attendant was also very knowledgeable and gave us some tips on where to go and how to get around. My only complaint would be the comfort of the third "bed" in the living room; without a extra pillow top or cushion the converted futon was very hard. Other than that the apartment came equipped with everything we needed and then some. Also this apartment is a third floor penthouse, the stairs may be too much for someone with bad knees or other leg issues
As you can see from previous reviews, the location, views, cleanliness, etc, are top notch. I want to tell you a few things not covered. First, don't let the 3rd floor location scare you away. It is a short, easy 5 flights to the 3rd floor that was not a problem for this senior citizen and his wife. Second, do your shopping for pop, beer, snacks, breakfast items, etc. before you arrive. It's cheaper than the little grocery stores in the neighborhood and allows you to take advantage of the refrigerator and cooking appliances.
The air conditioning was a big plus since they reached record highs in May this year. The convenience of the washer and dryer helps cut down on the amount of clothes you have to bring and Judy is extremely accomodating and willing to make your visit special. As soon as you arrive check out the green notebook she compiled on places to visit, restaurants, etc. Truly worthwhile.
Make sure you visit the Catholic church around the cornor. It is where Joe Dimaggio & Marilyn Monroe were married and do eat in little Italy right across the street from there. Great food at terrific prices!
We know you'll enjoy your visit and will tell all your friends about the wonderful experience you had here.
If you don't have car but still want to see the City, this place is great. We walked everyday to Fisherman's Wharf, Embarcadero, AT&T Ball Park, Ferry Building, Pier 39, Union Square, Chinatown, Ghiradelli Square. And on one day, we ventured to continue on (by foot!) to the Presidio, Alamo Square, Pacific Heights, Nob Hill, and Civic Center. We did rent a car, but that was only because we had to see friends for dinner who live outside the City. And having a car was not a problem. There is covered parking included - just make sure it is a smaller car.
Judy, the owner was SO helpful and so friendly. She met us when we arrived and went over the apartment and told us that she was just a phone call away. Well, we didn't have to bother her. The apartment was well stocked, clean and there were enough towels (and then some) for everybody. I just couldn't find a bar of soap, so I scrounged around, but did manage to find one.
We had a great experience with Judy. She was very responsive and would definitely come back given the opportunity. Wonderful vacation!
Really great apartment in an extremely convenient location to explore SF. Judy was a fantastic host. The apartment was clean, beds were lovely and comfortable kitchen well stocked and the views from the kitchen/diner over the Bay were amazing. The parking was a luxury!
We would love to return and would highly recommend the property to others.
We needed a place to stay in The City for the weekend and generally have had good experiences with vacation rentals in the past. This one was at the top of the list of good experiences. The apartment was immaculate, the appliances all appeared to be brand new, the bed was comfortable, and of course the view was stellar on a weekend that just happened to be one for the Chamber of Commerce brochure with crystal clear blue skies! We would definitely rent again. The apartment is within walking distance of anything in North Beach, Pier 39, the Ferry Building and Union Square. Also, had a scrumptious dinner right across the street at Trattoria Contadina. Kevin and Gina, are 3rd generation owners and are doing an awesome job. It was just a wonderful, getaway weekend all around. Thanks Judy and Håkan!
