'Smile House' Only 3 Blocks to French Quarter! Sleeps 6-10
Nicknamed 'The Smile House' due to its unique front of the house that gives the appearance of a smiling face.
*****This House Will Be Exclusively Yours With Your Own Private Courtyard.*****
This 1500 square foot historic home is located in the …
A group of 7 of us stayed at the Smile House for an extended weekend in November. The house is in the perfect location! Only a short walk from the French Quarter, French Market, and anything else worth doing while in NOLA. This will definitely be our preferred place to stay whenever visiting. The Ruby Slipper is a must for breakfast and is located just around the corner from the house. Jesse was a pleasure to work with and even arranged for a late check out to accommodate our flight.
We had a wonderful Christmas at the Smile House! The house is beautifully decorated and convenient to anywhere you would want to go in New Orleans. We would definitely stay there again. Jesse was very kind and accommodating. Only a block and a half away from Binder's Bakery. Go there for the best cream cheese donut ever!
3 of us spent a long weekend in the Smile House to celebrate our turning 50 this year. The house is very cute, and well appointed with many nice touches. It is decorated with New Orleans color and style. The front entry has very helpful information about the area, restaurants and most anything you would need to know for your stay. We had no problem parking a car the entire stay on the street, but also often took a cab for the short ride to areas in and around the French Quarter. We also walked to the FQ a time or two. Beds were comfortable. Overall we had a great stay.
The only 2 reasons I don't give it 5 stars is there was a heat issue while we were there. One day we were there was the coldest night of the year, below freezing, and the heat could not keep up so we awoke to a very cold house. To his credit, the owner Jesse responded to the issue immediately and had a us buy a couple of space heaters since he would not be able to get anyone there to fix it during our stay. He reimbursed us fully and a little extra for our inconvenience, and with the space heaters there was no longer a heat problem. Also the kitchen faucet had a bad leak, which I'm sure was something new and I have no doubts Jesse will have that fixed as the overall condition of this charming old time New Orleans property was very good.
I would return to the Smile House again, it was a location and environment that really said New Orleans!
My family and I decided to stay at the Smile House as we wanted a homely place to call our own for a few nights that wasn't a hotel. We found the Smile House very comfortable and a great base for our New Orleans exploration. The beds were comfortable and the house was warm, which we needed for our very cold weather. The only let down was the kitchen, which was not well equipped if you wanted to cook. They need to increase the number of plates on hand, and the quality/quantity of fry pans and saucepan. Reading lights for the master bedroom would also be useful for those of us who like to read.
Aside from that, the review would be 5 star. Definitely recommended.
House was wonderful - perfect location. Back patio was great for daily happy hour. Jesse was great to deal with - very accommodating.
Close to everything but yet it was quite enough at night. House is larger than pictured. Rooms are very spacious. Everything you need is supplied at the house. It does have a lot of old charm to the house which was kept. Very large master suite with huge bathroom/ separate large shower and whirlpool tub. Owner Jesse is very quick to answer any questions that might come up.
This house was great! Plenty of space and super comfy bed with lots of NOLA charm!
Great location and roomy!
This very spacious, attractive and comfortable house is in a great location. The Marigny neighborhood is lovely with easy walking access to Frenchman Street and the Quarter. It was blessedly quiet at night. The house is generally well equipped, though a bit quirky on balance. Lots of seating, few places to set a drink. A huge kitchen with limited variety of plates & glasses. We were two couples, entertaining local friends, so we noticed these details. However, overall this property has an excellent "feel", is well maintained, has a gracious and accommodating host and is an exceptional value in New Orleans. We'll definitely return.
The smiley house is very spacious and easily accommodates three single people. There is a bar three houses away which did result in some late night noise otherwise, the location was fairly quiet. We had trouble getting a taxi to pick us up as we had an international phone number, (as a result, missed our flight) the people at the bar (iggy's) we're very accommodating and got cliff a local taxi driver to take us. The house is about a 10 walk from the heart of the French quarter, and other than a few cleaning issues, (floors and one of the beds) it was a good place to stay.
Excellent location between the French Quarter and Frenchman St, with an easy walk to both locations and the bus or trolley car station at the French Market.
Home is well kept, in excellent condition and has everything you will need for your stay.
The area is safe, we had no issues walking around day or night.
Don't bring anything you need to hang up, lots of space for folded cloithes, no place to hang any clothes.
Internet was down while we were there, so we could not access our e-mails.
