Retreat to a Quiet Home Near the French Quarter
Retreat from a full day of New Orleans' excitement to a historic 135 year old home in
The Marigny, two blocks outside of the French Quarter. It sleeps 8 — 10 pp. (3 night minimum)
This home is conveniently located to Frenchmen Street. The trendy …
I stayed in a party with 3 adult couples this past Fourth of July weekend. When you initially pull up to the house it appears very average and small. However once you step inside you are absolutely amazed at how spacious and beautiful the place is. The home came equipped with all the comforts of home, from linen to dishes and cookware. Pat Bouligny the owner is available at all times of the day and night to answer your questions before your check in, and then Pam is there to answer your questions during your stay. The house is located a short walk from the French Quarter so there is no need for driving once you arrive. Best of all the price that was quoted on my contract was the price that I actually paid, there were no hidden costs or surprise fees after check in. We cant wait to come back next year.
We, a party of four adults, stayed here for a week in late May. The Bouligny House is not the place for people who demand "cookie cutter" rooms in a hotel with a grand lobby and immediate access to a McDonalds and a Pizza Hut. The Bouligny House is for the wayfarer and experienced traveler who seeks out what is unique. To that experienced traveler the house is a rare treat and an exceptional value.
The home is almost a century and a half old, and the exterior has been preserved in its heritage as a "cajun cottage". On the inside Pat Bouligny, the charming owner, has completely remodeled the entire facility. There are two bedrooms with comfortable queen beds and two bathrooms one of which has the old cast iron tub which is great for a soak esecially when accompanied by your favorite wine. There is a living room with a flat screen TV and wi-fi, a dining room, and a very well equipped modern kitchen. The backyard has been made over to a beautiful garden patio often visited by colorful butterflies and birds. We all enjoyed sitting there in the early evening with our favorite libation.
The immediate neighborhood is roughly two blocks from the French Quarter. Its lacks the Quarters noise and the unplesantries of rowdy drunks. Neighbors respect each other here and things are quiet after 10pm. People in the area are friendly and never miss a chance to reccomend places to visit.
Within walking distance there is a sizable number of really good resturants which are less expensive and just as good as thier counterparts in the French Quarter.
If you choose a local area tour we found that most companies would pick us up for no additional cost. Parking is a breeze and our car was never more than 50 feet away from the house.
We all reccomend the Bouligny House without reservation and will be returning ourselves to this enchanting and delightful home.
This is my second year in a row renting the house. i am thrilled to have been able to come back here and i'm starting to feel like pat and pam are family. the house continues to be amazing, the space, the location, the quality of service. i am so thankful to have found such a home away from home. thank you for having us. can't wait to do it again next year.
My travel party of four came to New Orleans for the women's final four. We like to rent homes when we travel, it is more relaxing then a hotel. We really enjoyed staying here you really are within walking distance of everythng, Bourbon if you like the party scene, Decature if you like food, and shopping is all around. The neighbors are very friendly. The owner Pat is very easy to communicate with and the manager is extremely nice. The home is very spacious (we rented both units for our stay) and quiet, the courtyard was beautiful, we enjoyed coffee there every morning. If you want to enjoy the flavor of NOLA then you should consider staying here. We enjoyed our stay and would do it again if and when we get back. Kandi
We cannot say enough about how absolutely perfect the Bouligny House is for a place to stay in New Orleans. The house itself is wonderful but the location could not be better! It is literally 2 blocks off of Bourbon Street and approximately 8 blocks from the French Market. There are many restaurants within easy walking distance, including Le Peniche less than a block away & Port of Call 3 blocks away. In spite of it's close proximity to all the "action" it is very quiet at night. There is a bus stop near by & cabs are prompt to respond but it's also fun to walk as much as possible to enjoy the scene. Beautiful courtyard with fountain, good TV & WI-FI for those interested in kicking back once in a while. All in all, one of our very best experiences with VRBO. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Our only disappointment was dinner at Antoine's. Terrible, terrible meal and over the top expensive for what you get. We definitely would not go back & would not recommend it!
