Ocean Front Property - Beach House
Small, rustic house right on the beach. Very close to San Francisco — 20 min from the Golden Gate Bridge. Romantic getaway. Perfect for couple. Wood burning fireplace in living room and bedroom. Large deck and private hot tub overlooking the ocean …
One of the best places I've ever stayed. It's so nice, you don't want to go anywhere else! Hard to even read as the view & beach activity is so wonderful. Great walks and nurturing.
The house is obviously a work of love. Nice of the owner to share his piece of heaven.
With my husband we were looking for a nice retreat to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. This rustic European style home had the perfect setting: ocean front view, large outdoor deck with comfortable arm chairs, fully equipped sound system to enjoy your music wherever you are in your home! The house is near many coastal hikes to enjoy during your stay no need to drive to them just walk! The outdoor hot tub had a beautiful view but be prepared to walk a narrow and wooden stair case to get to it! I recommend getting to the home with a med-full size car, I would not recommend huge SUVs since the road to get there is narrow and parking limited. Thank you and enjoy!
We are still dreaming about our stay. We can't wait to go back. It was better than expected. The views are spectacular. The jacuzzi was perfect. The layout was perfect. We enjoyed every minute of it. We made full use of the kitchen, fireplace, dining table, sofa, and deck. Because public access to the beach is limited while the parking lot is under construction, we basically ended up with a private beach. It was so peacful. The sunset was amazing. Then, we had stunning views of the San Francisco skyline.
The only thing that I would do different would be to bring my own pillows next time, but that is because I'm super picky. I don't usually even like the pillows in a fancy hotel.
I could write a book in Sigward's amazing beach home. Actually, I could write a book about Sigward's amazing beach home in his beach home. Maybe some day I will... It's a true sanctuary apart from all the distractions of city life, with all of the attractions of Marin's astoundingly beautiful coast. We loved walking through the trees in the dark to The Pelican Inn, having an unforgettable dinner, and rolling ourselves afterwards into the hot tub and listening to the waves crashing below us. We loved making a fire and reading quietly together with a glass of wine. We loved hiking around the area and driving through the fog to Stinson Beach. The home is simple, minimal, and soulful with great touches like an LC4 chaise right next to the window. Though we didn't cook, it would be a good place for that. Watch the stairs along the side of the house, especially in the dark. Be aware that there is major construction going on now at Muir Beach. It wasn't an issue for us, but if you're planning to fully explore the beach, know there are definitely parts you can't access at the moment. In short: Stay here. You will like it.
Place is awesome - it's hard to even find the appropriate words to describe it. Sigward was very nice and helpful and provided us all the information we needed. The house is beatufiul inside and outside. Views from bedroom and balcony are breathtaking. Muir Beach is close to many attractions - San Francisco, Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Muir Woods and others. We would love to come back.
I must say – this place is the gem above them all! This location, style and ambience – it’s incredible if you are looking for that authentic, rustic cliff house overlooking the pacific ocean on a wide sandy beach. And yet so close to San Francisco.
Thanks for making this gem available to strangers and for accomodating a last minute reservation. Everything was in perfect good and clean order upon my arrival. Even firewood was provided for the indoor fireplaces.
My husband and I stayed two nights at this magical, luminous getaway spot on Muir Beach and our only regret was not being able to stay much, much longer. We felt literally swept away from the world, nestled in this hilltop perch directly overlooking the stunning horseshoe beach. We enjoyed roaring, romantic wood fires, the constant sound of the waves, the panoramic views from the glass-walled deck (which also nicely sheltered us from the breeze), the spicy aroma of the wild sage and cypress growing lush around us, the fog rolling in and the sun glinting off the water in turns, and the feeling that through it all we were completely alone in the word in the best possible way. On our several hikes in the hills directly across the beach from the property, we had the fortune to see seals and dolphins playing in the surf below as we took in the majesty of the bay from above. We loved the rope climb down to the the beach, too--it just added to the adventure. We brought scads of groceries to cook during our stay and the kitchen was well equipped, but we ended up survived mostly on berries and a big batch of delicious guacamole. Here in the middle of paradise, you just don't need much to sustain bliss. Our stay at Sigward's was exactly what we were hoping for, and much more. We will be back! Thank you!