We would highly recommend the house to anyone.
Fantastic trip made better by the fantastic house.
This house was great! A group of friends and decided to meet in New Orleans for our annual reunion. We came across the smile house and immediately booked it. Staying there was like being at home and made the NOLA experience amazing. It's close to everything, comfortable and the neighborhood is spirited and safe.
We loved this place a lot! It was perfect. So cozy and best location in NOLA. Jesse was awesome and very helpful. Great kitchen and walking distance to everything fun!
Great location for our adult children to stay while we were in NOLA. Easy walking to anything they needed. Rental was clean and the owner was great to work with. I would recommend this property to friends.
A MUST-DO! We took my sister for her bachelorette party, and I'm thrilled that her first NOLA experience took place in this house. If you are interested in heading to the Big Easy, this is what you need to know:
- The Smile House has everything you need and is close to the Quarter - not even a 15-minute walk to Bourbon Street!
- Jesse, the owner of The Smile House, is a joy to work with - easily accessible, easy-going, accommodating.
- Todd, the gentlemen who cleans up between guests, is awesome and really goes out of his way to ensure guests have a clean and beautiful place to enjoy.
-The house is lovely - unique, lots of space, homey, well-decorated, pleasant, and true to the photos on the site.
I highly recommend this place to anyone I know going to NOLA. It's ideal for couples, families, and groups of up to 8-10.
PS - If you do stay here, say hi to the people at Iggy's for us!
I went on a girls trip to New Orleans and stayed at The Smile House. It was amazing! The house was beautiful and location was just perfect! We walked everywhere but that was okay because we were close to everything! The Smile House was fully stocked with everything we needed and really felt like our home away from home. It was roomy and spacious and the 5 of us slept very comfortable!
I would highly recommend The Smile House to anyone interested in visiting New Orleans and I plan to definitely come back myself! Thanks for everything Smile House!
This was my second stay at the Smile House for an all girls trip. It makes you feel like a local staying in in this cool double shot gun house. Everything was clean and welcoming. Frenchmen Street is a short walk away to cool clubs, and the French Quarter is a short walk as well. I like staying here because it makes you feel like a local, even for just a few days. Much more personal that generic hotel rooms. I liked having my morning tea in the back patio. All the amenities are here. I look forward to staying here for future trips.
My stay at the Smile House was awesome! I would recommend it to anyone planning a trip to New Orleans. I loved being able to walk to all the local shops, restaurants and sight seeing attractions.
From the moment I walked through the front door, I felt an immediate attachment to not only the house, but also New Orleans. It was like in that moment, the city embraced me with welcoming arms, and I knew everything was meant to be. I think everyone can remember staying in a place that made their trip uncomfortable at some time and place. Where you lay your head each night can definitely impact any vacation, so it should be planned well. Even the fact that this house is in such close proximity to so many wonderful attractions, such as the French Quarter itself, the French Market, Bourbon Street, Frenchman Street, amazing restaurants and blues/jazz shows, watering holes, and a million unique shops, is in itself an ideal place to stay. I guarantee, though, as your day comes to a close, and you head home, there is nothing like being greeted from the sidewalk by a smiling house. One step in, and you realize the air conditioning is like a gift from the gods! Tempurpedic bed you say? Just what the doctor ordered after a day/night on the town. Its the closest thing to sleeping on a cloud! Master bath that you may not want to leave... ever! Cozy back patio- try it by candle light! A very roomy house, and you can go home with clean clothes- always a plus! I just stayed at the smile house recently for the first time, and I will definitely be coming back in the future. I gave a 5 star rating of "excellent" because there isn't a single thing there I would change. New Orleans is officially my favorite place to go!! You will not be disappointed!
This spot worked out great Its close enough to walk anywhere DT. So if you don't have a car definitely invest in some good crocs for the short walk. Plenty of restaurants near by plenty of places for people to sleep. Quite lil neighborhood And plenty of action close by.
I have been recommending this house to everyone that is interested in going to New Orleans. It is just outside the quarter so you don't get all the noise yet it is close enough to walk. Perfect !
Excellent location. I discover new close favorites every time I stay here. Comfortable and always worth the stay. Even got to walk in on a movie set on Frenchmen during my stay! Will always return to the smile house!
If you want a clean, comfortable, centrally located, and neighborhood feel stay then this is the place for you. The worse part is leaving.
