In the territory of the ancient Etruscans: within half an hour to one hour distance from Rome, Spoleto, Orvieto, Assisi, Perugia, Todi, Viterbo, Civita di Bagnoregio, Tarquinia, Bolsena, and Vico lakes.
- Why Le Terrae?
The Best of two Worlds: All the availability and ease of communication offered by rental agencies based in the US, plus the knowledge and personal touch of dealing directly with the owners: The owners are two siblings: one lives in Italy, and one in the US. You can count on a direct contact and point of reference with one of us both prior and during your trip. Save 40%+ by booking directly with verified owner.
Savings: By renting and managing our properties directly we can keep our prices lower than comparable properties rented through management agencies: an average 40% savings or more that we pass on to you. The advantage for us is to get to know directly our guests and to keep Le Terrae's character of private homes that are occasionally opened to friends and family.
Le Terrae, on three levels, can comfortably accommodate eight to ten people, but can be wonderfully spacious for a couple. Well furnished, entirely floored with terracotta tiles and finished with hand-painted ceramic tiles in kitchen and bathrooms, the villa has all the warmth and comfort to make you feel at home.
A spectacular round staircase in the heart of the villa features a spiraling wrought iron handrail, painted in a very Mediterranean shade of blue. Windows on the staircase allow light to flood the steps and play geometric games on the cool terra-cotta floor.
The second floor living area complete with fireplace, couches, stereo system, and abundant lighting provides the space to socialize or to just wind down and relax. Villa Le Terrae is unique in that it has large living spaces and yet it also has many cozy niches perfect for those wanting some individual time.
After a full day of excursions, experience, the quiet of one of the covered terraces, enjoying the pleasant breeze that rises from the valley while sipping a glass of good wine. Perhaps on occasion, taking in distant sounds of a festa or fireworks in one of the nearby hilltowns.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE REGION
The landscape of Tuscia is characterized by the warm colors of the underlying volcanic rocks. The fertility of the soil and the richness of water produced the lush vegetation, with the dominance of oaks (Quercus robur). To the West are remains of the ancient Ciminian Forest of the Etruscans, so thick and mysterious to be feared by the Romans. In this enchanting natural scenery the ancient hill towns seem to be spontaneously raising from the volcanic tufa cliffs.
You can discover a still relatively unknown part of Italy, in the heart of a territory rich of historical and artistic legacy: Etruscan and Roman necropolis and sites, Medieval historical centers, Renaissance palazzi and gardens, and, of course, Rome - by a 40-minute train ride.
