very quite location two minutes walk from Ponte Vecchio

The apartment is just two minutes from the Old Bridge,
in Guicciardini Street, direction Pitti Palace, in the third gallery on the right, the palace where Machiavelli house was situated. It is a very quiet, inside apartment.
It is located on the …

Our family of 6 just stayed in this apartment. It's a short ride from the train station and quite literally at the foot of the Ponte Vecchio bridge and across from the Pitti Palace, so a fantastic location. The apartment is very nice and clean. We liked having the large table in the middle of the apartment. Mery is a wonderful hostess. Very friendly and very helpful. She helped us set up a great cooking class. I liked the fact that there are two locked gates before you get into the apartment building, so it was very secure. Having two bathrooms was great. Best apartment rental in Florence!
I have previously stayed at this property and chose it again for my return. And that, should be your biggest clue about this apartment. It is in a perfect location, near the Ponte Vechio, and so easy to find if you are new to the city. It is in a safe and now quiet part of town, facing a pedestrian street. There are numerous great restaurants nearby. And you can get groceries very reasonably at a store near the bridge as you come in at night. As one makes your way deeper into the Oltarno, you will find the places to eat and the off the beaten path shops and good deals. Mery and Salvatore have a great place here. I have only been here in March, and the heating cooling controls are very intuitive and easy to use in any languàge. The clothes washer took some thought but was exactly like mine was in Budapest. The apartment is spacious and the owners are gracious. It is clean and very secure - behind a triple locking system. The elevator is usual for €urope and therefore - small. If you and your baggage can't make it in one trip- you brought too much. The baths are clean and tidy and functional. The linens have been purchased anew since my last visit. The kitchen and dishes are pure standard Ikea. I was able to easily make coffee and toast or other lite fare daily and so save some €. When you first arrive, or prior to getting there - let Mery know when you want to go to the different galleries - particularly the Ufizzi. This will get you a preset entry time and you miss the lines. Through one of M's contacts we went to Siena via bus and had a personal guide - all for about € 110. Much cheaper than a herded bus tour. So, rent this place, and then worry about how to see "all" of Firenze in a week, or even a month. I cannot. But where you stay will be much much easier if your headquarters is so centrally located. And if your host is so helpful. But no, she does not do matchmaking, as one person requested. But Florentines are an open, chatty bunch. You can do that on your own! Just don't dress in tennis shoes and sweat suits. You will look "too American!"
My mother, husband and I stayed here for six days. Mery and her husband are kind and helpful; they answered all our questions, made great recommendations and helped us figure out trains and taxis. Don't miss their shop. The apartment is charming and clean and huge! With three big bedrooms and two bathrooms we had all the space we needed and more. The living room is comfortable and cozy, and the kitchen has everything you need for cooking, although if you are like us, you will be eating mostly gelato and won't need much more. The location is ideal. It is literally steps away from Ponte Vecchio and only a few minutes' walk to the center of town. It is practically around the corner from the Pitti Palace This means that you can stop off in the middle of the day to recharge your batteries without making a long trek back and forth. There are tons of little shops (Mery's included!) in the immediate neighborhood, so it is worth spending some time browsing. The grocery store is also very close, along with a bakery, restaurants, and, of course, the gelato. I would absolutely recommend this place to a friend or relative, and next time I go to Florence (soon, I hope), I plan to stay here again.
Our family of 6 had a very comfortable stay in Mery's apartment. It is a great location right next to the Ponte Vecchio. It is walking distance to everything in the area. There are 2 great super markets nearby that had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The apartment was exactly as advertised, and very clean. We felt safe with our four children, and would definitely return to stay again in this apartment. Our dealings with Mery and her husband from the planning stages to checkout time were pleasant. Thanks Mery for a wonderful stay in Florence. In all our travels in Europe over the last month, we want to return to Florence the most, so that says a lot about our experience. Thanks again.
A friend and I stayed in Mery's apt in Florence for 3 days 9/12. It was a perfect ending to a 10 day whirlwind tour of Italy. The location is perfect, steps from Pitti Palace, restaurants, a grocery store, shops and the Ponte Vecchio. The building does front onto a busy street (isn't that part of the charm?) but the back bedrooms were nice and quiet. The apt. is clean, spacious and a welcome change after tiny rooms and hotel stays. Felt more like "home". Apt. includes a dishwasher and clotheswasher (having clean clothes during a long trip in very hot weather is a definate plus!). There's an elevator (another plus after lugging bags up and down stairs in other locations!) and we felt totally secure in the locked and gated building at night. Free WiFi that actually works! Mery and Salvatore are wonderful hosts, helping with taxis, restaurant and shopping recommendations. Mery recommended Casalinga restaurant, a very short walk from the apt and one of the best "local dining" experiences we had (the Florentine steak and desserts were great, service friendly and attentive). Mery's ceramics shop is not to be missed as well. It is clearly the best and most beautiful in Florence and has alot of quaint charm of it's own..and it's on the street level floor of the apt so they are right there to assist you if you need anything. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Florence as a wonderful part of the experience! Thank you Mery!!
This spacious apartment was very comfortable for our family of 6, and is ideally located for exploring Florence on foot. Mery is the perfect hostess. There are fabulous restaurants and an amazing gelati shop within a few minutes walk. We would absolutely stay there again on a return visit.
