Charming Marina Garden Studio
This cozy, garden studio is located in one of San Francisco's iconic neighborhoods, the Marina, one of the few flat areas of San Francisco where you can walk everywhere and have somewhere fabulous to walk to. It is available for 2 adults and perha …
This apartment was in the perfect location! Chestnut Street is a short walk away and has a lot of great places to eat/shop. We enjoy walking and were able to walk to everywhere we wanted to go (Crissy Field, Ghiradelli Square, and even the Fishermaen's Wharf). Everything was clean and well kept. Cooking dishes, coffee maker, hair dryer, shampoo, etc. were all provided. The only small downfalls were the outside lighting (somewhat bright at night) and some noise from the family above. Overall I would recommend this location and would book it again if returning to San Francisco. We never saw the owner but all arrangements worked perfectly even with an early morning arrival.
My husband and I enjoyed this spacious, well equipped studio in a safe up market neighbourhood. Great location to shops, dining etc on Chestnut street and to bus stops for further travel making sightseeing a breeze. Although we didn't meet her, Shelley provided lots of helpful info eg we hired bikes for cycling from her recommended shop ( a reasonable walk). Only slight downside was the poor sound insulation - from Condo above movements and laundry adjacent.
I chose this because of the location. The harbor is a half a block away, stores are within walking distance and street parking was not a problem. The unit was very clean, cozy, country French style with good cooking supplies. The couch back drops down to create a
single bed. The apt. was very clean. It was easy to communicate via email with the owner.
Cell phone service sometimes cuts out but the unit has a land line for US calls. I hope to stay again!
The studio is very nice decorated. The technical equipment is very good. The owner is very friendly. The location is very good, close to the Marina. You can see the Golden Gate Bridge, a few yards away around the corner. The Fishermans Wharf is not far away (walking distance).
Unfortunately, the SF-bus drivers were very rude.
We had a wonderful time walking from the Golden Gate Bridge to Fisherman's Wharf. Our apartment was right in the middle of such an exciting neighborhood and we could walk everywhere. No car necessary.
The apartment was clean and the location was real nice. A car is definitely needed to visit SF and the Bay Area and parking was not a struggle but a daily nightmare ! On one night we parked the car next to the Museum of Fine Arts and during the night the car was broken into ! Without the need of a car it is a nice place to stay.
Great location and relatively FLAT! My husband has a trick knee and it was nice walking around the area. Even the hill up to Chestnut Street isn't too bad. Half a block to the #30 bus got us everywhere we wanted to go and the drivers are so nice and helpful. The "hallway" is rather strange, but added to the experience. The little garden is lovely and quiet.
One sight (and sound) that no one mentioned was the AWESOME Wave Organ out on the point. I found it on geocaching.com which is a fun treasure hunt game using your GPS - there is a geocache on the point. But even if you don't play the game, it is worth the 1 mile FLAT walk (round trip from the apartment). Go through the Yacht Club parking lot and walk out on the jetty all the way to the end. The Wave Organ is a work of art.
- Good price
- Relatively clean
- Linens and towels provided
- Owners are easy to work with
- WIFI and phone available
- Safe location and new Union / Chestnut streets for shopping and dining
- 3 part payments
- No shampoo (it is an all-in-one with body wash?)
- Question cleanliness of towels etc given it is not industrial strength laundry facility
- Some dusts behind bed and spider webs on lamp above dining table
- Poor to no cell reception signals
- Public transits: The MUNI pass is not compatible with all transit buses from here. Some trips took $10
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this very clean and quiet apartment. The photos and descriptions were accurate. Either by phone or e-mail the owner answered my questions. This was our first rental of a private apartment. For that reason we were a bit nervous. However, everything turned out well. We will do it again. The bed was comfortable. Our San Francisco friends said our rental is in the safest and prettiest area of the city. The marina area is where single women walk their dogs at night, a sure sign of a safe neighborhood. The bus stop is just a 5 minute walk from the apartment. I suggest getting a map such as Streetwise San Francisco. It is portable and shows all the public transportation options. I bought that before our trip and studied it a bit. Consequently, when I got to SF I could move around the city with ease. At night don't miss the Palace of Fine Arts, which is only two blocks from the apartment. A 10 minute walk from the apartment is Chestnut Street. Some of the best restaurants in the city are on this street. These include A-16, Isa, and The Tipsy Pig. We had delicious meals at all of them. You should make reservations for those. We also enjoyed a very casual restaurant, Super Duper Hamburgers. One afternoon we had a picnic at nearby Crissy Field. On that day we rented bikes at Fisherman's Wharf and road to the Golden Gate Bridge on bike trails along the bay. My wife enjoyed sitting on a bench with a view of mountains, the marina, and the Golden Gate Bridge, just one half block from the apartment. My wife wished the apartment had an iron and board. Outside of that, the place was perfect for us.
