My partner and I stayed at this apartment with our 15 yr old son for 6 nights during the last weeks of August 2011.
The location is second to none. If you are considering staying in the centre of Rome and have been put off by the prices this is the place for you. Having stayed in Rome before at a premium hotel on Campo dei Fiori I knew this time I didn't want to compromise on location as the weather was going to be hot. I really didn't fancy the idea of having to walk into the centre or catch public transport everyday. Here, you are literally 2 minutes from Campo dei Fiori or the river, 5 minutes from Piazza Navona and only 10 minutes from St Peters.
We took a taxi from the station and found the apartment easily following the owner's instructions. It's located on a quiet street in a historical building that has a pretty and functional courtyard. It's on the third floor accessible by a lift or the elegant staircase. It has good air con and heating if you need it too. There are 3 rooms and a bathroom; a lounge with a comfortable/easy to use sofa bed, a second bedroom situated on a mezzanine floor that you access from the kitchen using a spiral staircase that has two single beds, and a small dining kitchen.
Although the apartment is compact, it feels bright and airy. It was clean and had everything we needed - pasta, cooking oil and other bits and pieces. The owner wasn't around when we stayed but we were taken care of by the concierge and stayed in touch with the owner by text.
There's a Despar (7/11 type of shop) round the corner which was open all of the time. There is an excellent restaurant across the street although we gave that one a miss and used two smaller but just as good restaurants within 60 seconds walk. One to the left and one to the right (Restaurante Monserrato) as you exit the building. Don't miss Forno on Campo dei Fiori for lunch, their pizza bianco with italian ham is to die for!
The negatives? The plumbing wasn't quite as good as it could be but it didn't cause us any problems, it's what you get is an old building! And there was some noise one night as one of the residents had a small dog that didn't seem to want to be quiet. But this was only one night and where ever you stay, whether in a hotel, apartment or B&B you will always get some noise from other residents.
All in all I felt that we got fantastic value for money and really enjoyed our stay. We will definitey book again the next time we visit Rome.
This is a great location in Rome! We walked to every major site. Really, location can't be understated-- only about 15 minutes walk to Colloseum, Vatican, Trevi Fountain. Maybe 10 minutes to Piazza Navona. Via Di Monseratto and Via Giullia are both very historic (If you have Eyewitness Rome book, see "guided walks")
Supermarket is behind the corner and Campo Di Fiori only 3 blocks away(Forno bread is amazing). Perfect place if you want to save some money and cook at home. Has all necessary utensils for cooking.
Leonora(the owner) is really warm and helpful and waited for us to arrive from airport to give directions to apartment and keys.
Bed is comfortable and the apartment complex (Which by the way looks like a museum) is secure and quiet at night .
Great stay overall!
