Charming 2 bedroom house near St. Charles Ave streetcar line and universities
This high-ceilinged lovely old house has a large kitchen, dining and living room. The kitchen has a Chambers stove and is fully equipped. The master bedroom has a cathedral ceiling and a king sized bed. The second bedroom has an antique double b …
This home was just simply charming. I really enjoyed the location as well as the out front parking. The house was very clean and spacious. The beds were really comfortable. I would definitely stay here when I return to New Orleans.
Upon our arrival at this warm and cozy home, we were totally impressed. The web-site pictures does no justice for this lovely home. The front porch has a wonderful rockin swing, just right for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The bedrooms along with the dining room and living area are very, very spacious! The kitchen cooks up wonderful meals on the unique gas stove. The back yard garden is simply lovely with fruit trees. The neighbors are sooo friendly and will give helpful advice. The owners are simply the BEST! Nancy & Steve had everything you would need to be comfortable. Make this your vacation stay, believe me, you won't regret staying, only leaving!
I rented this house for all of October 2012 while conducting research at Tulane. The house is spacious and beautiful with a great patio in back with lovely plantings. The location was perfect for walking everywhere -- Audubon Park, Magazine street, libraries at Tulane and Loyola, cafes and bookshopping on Maple, the St. Charles streetcar. Nancy and Steve were extremely responsive to any questions or needs regarding the house or neighborhood. So glad I got to stay here!
Nancy went above and beyond for us. This house is great and we will definitely be staying here again. We had 5 adults and one infant. Sleeping was fine, the bathroom visits required a little coordination, but doable.
We rented this lovely house for 3 months over the summer. We have 3 kids under the age of 5. The house was exactly what we were looking for. It was well lit (skylights in the master bedroom and bathroom, plenty of windows). The kitchen was lovely. The old-fashioned gas stove was fantastic. Front verandah with swinging chair, back patio with garden. However, the best part of our stay was clearly the owners, Nancy and Steve. They couldn't have been nicer. Nancy provided our kids with so many things: books, toys, kids chairs, garden hose, plastic bath tub and even a first aid kit. Anything we asked for was arranged for right away. The house easily withstood Hurricane Isaac (and had withstood Katrina as well). Nancy provided the essential items we needed to get through the storm - emergency lights, storm radio etc. The owners live a few minutes away, and were always accessible. Our boys went over to Nancy and Steve's place for a swim and home-made pizza, which was lovely. Since we left light after the storm, there we still had some packages that arrived afer our departure, and had items for movers to pick up. The owners so graciously helped us with these. All in all, Nancy and Streve made our stay such a pleasure; it felt like we were staying with family. We will always look to stay at one of their properties whenever we visit New Orleans.
Really enjoyed my stay at this location! I loved the spaciousness of this house. I liked that someone could be in the kitchen, dining room, living room and have plenty of room to move around. I had a little desk set up in the corner and it was perfect! This was my first visit to NOLA I was in New Orleans for a couple months for work/vacation and had many quests come to stay with me while I was staying here and had plenty of room. This now has definitely become my "home away from home". The owners at the little corner grocery store were so friendly it was so convenient for little things. I immediately bought some bikes and with the Audubon Park so close we had many beautiful bike rides around the park. One of my guests spent everyday at the Loyola campus at their dining hall with excellent coffee and then to their library! Magazine street is very close and we ate in many wonderful restaurants and visited endless boutiques and shops. The street car is very close and we would travel on it to the French Quarter twice a week! I fell in love with New Orleans and fell in love with this house and neighborhood. As for the owners Nancy and Steve, I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. They were so accommodating and ANYTHING I needed they were right there! The linens (bed and bath) are so luxurious, and the bed so comfy it was hard to get out of in the morning. The neighbors are VERY friendly. There is a little French Bakery a few blocks away called Tartine's where I spent many mornings having coffee and pastries and sandwiches for lunch. Nancy (the owner) is an avid gardener and it shows in the little patio in the back. I spent many hours sitting back there with a good book. Two thumbs up for me! I would recommend this property to anyone!
I have never been to New Orleans and to be honest, I wasn't expecting house rental to be very pleasant considering the Katrina aftermath.
Boy! Was I wrong. The owner met us at the house as soon as we arrived. She is such a sweetheart, and provided all us with all of the essentials. She even went out of the way to buy an ironing board, iron, and starch for the guys that need to press business attire for an event we were attending.
Back to the house. This place is super duper clean. Absolutely no musty moldy smells at all. The bed that I slept in was more comfy than my bed at home. There is a neat courtyard/patio out back and we were a half block walk from a corner store that has some of the best Asian take out I have ever eaten. Wireless internet in the house was a huge plus as well.
I could go on and on, but will stop by simply advising anyone interested in a clean, quiet place to stay in New Orleans...Do not pass up the opportunity to stay at this house.
