Cheerful Cottage on Petaluma River near Wine Country & San Francisco
A great location to relax and getaway, or as a home base for your Bay Area Adventure. Enjoy watching the birds in the marshes of the Petaluma River. Just 1/10 mile down the road is a boat launch for kayakers, boaters and fisherman. A short drive t …
This is a fabulous choice if, like me, you dislike the congestion and prices of the city. This rental is a very comfortable bungalow with a full kitchen and a large private deck. The deck is equipped with propane BBQ, lounge chairs, and table. My wife, and daughter and I spent several afternoons just playing board games, and enjoying the view at the table outside.
It is located right on the edge of a marsh area with a view of the waterway. The area is full of birds particularly swallows. So, if you are anything of a birder; bring your binoculars and camera.
Importantly, we found the property to be very clean. The bed is extremely comfortable and the shower has all the hot water you will need.
We found the owners to be courteous and helpful. For the price, I don't think this quaint accommodation can be beat. For full disclosure, there is a set of steps that could be a challenge for someone that would have a problem climbing a couple flights of stairs. And, it is a quarter mile from a bridge that has some traffic noise. But, it is far quieter than being almost anywhere in the city.
We (family with 4 month daughter from germany) stayed 3 weeks and had a perfect vacation. The location is just ideal for family-vacation. Its a really quiet place to stay just at the waterfront of the Petaluma River. Marin county is full of small really nice little towns(Novato, Mill Valley, San Rafael,...) great to chill out and goin out for coffee or dinner. There are tons of other things to do with great hikes, even better MTB trails, awesome beaches and the winecounty just close by. Going to the city(SF) by ferry is just the best.We enjoyed so much havin a glass of wine on the deck of our Cottage after a busy day in the streets of San Francisco. The Cottage got everything you need and is really well equipped, especially the kitchen. It is in great shape and super clean. We loved it. Jim and Randi were perfect hosts and helped whereever we asked for.Thanx for everything!
In March I was able to leave New England for some wonderful California weather. I didn't have the money to spend on a hotel in San Francisco, and plus I wanted something a bit more relaxing than an urban stay. I found this guest cottage to be perfect for my needs -- affordable, close to all sorts of adventures, and a beautiful setting on marshes surrounding a long dock to the river. Which isn't to ignore the guest cottage itself -- immaculately clean, great propane fireplace, comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen. I loved to make a pot of coffee in the mornings and sit on the deck planning an outing for the day. I took a ferry into San Francisco (an easy 15 minute drive to the ferry station), enjoyed tours at a few local wineries in Sonoma, hit some cute shops in downtown Novato, and took great hikes in the hills overlooking the ocean. I highly recommend this cottage -- it's a great find, and I definitely would return there.
We booked our stay so we could celebrate Thanksgiving with our Daughter and family..The owners were easy to work with and had everything all set up for us. Kitchen was well stocked, dishes, pot, pans, condiments, etc..All we had to bring was our food. Shops are within a few miles and the interstate is 1/2 mile away...But wait there is more...The living quarters were immaculate and cozy..Warm gas fireplace for those cold nights..We woke to beautiful sunrises every morning right from our bed..A large deck for entertaining and a boardwalk to the river, where they had kayaks for us to enjoy..We kayaked from there right into San Francisco Bay..Being close to the interstate would bring visions of lots of noise, but there was none..Very quiet and we had a wonderful stay..We are planning another visit with our daughter soon and will definitely stay there for sure..