We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It could not have been closer to the marina and the bay. It was very conveniently placed for us as we were visiting family who lived one block away. There was a bus stop just up the street for buses in and out town. Public transport is great in San Francisco and we found it very easy to get about. The apartment is a 5 minute walk from all the shops, restaurants and coffee shops on Chestnut Street. We also liked the park and lake at the Palace of Fine Arts which was a block away.
The apartment itself was lovely. The owners had gone to a lot of trouble to care for every possible need and had also put useful guide books and maps on the shelves. The bathroom was clean and had lots of instant hot water with a powerful shower. There was a large walk-in wardrobe. The bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well arranged with all sorts of utensils and a table and chairs. It was on the ground floor with access to the back garden/patio, where we sat out having our coffee. However we didn't spend much time at the apartment because we had so much sight-seeing and visiting to do!
It was reasonably priced and also meant that we saved money because we could cater for ourselves some of the time instead of having to eat out as we would have had to do if we had stayed in a hotel.
Sistemazione TOP!
This is a great location to explore San Francisco and area. We stayed for 5 nights and were happy to call this apartment 'home' for days of exhausting sightseeing. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and the small garden area a nice place for wine or coffee. The owners provided good suggestions for making our stay comfortable through an informative book they personally compiled.
We arrived at the condo at about 9pm. The keys were waiting for us in the lockbox. Instructions were perfect. At first the "hallway" to the apt. was a bit strange, but upon entering the apartment we were very pleased. The apt was clean & cozy as promised. The photos posted had been perfect. We found everything we needed. Fully equipped kitchen, plenty of fluffy towels, bed was comfy, plenty of pillows & blankets. We felt right at home! Large walk-in closet, large bathroom, good shower. Owner had sent all info re apt & neighborhood. Parking was not an issue the first night, but daytime parking is a bit difficult. Owner provided info where to park overnight and during the day. The only negative is that the cell phone service is non-existent in the apt. but owner provides land line service. Would definitely recommend staying here! Marina District is beautiful...go for a walk at night along the Marina and get a peek into the beautiful homes on Marina Blvd.
Our only regret was that we discovered Chestnut St shops on our last morning. The Chestnut Bakery is "to die for"...don't go on your final day...go on your first morning.....egg & Cheese Croissant was fantastic!!
We enjoyed our stay at this delightful and spacious studio condo. It was nicely decorated, very clean, had a comfortable bed and well-furnished kitchen. Bus service was very good and great restaurants close by on Chestnut Street. Owner was very accommodating and provided useful information.
A great apartment in a lovely and safe neighbourhood. No need for a car, there is easy access to the #30 bus which serves Fishermans Wharf, North Beach, Chinatown and Union Square. We did hire a car for two days to go to Muir Woods, Santa Rosa and Gilroy (Factory Outlet shopping!), plus you really need to drive up and down Divisadero Street at least once :-).
The apartment is in an excellent location for going sightseeing or if you prefer a day on the beach it is only a 5min walk with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. You can actually walk to the Golden Gate Bridge down along Crissy Fields. Check out the Off the Grid on Friday nights and the Farmers Market on Sundays in Fort Mason. Some great restaurants along Chestnut Street (5min walk) as well.
