Marigny Hideout on Frenchmen
This quaint little house is nestled in back of the courtyard with its own kitchen, apartment-size fridge, full bath (shower only). The bed is a cozy queen. Private patio includes a bistro set along with shared usage of the 5 burner gas grill. …
this was our first time to New Orleans and we really lucked out with this place. great location, super cute and functional. we have used vrbo many times in the past and once again we are so glad we did here too! highly recommend for 2 people wanting to enjoy New Orleans.
The casita matched the descrition perfectly. It was the size that was explained, but was nicer than I expected. Our flight was canceled and Ginger was able to quickly add another night onto our trip without any hassel. She was very reliable and quick to respond.
Great little place to park it for a brief stay in N'Awlins! Much better than a hotel. We went to see our daughter who lives in the Treme (doesn't really have room for 2 people). My husband and I had enough room, it was romantic as well. Walking distance to the Quarter, Frenchmen St, Marigny and Bywater places. Only minor issue was with heavy rain - the lovely brick patio didn't soak up the puddling water, which seeped into one of the doors. We laid a towel down, and that was that (no big deal at all, but maybe something to look into?). Lovely little spot to sit outside weather permitting, and parking was available within the neighborhood (just not always in front of the home).
Hi Anne....I just wanted to let you know I have tried to review your property 4x now but there appears to be a glitch in the VRBO sight where it doesn't let you click on a star to rank the property and also wont let you submit the review without a ranking.
"We recently rented both properties of the Marigny-Bywater Hideout and could not have been more delighted. Both homes have all the charm, quaintness and comfort anyone could ask for. The beds are magnificent! The homes have a true Nawlins feel right in the heart of New Orleans jazz district. For us, the location could not have been more superb. Blocks from the action yet far enough away to find peace if you wanted it. Both the owner (Anne) and property manager (Ginger) were gracious and accommodating. We really could not have been happier and if we are fortunate to return to New Orleans we will with out a doubt be staying at the Marigny-Bywater Hideout again!"
Couldn't have been happier with this place. Description and pic's were accurate, place is even a touch nicer than pics. Seemed they had addressed some of the feedback or suggestions left in previous reviews. Dealings with the owner and manager couldn't have been easier; owner was quick to respond to inquiry (can't say the same for other rentals I looked into for this trip) and process was painless, the manager contacted me a couple of days before arrival and was there to greet us with keys upon arrival. Frenchmen street is a great place to stay, I knew we'd be ending our days there listening to music there each night, the place is a block and a half from the heart of it so a short walk, yet very quiet. Look forward to staying again on my next visit.
Went for the weekend with my boyfriend. It was the perfect location to enjoy many tourists spots within walking distance. Cute and cozy (small) but just enough for two people!
We couldn't have asked for a better location. A few short steps to all the hot spots on Frenchmen street, and walking distance to the French market and French quarter. Very safe location, cute house, very clean, and quiet! Ginger was extremely accommodating and was happy to suggest great restaurants and live music venues. We will definitely be back!
Came down to NOLA with the man for a weekend to relax with friends. This casita was the perfect spot to come back to and regroup from the excitement of New Orleans. The patio outside is very quiet and the perfect spot to have that first cup of coffee. There is no noise from the streets outside (It's only two blocks from the cluby part of Frenchman Street) and we felt very secure with the two gates in front.
Ginger, the property manager was very accommodating with our check in and out that weekend.
We both loved the natural lighting every morning that greeted us from the skylights. The tiny kitchen was only used to store drinks&leftovers, but would be fine to whip up a quick meal. My only regret is that we didn't stay long enough to make use of the grill in the backyard.
I was really happy with our stay; we plan to rent the main house & the casita on our next visit!
We stayed for just about a week at the Marigny Hideout and all in all, it's a great place.
On the positive side:
1. Great location!
2. Good price
3. Confortable bed/room
4. Your own private and quiet courtyard!
However, I do have to point out the following:
1. Wifi did not work well for me (using an iPad 3 and Samsung Galaxy S3). It would work for a few minutes, then I would need to reboot both my devices, and have the same problem after 2-3 minutes of usage. Sometimes, it would not work at all on my devices... My girlfriend though was using an iPhone 3GS and had no issue at all the whole time we were there. Weird...
2. The floor was pretty dirty when we checked in and we could walk around without getting our feet all dirty. We did not bother telling the caretaker, which would've probably solved this problem the same day; our bad!
3. The sunlight from skylights were waking us up around 6AM in the morning. If you need darkness to sleep, be warned and bring something to cover your eyes! This place is all windows...
4. One day, there was considerable rain and we had some water infiltrations, probably through the front door. It did not really bother us and the repairmen came in to fix the problem the day we checked out anyway.
5. The listing said something about a DVD player, which was nowhere to be found; we weren't there to check out movies anyway, and when we wanted to relax in the evening before going to bed, we had cable TV anyways.
I know it looks like I have a lot of negative things to say, but that's not true at all! Just pointing out what wasn't "perfect" about the place... The casita was great and I will definitely check it out next time I have the opportunity to travel to New Orleans! You can't be closer to the bars on Frenchmen than that (although you can't hear the noise when chilling in the courtyard), and it's a super short walk away from the French Quarter. It's also much cheaper than staying at a hotel in the area, plus you get your own private courtyard, with access to the BBQ! And your own kitchen, if ever you are sick of eating out, or are looking for opportunities to save a little dough. And if you're lucky, Wifi access!
I highly recommend this place and would stay there again, mainly for the location, confort and price. Again, I cannot stress out how amazing the location of this place is!
Also, if you are a group, consider renting the main house. I know we will, since we plan on returning with a couple of friends in the near future
The Marigny Hideout on Frenchman was great! The location is an A++++! Would be wonderful for a couple that wanted to get away from it all but still be close to the fun in NO. As a mother/daughter combo it was a little tight. The shower was great, lots of room, but the lighting for the mirror wasn't very good for make-up. The bed was good and plenty of towels! If you need coffee first thing in the morning, bring your own - they have the pot, sugar and creamer but not coffee. Cafes just blocks (south) away are great to eat and listen to jazz. Breakfast at the Ruby Slipper(1bk N-2 W) was very good with all our family(10 of us). Would stay again and recommend it to everyone.
Quiet, well-kept. Super location. Maybe could use screens, as it is a small space and fresh air would be nice. Overall, I was very happy with this place.
This is the cutest cottage. Clean, modern, comfortable, and safe. I stayed here for the weekend with my boyfriend. I used to live in New Orleans, and this is in a fantastic location. Too good to be true!
The property was cute and comfortable with a nice patio and yard, but the best feature of this property is its location. The property is on Frenchmen Street three blocks from the heart of the Frenchmen Street music scene. It's separated from the music scene by Washington Square Park, so it's nice and quiet. I would not stay anywhere else in New Orleans.
this palce was the perfect location and accessible to everywhere we basically walked in New Orleans! I recommend this for a couple or 2 friends that don't mind sharing a bed... Space is private and gives you a taste of what it could be like to live there! the fully equipt kitchen made it easy for us to do it on the cheap which is always a plus!!
Adorable -- perfect for a single person or a couple on a romantic getaway. This cozy little cottage is steps from the best music in New Orleans and walking distance to the Quarter. It is small but packed with charm. Swing open the French doors and take your glass of wine out on the patio and have a steak you have grilled out in the garden, while listening to WWOZ New Orleans Jazz wafting in the air. If you want to paint the town and hit every honky tonk and antique store and restaurant and then retreat to a cozy and quiet charming space, away from the noise and crowds, but still right there, this is the place to go!