We cannot wait to go back because our week went waaaay too fast. We think NOLA is now our favorite place to vacation and we are in our 80's! Thank you Pat & Pam.

This house was absolutely perfect for us! We rented the whole house for 3 couples and had plenty of room. The pictures definitley do not do it justice. The house was much bigger than I thought it was going to be. This was our first time in New Orleans and Pat gave wonderful suggestions which was invaluable. It was only a short walk to Bourbon Street and Frenchman Street which is what I loved most about the location. We were able to experience it all with the ability to get away from the craziness as well. The courtyard in the back was great and an added bonus. I highly recommend this house. It was fantastic and we will definitely be back again! Thank you Pat for opening your home to us. I look forward to coming back again.
Myself and 6 other girlfriends stayed at the Bouligny House to celebrate our 40th birthdays in October of 2012. I can't say enough about what a spectacular space this house is to rent!!! The owner as well as the property manager were both very hospitable and friendly. The house itself was just a few minutes walk to both Frenchman St. and Bourbon St. as well as the French Quarter. Our group of friends enjoyed many nights of live music, local charm and great food along Frenchman St. We also did a traditional pub crawl along Bourbon St. to ensure we weren't missing any of the New Orleans experience. We enjoyed shopping in the French Quarter and buying local art. We also enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Mississippi.... What a wonderful place to vacation. Due to the size of our group, we rented both sides of the house and found it to be very spacious and clean. We also enjoyed many cups of coffee and mimosas in the beautiful courtyard. Thank you Pat for opening up your vacation home to us. I would stay there any time I came back to New Orleans and recommend it to all those who have the opportunity to vacation there in future.
Our group came to New Orleans to celebrate a wedding and spend a little time afterwards exploring the city. We couldn't have been happier with our stay in The Bouligny House. What a find! We rented the entire property, and on our first walk-through of this lovely home, we found that each room and the patio looked like they could be featured in Home and Garden magazine. The entire home was neat and clean, beautifully decorated, and well-appointed. It was obvious that the property has received years of tender, loving care. The location is perfect, too. No car is necessary since restaurants, coffee shops and music venues are within easy walking distance. The owner, Pat, made booking the property super-easy, and she was a delight to work with. Her goal is to have everyone who stays at The Bouligny enjoy their stay, and she certainly met that goal with us. Her property manager, Pam, may just be the friendliest person in NOLA! She met us for check-in and helped us feel right at home from the start. In short, staying at The Bouligny House was a wonderful experience. You can be sure we'll recommend it to others, and hope we can come back again soon ourselves.
Never having been to New Orleans before, we were extremely pleased with communication with Pat in preparation for our travels. She was very helpful with all of our inquiries and accommodating with our scheduling needs. This continued during our stay in the form of the property manager. Every part of our trip, beginning with this, far exceeded our expectations.
As for the location, it was perfect! Far enough from the French Quarter for us to feel comfortable with a group of teenagers, yet close enough that we were able to do our daily grocery shopping and enjoy the sights. Daily excursions were easy to get to via trolley, bus or by foot. It was a wonderful retreat in the midst of a city full of tourists and lively entertainment.
The house itself was not only spacious (for a group of 10!) but also immaculate upon our arrival. Everything we needed to prepare meals at home, entertain ourselves in the evenings and sleep 10 comfortably was on hand. We were pleased to have a place that truly felt like home.
Not only would we all recommend this property, but also agree that if any of us have the opportunity to return to NOLA, we will most definitely choose the Bouligny House for our stay.
We were so happy with our stay at the Bouligny House for Jazz Fest this year. The photos do not do it justice. It is much larger and brighter than it appears on the web. The Neighbors were friendly, the parking was easy and we could walk to Frenchman street in just minutes. We loved our stay! See you again soon....