Overall would definitely recommend this apartment. We stayed for just short of two weeks and it was a lovely home from home. Shelley had left plenty of literature on the area and San Francisco in general which was very handy.
We had no need to contact Shelley during our stay, I did run into her husband a couple of times and he is a lovely man, very friendly.
A nice touch from Shelley in that she did contact us to see if we were affected by the flight delays/cancellations after the airline crash at San Francisco airport a few days before our scheduled departure. While we were not impacted, I got the impression that Shelley would have helped us out in away way that was possible with accommodation etc
A perfect location away from the tourist zone but easy access to public transportation. Comfortable bed, lovely garden. Would stay again when touring the city. Nice place to come home to after a busy day of sight-seeing
My wife and I stayed at this fantastically located property for just 4 nights early June. It was no where near long enough. The studio had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The atmosphere is electric with the Golden Gate and Alcatraz in close view a stones throw from the apartment building, Public transport is just around the corner and the restaurants nearby are excellent. Everyone that lives here appears to be so happy - it shows with there friendly smiles and helpfulness. We hope to come back to SF one day and would definitely stay here again. And to Shelley, thank again for your concern regarding my forgotten belongings.

This place is perfect for a visit to San Francisco. Nice neighborhood, good local restaurants, very clean apartment, close to public transit, comfortable bed, wonderful decor, and provided with anything you would need. The owners, Shelley and Steve, were fabulous! We showed up at the wrong address (my fault), and Steve drove us to the correct location. Another day, we accidentally locked ourselves out of the apartment, and Shelley went out of her way to get us another set of keys. They were super accommodating and SO FRIENDLY!! This was the perfect place for me my husband, and our 9 month old to stay! Every night we would walk around the Palace of Fine Arts, right down the road!! I can't say enough about how fabulous our experience was--highly recommend it!
This was a lovely studio apartment in a great location; comfortable, good space, quiet, well appointed-and the shower was excellent. Morning runs by the bay; Dynamo Donuts and Chestnut Street Roastery coffee while I cooled down and relaxed on a bench; quiet neighborhood; easy access to public transportation-YEAH, we would stay here again and again.
BTW, awakened one morning to sounds of the Wave Organ-a real treat!
Really liked the place, easy to find, really quiet, huge closet.
We have nothing but good to say about our recent stay. We rented this unit for 15 days. It was a half block away from the bus stop (which we used extensively) and approx. 5 blocks from a good variety of restaurants and shopping. The neighbourhood was so quiet and if you take in any tours it is a ten minute walk to a Super 8 where tour companies will pick you up.
The unit itself was well stocked, very clean, and just the right size for a couple. You have all you need if you decide to do your own cooking. We also found it less expensive than renting a hotel. It truly felt like a home away from home. The owner was quick to respond to all of our questions and easy to communicate with. We have already recommended the place to a couple who want to travel to SF in the next year. It was perfectly situated for leisurely sunset walks along the Marina with views of Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz.
If we were ever to travel back to SF, this would be our first choice.
We absolutely loved this property. It is in beautiful location with lots of little shops and places to eat and even though we didn't rent a car during our stay we were able to walk quite easily to wherever we wanted or use the MUNI. The apartment was immaculate, extremely comfortable and nothing went wrong during our stay. Thank you!
My wife and I just spent a wonderful week in SF and this studio apt helped make our trip. The location is perfect. We had never been to SF so we were not sure where to stay. The Marina District is beautiful and we are so glad we stayed here. We took a taxi from the airport ($50) and didn't need a car for the rest of the trip. You can walk to Fishermans Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts, Cable Car terminal, parks, etc. Great area to walk, jog, and bike. There is a bus stop just a couple of blocks too. We took the cable car to Chinatown and North Beach and then took the bus back. There are tons of restaurants on Chestnut St which is a short walk from the apartment. We always felt safe walking these streets. The studio is perfectly functional, clean, comfortable, and again in the perfect spot. Great bathroom, full kitchen, awesome bed, and a big closet. Flat Screen TV and the wireless internet works great. Our AT&T phones had zero signal but there is a land line we used. You will not regret staying here.
