About the home:
A home that’s as clever as it is beautiful? May we introduce Rue Mallet Stevens, an apartment of true refinement. Hidden away from prying eyes, with views out onto an ancient cedar, these gracious rooms are filled with fine furniture and vivacious oil paintings. The kitchen is a studious burgundy and the bathroom a verdant green, both with mesmerising ombré letterbox tiles. Design enthusiasts must visit the Fondation Le Corbusier, then if the weather’s clement take your volume of poetry to the Jardins du Ranelagh and let your inspiration grow.
Your hosts are a cultured pair who’ve lived in Ghana, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. They’ve put down roots in France, but still travel extensively overseas visiting their children and grandchildren.
Look and learn
With its generous proportions and acres of white, there is something of the gallery to this home’s sitting room, and indeed, the walls are adorned with gorgeous works of art. Tall windows illuminate seating for six, and you’ll spot a number of fascinating objets and curios, from the neatly-lined statuettes to the bright globe.
Both bedrooms are doubles, the master a veritable symphony in taupe, caramel and chocolate, the guest room enlivened by a gloriously witty mural of marching ants. Your hosts describe their home as a havre de paix, a haven of peace – we couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
