Great house for families/friends, or business retreat in Oakland hills

3 Bedroom, 2 full bath house with beautifully updated kitchen and eat-in area for up to 7. Enjoy al fresco dining and relax on large patio surrounded by beautiful garden. Heat lamp and grill included. Master bedroom and bath on separate upstairs …

Comfortable home in the Oakland Hills, perfect for the night's rest after seeing the Bay Area's sites. A much preferred option than a hotel for our family (of five) vacation. A spacious, clean kitchen, a comfortable living room, 3 bedrooms and a private yard and patio made this home the perfect home away from home for our stay in the Bay Area.
We had such a great weekend at this beautiful house. Family came from all over and enjoyed the comfort of the house and the peacefulness of the backyard garden. Everyone felt very at home here. The neighborhood is lovely and one of the best in Oakland as far as safety and beauty. Its super close to rockridge and the bart station but still set back in a quiet environment. Thanks for a wonderful weekend!
I recently stayed at this lovely house with a group of friends (three couples, two babies, one three year old) when we were in Oakland for a wedding. The house was perfect -- the rooms are beautifully put together and each room affords everyone their own little private area. With three kids in the house, two of them babies waking up all hours of the night, we really needed something that would accommodate all of us and that's exactly what we got -- we were enormously relieved each morning to find that no crying babies had disturbed anyone's sleep. The kitchen is a fantastic gathering spot, as are the deck and backyard. The owner of the home could not be more gracious or helpful. In my sleep-deprived state I left several items, which she graciously found and mailed back to me. Chuck in the exquisite views of the Bay and San Francisco at sunset, the beautiful neighborhood and comfortable beds and this spot can't be beat! On top of all of this, there's an adorable high-end grocery store nearby, a lovely area with restaurants etc., and a really sweet park and playground. We were in and out of San Francisco and it was incredibly easy. Thank you so much VRBO for introducing us to such a great spot, one we'll surely visit again!
I recently rented this house for a group of friends who were coming to town. Kathleen, the owner, was very nice and informative. I got such a good vibe from her, that it was one of the reasons I chose this property. The house was exactly as described and the photos were all accurate. We loved the big, beautiful backyard. I would absolutely recommend this house to others, and my friends have already talked about renting it again in the future!
Excellent accommodations, amenities, view! Beds were comfortable and the home was clean. I would stay there again.
My husband and I recently rented this property for ourselves and some guests at our wedding. Kathleen's home essentially became the bridal suite. This home is beautiful, charming and the amount of space was just right. We have received nonstop praise for the home by our guests and those who stopped by on our wedding day. This home is conveniently located near a smalll business area. We are very familiar with the area because we live near there and can tell you it is a safe and relaxing neighborhood. The home is also priced right. What made the experience most enjoyable was the owner Kathleen. She was very prepared, welcoming and a wonderful person all around. If you are planning a stay in the Bay Area, we would certainly recommend this home. We wish we could get married every year so we could stay in Kathleen's house.
We recently moved from the Bay Area and this was a perfect home to settle in for a weekend with a reunion of our grown sons from both coasts. The occasion was seeing a Cal football game in the newly remodeled stadium. The house is charming, cozy and just like the photos. The owner is gracious and so helpful, the house was very clean and the yards are beautifully maintained. We would love to return again and would certainly recommend it to our friends and relatives.
My 2 cousins and I needed a nice place to stay which would also be a good place to have some people over who live in the bay area for an informal get together. This lovely home more than lived up to our expectations and satisfied our needs perfectly! Neat, clean, bright, spacious without being enormous, with a great kitchen and backyard garden which was perfect for entertaining guests...we can't say enough nice things about this home and Kathleen, the owner. She was so helpful and left us all kinds of good information to make our stay easy and just like home! The location is super, not far from airport and BART and the Bay Bridge. We would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice, real "home away from home"!
Not much to say here, except: Rent this place! We were 3 adults, a toddler and a 6 year old, and it was a great solution for our 3 night stay. But - this would be the kind of place that would be *superb* for a week or two, or even longer. It is stocked with great furnishings, kitchen stuff, Wifi, beautiful, bright rooms, and plenty of places to lounge (including a couple decks, yards, and a TV lounge in the basement. We even had a small garden party with old Berkeley friends, where the outdoor patio was a perfect setting (with fruit trees, top-of-the-line furniture, barbecue, and even outdoor heater!) You'd probably want to have a car, if you stay here - although there is a bus service to Montclair just a couple blocks away. Also - there are steep stairways to upstairs "master room" (although there's a very nice room at ground level, as well), and down to the basement. The owner is quite nice, as well - supported our stay and kept in touch by email or phone as needed. If there were 6 stars, I'd give that rating. Jim Toronto, Ontario

      Castro Garden Paradise
This is an AMAZING renovated seven-room, three-bedroom, 1.5 bath single family home in the Castro District in San Francisco! It is filled with original antiques and furnishings which were chosen to provide an authentic Victorian experience for our guests. The property includes a private driveway with an automatic gate leading to a parking area that will accommodate up to 3 cars! Be aware that off-street parking is really essential if you’re traveling with a car in San Francisco – even if there is street-parking available, most residential neighborhoods limit non-resident parking to 2-hours.

The 4,000 square ft. garden with a detached garage, and potting shed is virtually unheard of in the City. The yard has a brick BBQ grill, and is filled with mature trees of all sorts including figs, avocados, and plums. The home was moved to its current location after the 1906 earthquake on a sled pulled by horses! The tool shed on the lower-level was originally the house’s horse stable, and was in use until the early 20’s. We purchased the home from the family that moved it to the property over a hundred years ago!

You enter the house on the main-level through the beautiful living room with walls lined with photos of the original owners. You then enter a hallway with the staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms. Each room has a queen-size bed and is furnished with additional antique pieces. Heading down the stairs, you enter the dining room with a lovely round oak table that can be extended to seat six. Off the dining room is the third bedroom / office / media room with a queen-size sofa-bed, a 55” LED flat-screen television, HD cable, a Blu-Ray player, and a comfortable desk with an all-in-one printer for your use. Note: Although this is a 100 year old home, it is equipped with all the electronic bells and whistles including a full home-automation / security system, and very high speed (50Mbs) WiFi internet access.

At the rear of the house off the dining room is a large “Julia Child” vintage kitchen which is fully stocked for cooking and entertaining. Just off the kitchen is a small foyer leading to a full bath and the staircase to the lower-level. On the lower-level there is a separate toilet, wash sink, and full laundry facilities. The laundry room leads to the former stable with access to the garden.

The garden is truly one of the best features of the property. It is literally a million-dollar lot that was never developed, and maintained as open space. This provides a unique tree-filled tranquil area that will make you forget you are in the middle of a bustling city!

The home is on a tree-lined street in the heart of the San Francisco where you will find amazing shops, bars and restaurants. It is a wonderful area to explore on foot, and there is ready access to public transportation: Walk Score: 95, Transit Score: 98! The MUNI Metro Stop is 1 block away next to a terrific park with a great children’s playground. The Metro will have you downtown in 15 minutes, and the house is 5 minutes by car away from Highway 101. We have lived in this neighborhood for over 25 years and we LOVE the area, and you will too!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
