We cannot say enough nice things about this lovely home on the hill above Waiohinu! First stayed here a couple of years ago, and we've had a magical return visit for the 2012-2013 holiday season. Super quiet off-the-grid home with a lovely floor plan and views overlooking the village and all the way out to sea. Private and secure with personalized security codes, awesome spacious bedrooms with skylights above the bed so you can star-gaze from the comfort of your pillow. Internet for email and television (if you must have those things during your vacation), and plenty of flowering plants around you, as well as guava, banana, passion fruit, lime and orange growing all around you. Huge windows for enjoying the hilltop views from all around the house - including a cupola atop the house with 360 degree views and accommodations for kids/teenagers. Ka'u is a wild and remote part of Hawaii. We love it, but it is not for everyone. If you want lots of fancy restaurants and big-box shopping, this isn't it. But if you want to enjoy green sand and black sand beaches, hiking to ancient Hawaiian archaeological sites, days of hiking and sight seeing at volcanoes national park, and fresh foods from local farmers markets, you won't find a better retreat!
Two months in paradise at House of Shimmering Waters! Magnificient views, quality furnishings, immaculate condition and all accuratley described. Aaron provided great suggestions for activities during our two month stay. Though we never met he is quite the host. His caretaker, Rex, was most helpful and accomodating and was most accomodating in insuring we had a pleasant stay. If you desire peace, solitude and being away from the hustle of tourist life then this is the place for you. We found it conveniently located about half way between Hilo and Kona. This enabled us to explore in different directions and make the best utilization of our time. Green sand beach, black sand beach, sea turtles, national parks, hiking, fruit trees, Kona coffee...everything we dreamed it would be! We loved Naalehu and especially the Hana Hou Restaurant and the Wednesday and Saturday Farmers Market. Can't wait to get back.
We had such a wonderful time here. It is secluded, comfortable and we enjoyed coming home in the evenings. We will definitely stay here again and also recommend it to others.

"Why rent a solar home when you can have electricity?" We say... "Well why NOT!" It gives you a chance to see how easy it is to live "Green" and self sufficient. Living off the grid doesn't have to be 'roughing it!" READ our Guest comments and see what they have to say.

WHAT MAKES HALE ALOHA AINA SPECIAL? ...: If you have read our guest comments, you will already know that Hale Aloha Aina has captured the hearts and minds of travelers from all over the world. We have been offering this sanctuary to visitors since 2001 and our occupancy rate has been at least 85% which is astounding for our area. There are several reasons for our success, but most importantly, we do our best to make sure that our home is what our guests are seeking. Our personal website is very informative and our blog gives additional information in planning their trip. Missy works personally with each guest to help them plan their dream vacation. Having been raised on the Big Island, she can offer experience and knowledge from a local’s perspective as well.

GARDEN OF EDEN...: Hale Aloha Aina offers incomparable privacy and intimacy that many vacation rentals can not provide. The effort that goes into maintaining the cottage and eight acres far exceeds the expectations of our guests. This is not your typical rental… we are offering you a chance to experience one of the best kept secrets of the Big Island, Wood Valley and what many of our guests have referred to as the ‘Garden of Eden’ in your own back yard!

Besides the secluded jungle appeal, it is one of the most livable climates on the Big Island of Hawaii. Warm sunny mornings will greet the day with an occasional afternoon shower and cool evenings for a good night sleep. The elevation is approximately at 2400 feet. Comfortable climate, low humidity, where no air conditioning or fire place is needed . Best of all... none of those pesky tropical bugs to swat! and no coqui frogs! "as of yet!" ...fingers crossed! Although they are one of God creatures...the peace and quiet is what we enjoy the most in Wood Valley and we hope it will remain that way.
