Location, location, location! A quiet apartment right in the middle of everything; just a few minutes walk from the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Picasso Museum, the Pompidou Museum, the Ile St. Louis, and the Hotel de Ville, just to mention a f …

I have delayed writing this review because I have mixed feelings about my experience. Carlos was easy to deal with and lived up to everything that he promised. The apartment was as seen in the photos, but was not really to our liking as we found the bathroom to be quite dirty and the shower had mold around the caulk lines which made me feel uncomfortable. The kitchen was fine, but during our stay the freezer broke and began to leak water into the apartment below. Carlos came to defrost the freezer but we also had to cooperate with him and clean up some of the water, chip off the ice, etc... something that I do not look forward to doing when I am on vacation. I am sure that Carlos has the best of intentions and I am sure that he has resolved all of these issues since our summer visit, but it is important to be truthful and let people know of our true experience. That being said, once again I repeat that Carlos is a stand up guy who does what he says. The apartment is as advertised and seen in the photos. The only negative of the apartment is the (5) flights of stairs that can be an inconvenience if you have to navigate them several times per day, especially if you have small children or elderly relatives visiting. The location of the apartment is great with lots of diversity in the area, great food, easy access to the metro, and anything else you may require. It can be noisy at night in the warmer months as there is no A/C in the apartment so sleeping with the windows open at night is a must. Enjoy your stay if you decide on this apartment.
We had a fabulous stay in Carlos' apartment! It is even roomier than it looks online. Great location central to everything, tranquil area of Le Marais (close to everything fun, but actually a quiet street generally), comfy bed, pretty view of rooftops over Paris, super close to Metro stop, good shower, nice kitchen. We loved it and we would absolutely stay here again! Carlos is super helpful and very easy to be in touch with. He gets back to emails/calls very promptly, he helped us with neighborhood recommendations for dinner/markets, and he's just generally an easy and great person to work with. Thanks, Carlos!
We enjoyed our stay in the apartment very much. Carlos was responsive and clear in his communication with us and the booking process was smooth. I paid the deposit by an international bank transfer which I hadn't done before but there were no problems. The apartment is on the fifth floor which obviously means a lot of stairs but the view over Paris rooftops more than compensates. Inside the apartment is nice and light and bright and the windows in the bedroom and the living area can be opened right up when the weather is good. The apartment is clean and well equipped. The kitchen has everything you could need for cooking, the wardrobe has plenty of good quality wooden hangers and there is a clothes airer for drying laundry if you prefer not to use the tumble dryer. We used the free wifi which was very fast and we were also able to make free phone calls back to Australia which was great. The bed and the sofa bed are very comfortable and the bed linen is super soft! The bookshelf has a good selection of books in English. The Marais is a fascinating place in it's own right but it's also a good base from which to explore Paris. There is a metro station less than five minutes walk from the apartment and we found this was the quickest and easiest way to get everywhere we needed to go. Don't hesitate to book this apartment if you're planning a trip to Paris. If it's available for your travel dates book it now before someone else snaps it up!
The pictures accurately portray the apartment. It is more spacious than other apartments I've rented in Europe. The kitchen was very well stocked with Utensils and appliances. Since I arrived early and interrupted the cleaning, I know that it was well cared for. The apartment is very conveniently located near a main street as well as the metro. As a suggestion, get a metro map ahead of your visit. I quickly learned the system and would recommend for getting around. The bed was very comfortable and on a vacation, sleep is important. Carlos communicated well about the transaction Although I did not meet him Which came as a surprise to me. He did however send an email follow up upon my arrival. Despite the language difference, the cleaning lady provided me with the keys as well as pointing me in the general direction of local necessities such as the metro and a market. I may have overlooked this detail in the listing but this apartment is on the fifth floor and requires about an 85 step walk. Since this apartment is in the heart of the Marais, it is an active area one that has noise late into the night Which tapers off during the week around 1 AM. There was construction across the street and the workers began working at 7 AM, which meant an early start to my day. None of these are within the control of the owner however just something future renters may want to keep in mind. In any big city however peace and quiet is a challenge to obtain. I loved the washer and dryer availability, the full kitchen, and the comfort of the bed. The bakery at the end of the street is wonderful. I would recommend the poppyseed rolls. The Lebanese restaurant at the corner is very good as well. The location honestly couldn't be any better. I did enjoy my stay here and would recommend it to people who can manage the stairs and the noise level.
Apartment was warm and cosy during our snowy week in Paris! Very comfy double bed and good sized kitchen. Great location in Le Marais, fantastic Falafel from the many vendors on Rue de Rosier and great sandwiches from Finkelsteins Deli. Plenty of excellent Bakeries, selling wonderful Patisseries and Breads. Also it was very convenient to be a 2 minute walk from St Paul Metro station. The apartment and area feels authentically Parisien and not overly touristy. Carlos was a friendly and attentive host. Would stay again when visiting Paris.
We spent a week in the apartment at the start of July. The location is excellent - so close to many stores/supermarkets/restaurants - and just a few blocks from Saint Paul Metro. The bakery by the Metro is excellent, they had amazing sandwiches - perfect for a day sightseeing. Just a great experience all the way around. It is convenient for everything - we caught the RER and metro from CDG and had a short taxi ride to Gare Du Nord (for the Eurostar). Carlos is the perfect manager; helpful and available. The only trying thing was the stairs, but I even got used to that.
