We had a great time at this house in the late fall by the lake. The weather was cold (as expected) and we even saw some snow flakes fall in early Nov, which was exactly what we were hoping for as we are from a tropical climate and thought it would be fun to try something different. The house was warm, clean and very cosy. The 2 rooms in the house had double beds so it was alright as we shared but it might be smaller than some would expect.
We did encounter some trouble finding our way there, even with a GPS, especially as we arrived after sunset. I recommend that if you're visiting, plan on arriving before sunset. It was absolutely pitch black with no lights in the area. Even when we walked around to find the right house, we needed a flashlight to find the house number as it was slightly lower than the neighbors house as the driveway slopes downwards so we missed it the first two times in the dark and had to turn around once we realized so.
My wife had an urgent work email to send to a colleague as since there was no wireless available (we knew about this) or even cell phone signal at all (we didn't expect this). We ended up calling Paul from the house's landline (a calling card is required to place a call beyond the area) to ask for a favor and help us send along the email, which he kindly did. That was a lovely gesture. This is the only major improvement we suggest - add some sort of internet connection available. We found out the next morning that if you drove out to Elmore Road a mile or two away that our cellphone and data signal returned. But we didn't want to do that in the pitch black and cold the night we arrived.
We hope to be back in the late spring when the weather is warmer and the leaves are back. it is a lovely place to spend the weekend exploring the area and relaxing / playing board games with friends or you could also spend a week there in the summer if you have kids!
Renting this lake house was such a nice experience. Fully equiped with absolutely everything one would need, we settled right in, relaxed, read, listened to the loons, watched the mountain and lake change throughout the day (made possible because of all the windows overlooking the lake and the fact that the house sits so close to the lake's shore) and, basically, simply enjoyed the magic of Vermont. I hope we will be able to come back soon. Absolutey no complaints.
Loved the privacy and having the lake outside the back door to gaze at . Would love to visit in warmer weather to use the hot tub and go swimming. The flowers on the kitchen table when we arrived was a nice touch
Loved the location of the house on Lake Elmore. If the house had better amenities for cooking, eating and drinking it would have enhanced are overall experience.
