Ile Saint Louis - Loft-Like Apartment with Lots of Light
This is a building that was constructed in 1642 in the heart of the Ile Saint Louis. One of the rare old buildings on the island that has an elevator — keeping the style of the old and the convenience of the new.

We just got back from spending time at Karen's wonderful apartment. This was a fantastic place to start our 1st trip to France! The apartment is very roomy and had more than enough space for our family of four (two adults and two young adults). The description and pictures are accurate. The location is very central to all of the sites we wanted to see. It is only a short walk to the nearby Velib stations and Metro stop. There is a wonderful baker a few doors down the street. The apartment had all of the amenities we needed for our stay. It was a pleasure to work with Karen, she was very helpful throughout the process and checked in with us during our stay to make sure that everything was going well. There is a small grocer nearby, and a larger store a short walk away. Good breezes through the windows from all sides. Helpful small elevator after a long day of sightseeing. Very nicely decorated space. I have already recommended this place to my friends. Merci Karen!
I stayed with my parents and my newborn son for one month (August) in this wonderful apartment. The owners could not have been more accomodating! If they had even an inkling of a need, they sought to meet it. The apartment itself is very light, comfortable and spacious. It has everything one could need. And the location could not be better: it is central and being on an island is quite magical. Anything you could possibly need is right next door, including Notre Dame and the Seine! Our main concern before arriving was that it did not have airconditioning (tough for August). However, even during very hot days, due to the cross ventilation (windows on all sides), the thick walls and the shade system on the windows, it was never hot inside. On the contrary, it was surprisingly just the right temperature. We did not even need to use the fan that was provided. There is not one thing negative that can be said about this rental! We highly recommend it and would come back in a flash.
This was my 8th visit to Paris, my husband's 3rd and my daughter's 1st. I expected quite a lot from the property and the property just exceeded my expectation in every way. I cannot wait to go back. The views beautiful, kitchen very usable, bedrooms comfortable, baths great, views superior, location - the best ever. I found the crosisant and baugette shop, grocer, cheese shop.(right downstairs) run and walk along seine, residential enough and busy enough. Shorter walk to metro then I expected, walk to right bank, left and Notre Dam. Great runs and walks along Seine. I felt like a celeb every time I walked into the charming building. My college daughter and her roomate came and went safely at will. The elevator was such a convenience in an old historic building (for carrying bags and just tired at the end of the day. Karen was so helpful with all kinds of tips and anything we might need (from art exhibits, to best cheap, and expensive restaurants, and chocolate shops, markets, umbrellas, using washer/dryer, two great tv's. Everyone loved it and could not believe our good fortune in connecting with Karen. I have stayed in small charming places and 5 star hotels on the right bank. THIS WAS BY FAR THE BEST PLACE THAT I EVER STAYED IN PARIS. We had enough room to spread out and chill in privacy. We made a dinner and invited a French couple my daughter knew from her studies.(dining room was nice and large) Nice to have coffee and breakfast in the apartment and it saved a fortune (we could all eat and drink breakfast at leasure instead of group project). Wine and cheese before going out in the evening or after sightseeing, shopping expedition. Every ammenity was supplied with so much thought and consideration. A list of contacts etc (just in case) was provided but not needed. Paris is such a large wonderful beautiful city that we left having things that we wanted to do and see but did not have the time. We will be back and I will arrange my next trip around the availability of Karen's property - it was that good! Merci Karen from all of us!!!
The apartment couldn't have been in a more ideal location. Easy stroll to Notre Dame, walk to Pompidou, cross birdges to either Left Bank or the Marais. Excellent restaurants and superb ice cream.
It was nice that there were actually three bedrooms which allowed our teenagers to each have their own rooms. The apartment was comfortable and clean, included everything we needed. Special pleasure was breakfast shopping. Note the fruit market with fresh squeezed orange juice, the amazing cheese shop, and don't forget the wine store.
We had a great Paris visit and would happlily stay in the apartment again.
Many thanks to Karen, Gerard and the lovely daughter Lauren.
What a fantastic apartment in the heart of Paris! Very comfortable & roomy space with a nice size kitchen/dining area and living room. Wonderful shops and restaurants are just steps away. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Can't say enough good things! My family will be back in Paris and staying here in the summer of 2010!