We stayed at the Smile House for my sister's bachelorette weekend this past July, and absolutely loved it. The house was very cute; walking in on the first night was an awesome welcome to New Orleans! We loved how convenient it was to Frenchmen Street. We walked there a few different times for lunch and dinner. It was also a super cheap cab drive to the heart of the French Quarter (could have easily walked there in less than 15 minutes, but all the girls in their high heels preferred the cab, since it was so cheap and very warm outside when we were there). We felt very safe in the house, as the alarm system was a nice touch. Overall, the Smile House helped make my sister's bachelorette weekend even more special and fun!
Just returned from a bachelor party in NOLA and stayed at the SMILE house. Such an awesome experience! The house was way nicer than what all of us were expecting. Everything was self-explanatory and worked properly. The location is perfect for Frenchmen St. and the bars on St. Claude. It was kind of a trek to the French Quarter in the summer heat and humidity, but still so worth it!
I have visited New Orleans half a dozen times with my lodging being different each time. I have stayed with friends, in hotels, and hostels. I have stayed in several different parts of the city. This was by far my favorite experience. The house in located in Marigny, which allows you to be out of the tourist havens of the Quarter and live like a local, which is an experience everyone ought to have when visiting one of the best cities in the world. Yet, the location is close enough to everything for a short walk or cheap cab ride. It is sad to know many people visit this city and never make it away from the Bourbon Street trap. Staying in this rental helps to ensure a diversified, authentic experience. Absolutely ideal.
The house effuses the funky, eclectic soul of New Orleans. It is beautiful with character throughout from the hardwood floors, exposed brick, to the art work. As stated in the description, the photos absolutely do not do this house justice. It is awesome. Also, the master bed is a dream to sleep on. The other beds, daybed, sofas are all very adequate, as well. The fully functioning kitchen is a great way to save money, with all of the necessary accessories (cutlery, dishware, spices, etc.) to make any meal.
Jesse is expedient and professional with helping the rental process and ensuring you have a great stay in the city. The house even includes a binder full of information, as well as business cards identifying the house's address as well as position on a map of the area. This only goes to show that no small detail is spared.
I highly, highly recommend this rental for any kind of group. Many thanks again to Jesse for everything.
Go to Jacque-Imos in uptown for one of the best and most original dining experiences of your life.
Walking distance to the quarter and awesome restaurants. The house is decorated with a updated New Orleans vibe. Beds are comfortable and clean . Kitchen and appliances are new. I will be renting again on my next visit.
The house was very nice. Me and family had a very nice time and were glade that we came to house were we could relax.
The Smile House was extremely cozy and had a ton of room for me and my girlfriends! All the happening spots were within walking distance from the house so even though we rented a car, we rarely drove it during our stay. The owner was always available for questions and very hospitable. Two thumbs up, Jesse! You will see me again!
This home exceeded all our expectations. Even though it has great reviews, you can't really appreciate how nice this house is until you are there. It has much more space than the pictures show. Great area, you can walk to just about anything. Tons of great restaurants at your fingertips. You will love it!!
All the previous reviews were spot on! We chose this house based on the reviews and proximity to the French Quarter. Jesse was easy to work with and even checked up on us after we had inadvertantly set off the alarm system coming home late one night. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt safe too. It's within walking distance to the French Quarter, French Market, and Frenchman St. Great food and great music! I can't wait to go back yo NOLA!
My wife and I wanted to treat our teenage children to a New Orleans experience that would highlight the essence and soul of the city as a home, not just a tourist destination. We could not have chosen a better house! We loved the comfort and safety, easy parking, the art on the walls, the kitchen; it was all so much more than we expected. The food within walking distance was superb; Loretta's (fantastic lunch salad and then pralines), The Ruby Slipper (both breakfast and lunch) and the delivery pizza, calzones, fried green tomatoes, and crab cakes from Garage Pizza was so good we had it twice! The French Quarter is a convenient few blocks away and my children and I availed ourselves of the proximity all three days of our stay. I will be recommending The Smile House as THE place to stay for all of my friends and family.
Very welcoming, great location
Every thing was wonderful. Place was clean and well furnished.
We stayed here the weekend of May 31st-June 3rd. We were able to fit 8 guys comfortably and the house was huge! Everyone couldn't stop talking about how cool the house was decorated. Jesse was awesome and let us check in early and stay late. Be sure to visit The Ruby Slipper Cafe conveniently located around the corner to help cure those Hurricane hangovers ;) 5-10 minute walk to Bourbon St. and Frenchman St. I would definitely stay here again!