My husband and I just spent 2 weeks in this Marais apartment (June 2011) and we loved it. It was exactly as the pictures showed. Yes, the 6 flights of circular stairs were tough after a day of sightseeing, but that's part of living in Paris! There were 2 locked doors at street level to get through before your own apartment door so we felt completely secure. We loved being able to open the windows in the living room and bedroom to hear the sounds and feel the nice breeze. I had to dry/curl my hair in the bedroom because I couldn't find an electrical outlet in the bathroom, but there's a full length mirror with outlet below it in the bedroom so it worked out fine to sit on the edge of the bed and get ready. Don't forget to bring your plug converters! There is an entire wall of closets in the bedroom, so we had ample space to put our things. All appliances worked as needed, you just have to figure them out. My husband read the manual for the washer/dryer and then he was fine! There were 4 towels provided, but no washcloths so we bought two at the Monoprix. We loved the Marais, and this apartment is only 2 blocks to the Saint Paul metro stop, so very convenient. We could easily walk to the river and Notre Dame, and we walked to the Louvre as well. There are at least 5 bakeries within several blocks (Paul and Miss Manon on Rue de Rivoli, but our favorite was at the corner of Rue de la Verrerie and Rue du Bourg Tibourg just east of Hotel de Ville, where there is a little area with 4-5 cafes too), as well as 3-4 food markets and the bigger Monoprix is only a block or two further. Just a tip...the cafes stop serving food in the late afternoon until about 7:30 so if your plan is to eat early (between 5-7) to avoid the crowds later in the evening you might have problems. As with all apartments, we could hear the people above and below us at times, as well as traffic/people on the street, but again that's part of Paris. We also appreciated the free long distance to the US so we could talk to our children! Overall it was exactly as we expected and we would rent it again. So much less expensive than staying in a hotel, and a good way to feel like you're actually living in the city.
Truly the best apartment we have stayed in. All the amenities you could want with that little extra personal touch to make it homely and perfect for a holiday break. An absolute pleasure to stay here and have already reccommended it to friends going ito Paris in a few weeks. Thank you Carlos!
My husband, 6-year-old daughter and I had a very nice stay in Carlos' Marais apartment. The location is great; convenient to shops, the metro (St. Paul) and restaurants, and within walking distance of the Centre Pompidou, Musee Picasso, Ile St. Louis, Notre Dame and the Bastille area (Don't miss the Sunday market on Richard Lenoir just north of the Bastille). The kitchen is small but well equipped with pots, pans, utensils, etc. but you'll need to buy seasonings, oil, etc. if you plan to do alot of cooking (which we did since we were on a budget). The bed was very comfortable; the pullout less so (but fine for our daughter). Overall the apartment is small but was fine for our small family. And having a view over the rooftops makes the rooms feel larger. Because it's on the fifth floor, there is lots of light. Yes, you have to walk up all those flights, but it's worth it for the view and light. The t.v. , DVD player and wifi worked perfectly. And Carlos is very pleasant, responsive and accomodating.
We stayed here for half-term with our teenage daugter and friend. The apartment is small but perfectly formed and has everything you could want for a short break. So much better value than a hotel where we would have needed two rooms. You are, as the description says, in the heart of the Marais which is a great spot for shopping, restaurants, bars (try the Au petit fer à cheval around the corner for early evening drinks) and the St Paul metro station. Carlos was immensely helpful and met us at the apartment to show us around even though we'd pulled him away from a restaurant! We were glad that he'd taken our bags up for us as it's five flights of narrow stairs up - but once you've made the climb you will be rewarded by views of Parisian rooftops, quiet nights and your own little place in the City of Light for a few days at least.
This adorable apartment was perfect for 3 girls - would have been a little tight with a 4th person. Very warm and cozy and made it feel less like we were "visiting" and more like we were living in Paris. Free internet and telephone calls to the US - which was a huge and unexpected perk. Would definitely stay here again. Only info to consider - it's a walk-up and the stairs are pretty steep. If I remember correctly, it's about 5-6 flights. So, think twice before packing a heavy suitcase. On the plus side, we were able to get our workout in after a long day/night of eating and drinking! Wonderful place, Carlos is great and very responsive. Stay here!
We've been to Paris three times and this was by far our best experience with accommodation. The location was great with everything at our doorstep (easy walk to Notre Dame, Pompidou, metro, boutique shops, cafes, supermarkets, boulangeries and the bustling jewish street). We were traveling with our two year old son so it was great to have an apartment as opposed to a hotel room to give us some extra space. For a week we felt like true Parisien residents. The completely self contained kitchen was especially good for us. The apartment was in good condition and very clean. Carlos was also great to deal with. Prompt with all enquiries and the check-in process was very easy. He was also able to provide us with information on the local area. We will be recommending this apartment to our family and friends and hope that one day we can return as well.
The apartment is in fantastic location in the heart of the Maret! Beautiful to stroll around and easy to get around town! Plenty of shops and restaurants just near by what is perfect after a long day running around town! The apartment is very cute and well looked after! It is light and friendly and offers all the amenities one could ask for! The washing machine and dryer are a great plus! We felt a lot more comfortable than staying in a hotel - our own little piece of Paris! Arranging everything with Carlos was easy and convenient. He replied to our queries promptly and in detail, welcomed us upon our arrival and was very helpful! We can highly recommend his services and will definitely get in touch with him again if we return to Paris anytime soon!
We had a really great time in Paris! The apartment is perfectly located in a quiet street in a beautiful, lively district of Paris with lots of restaurants, shops etc. and it is only a short walking distance from almost everything - the Metro is only two minutes away and it is the line that brings you to almost all the main sights. Hard to find a better location! The apartment is great, just perfect for two and has everything you might need, including dishwasher and hairdryer. It's really bright and tastefully furnished. We really recommend it and would choose it again for a future trip. Really loved it. Thank you Carlos for all your help etc. !
