Apartment itself and the building are very nice. The apartment is very large for NYC and it is very nicely decorated. The furniture was comfortable; however, we did not use the murphy bed or pull out couch so I can't comment on them. There are TONS of dining options, grocery stores, coffee shops, drug stores in walking distance. The bus stops right in front of the building and there are 2 train stops within a block. And of course, Central park is 1/2 block away. 86th street is a major artery for the UWS and so there was TONS of traffic at all times of the day/night and the street noise into the apartment was quite disruptive. There is a hospital kiddie corner from the apt so lots of sirens as well. Luckily, I never travel without my trusty earplugs. The apartment had only 1 roll of toilet paper upon check in which was half gone. No extra garbage bags or paper towels. To me, these things are necessary staples in a vacation rental. There was not a frying pan, but 3 stock pots??! I discovered you can make a grilled cheese sandwich and scrambled eggs in one if you have no other options. The apartment does not have cable television but it hooked up to satellite so local channels SHOULD come in, but they only came in on the bedroom tv. But with the street noise, you could only hear it if you blasted it. The bedroom has blinds in the windows, but there was still a lot of light coming in so we hung a blanket over the window which helped dramatically. Check in in Midtown went smoothly, but it was out of the way for us. Again, the location was very convenient and the apartment itself is very nice, but the lack of staples (paper products), the noise level and lack of cable tv, the place seemed over priced to us and we probably would not stay there again.