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely apartment. Mery was the most accommodating host I've ever encountered. Thanks for making our stay stress-free! It's also a few minutes walk to my favorite pizza place - Gusta Pizza! I will definitely recommend this place to all of my friends.
My husband, brother and mother stayed at this rental for three days. Mery was the most helpful person we ever came across in Italy. Her English was perfect and all of her recommendations were spot on. Mery had beautiful ceramics that we bought as well. We traveled through several cities in Italy and Croatia over our 16 day trip and Mery and one other are the only two that will get my business again.
Our family group of 6 spent 10 days at the apartment (ours was the apartment with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, there were also two sofas in the living area). Mery, was very helpful with any questions, answering questions before and after we arrived, and once we were in Florence arranging taxis to catch early flights home. She and Salvatore made us feel very welcome. The apartment was clean and comfortable, simply furnished, and with space for the six of us. The front of the apartment facing the street was noisy for us at times; the two back bedrooms were very quiet. The small elevator was apreciated to move suitcases. We were there in May so the weather was not too hot. The location of the apartment is perfect, within minutes you are in old Florence, and there is a very good, well stocked supermarket just around the corner. We enjoyed the Oltrarno neighborhood, as there are many artisan shops and restaurants to visit in the quiet backstreets. There are also 3 of the top gelato shops in Florence within a couple of minutes walk, all of which we visited many times. The wifi worked perfectly too. We recommend the apartment as very good value for a 3 bedroom place that is central to all that Florence has to offer. Thanks again Mery.
We rented this sweet apartment for four nights for our family of five. The apartment is spacious, well-furnished, and close to everything. The renters are friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed the hospitality and the spacious apartment - definitely the most room we've had for this price anywhere around Europe.
Our very happy ten day stay in Florence was much enhanced by the location of the apartment and by Mery and Salvatore's attentiveness. Everything was within easy walking distance, including the excellent restaurants they recommended. The apartment, while basic, was spacious and comfortable. We appreciated being able to prepare some of our own meals. In addition, the washing machine was a blessing. We strongly recommend Ponte Vecchio Apartment.
Lovely compact apartment in perfect location and walking distance to all parts of Florence. We were 7 people (including two 75+ year olds and a 5 year old) and we all found Mery's apartment comfortable, clean, quiet. There were 5 single beds and a double bed in 3 bedrooms with a full bathroom and 2nd toilet/washroom. There is a small elevator for luggage and those will limited mobility otherwise an an easy 2 flights of stairs. The location is just over the gold bridge (Ponte Vecchio) opposite Palazzo Pitti with many lovely restaurants close by as well as a supermarket. All bedroom windows have roll down wooden shutters that keeps the outside noise to a minimum, fully equiped kitchen and free wifi. Mery is a lovely hostess and an excellent source of information about Florence, what to see, where to eat and how to get around. Overall great value and would recommend to all.
I have just read a negative review on this site and although its been a while since we stayed in Florence I feel I must write in defence of Mery and Salvatore. We rented an apartment from them last July and we're really delighted. The apartment slept 7 people perfectly and the kitchen, living area and dining area were more than adequate. The building couldn't be more perfectly situated and part of the pleasure of staying there was 'having to' cross the Ponte Vecchio every day! As for Mery and her husband, they were nothing but helpful. We had a couple of minor problems with a stubborn shutter and the dishwasher and Salvatore fixed them in no time at all. They are always ready to help. It is true that the room at the front of the house was noisy especially in the early morning when there are deliveries to nearby shops. My daughters and my niece solved the problem in two cases by actually getting used to the noise and sleeping anyway and in one case with ear plugs! But I really feel it would be impossible to find a quiet place in the centre of Florence in summer and it is a very small price to pay for all the other advantages. Future renters should not be put off the one negative review.
Four of us, including my elderly father, stayed in this apartment in late October, 2011. The location is absolutely perfect and the apartment was very comfortable and spacious. Mery and her husband were excellent hosts and very helpful with numerous details of our stay. There are wonderful restaurants and shops within steps of the apartment's front door, and even a decent supermarket just around the corner. And of course, it's close to most of the major tourist attractions. Our only quibble with the listing is that it says there are 2 bathrooms, but in fact there are only 1 1/2 baths. One bedroom had a large queen-sized bed and the other two bedrooms each had two twins. The kitchen was well-equipped, though we had some trouble with the burners on the stove. On the whole, a delightful visit and at a reasonable cost compared to many other apartments we considered. We would definitely recommend this place to others, especially if you have a group of 3 or more.
This apartment is very roomy and so close to everything. The new supermarket is great. I made my own caprese salad which was just as good as those for 9 euros! We enjoyed the place so much when we found that we were able to extend a day we did. Mery is a wonderful host!
Mery, I just wanted to stay Thank You for being such a great host. We had a wonderful trip to Florence. Your apartment is great And having the elevator was really a plus. It was so nice to use for our luggage. All 6 of us enjoyed our stay. We loved having breakfast at the bakery across the street (or sometimes down at the end of the block). The restaurant next door had wondeful lunchs. We could walk down to the Ponte Vecchio in just a min or 2, and cross the river right into the heart of historical Florence. The Pitti Place was one block the other direction, it was great fun to see. We located the grocery store 2 blocks away, across from the Ponte Vecchio entrance which was also a great find. And we all loved your ceramic shop! Thank you so much for taking such good care of us.