I wish I were there right now... what an incredible location and charming, rustic beach cottage on the cliffside overlooking the pacific ocean, muir beach, and marin headlands! We forgot about the city for a long weekend of sleeping in to the sound of the ocean, home cooked brunches on the deck, trail running the headlands right out the front door, and driving up the coast for amazing cocktails and local food in nearby Bolinas, Stinson, Inverness & Olema before capping the night with some champagne and a soak in the hot tub under the clear night sky. So indulgent for a long weekend getaway so close to SF. We were home in 45 minutes, but it felt a world away. With no houses in sight off the back deck, it felt like Muir Beach was all our own. Sigward was a gracious host and great to work with, we'd love to stay at his beach house again someday next time the ocean calls...
My girlfriend and I stayed at this wonderful house and cannot say enough great things about the property or the owner. Everything was beautiful, well maintained, and effortless. We cannot wait to return!
Hello...Seriously from the moment we arrived at our very private Beach Cottage we were absolutely over joyed...over whelmed and actually got very emotional with how beautiful it all was from the cottage itself to the beautiful beach below and then to experience the hot tub about 40 steps down above the beach and over looking the beach and then having a wonderful fireplace in both the living room and bedroom and then even to awake each day with Dolphins playing in the bay and then experiencing the most wonderful Parkside Cafe fir breakfast and then because the food was so delicious we went back frob an even more incredible dinner with fresh caught Salmon and Halibut and then after absolutely stuffed we had to have desert...absolutely amazing !!! could not have been better and we actually asked the chef to come over our table and tell him thank you for a very yummy dinner and then to experience a Helicopter ride over the Golden Gate Bridge and then the pilot surprised us by flying under the bridge...incredibly exciting....Also went to a Giants vs. Boston Red Sox....Hot Dogs and Beer and Peanuts and sat in the very first row and were able to get Giants autographs...
My Girlfriend had never been to a Professional Baseball Game let alone sit in the first row right next to the Giants Dugout and then a tour of Alcatraz Island and then experience Fisherman's Wharf and then have lunch at the very famous Scoma's Restaurant and then the next day have lunch at The Boudin Sourdough Bread Factory and have wonderful; Clam Chowder in a loaf of their famous bread bowks...and then even fly first class on Virgin America Airlines....Incredible Dream Vacation For Sure. Cannot wait to go back for longer than just one week....actually we want to move to San Francisco.
The absolute best dream vacation ever....A true wonderful adventure we will never forget !!!
Thank You Muir Beach and San Francisco !!!
Such an enjoyable stay! The most fabulous views in Muir beach, convenient to San Fran & Saulsalito. Hot tub overlooking the beach was tremendously relaxing, too. Highly recommended.
Paradise in Marin County just outside San Francisco. If you are looking for a clean, quiet and peaceful place for your stay then this is your place. We had an absolutely wonderful vacation on Muir Beach. The house is in a prime location, the views from the house and deck are simply breathtaking. It’s a beautiful house both elegant and rustic at the same time.
The deck has unobstructed ocean views and is a great place for morning coffee as well as a place to sit and watch the ocean during the day and the stars at night. You can walk directly onto the beach or to the hot tub via a semi steep descent. Its quite manageable but if you also have the option of taking a very short easy 3 min walk on the street to the beach.
The house was very clean well appointed and everything worked perfectly. It had everything we could have needed not to mention the two wood burning fireplaces and a large kitchen.
The owner was super nice and very easy to work with.
I don’t think there is a better house in the area. My husband and I did not want to leave and can’t wait to come back.
Sigward from the beginning was great to work with. He was very detail-oriented in getting us set up and booked, but also flexible and generally helpful and nice to work with. The house is amazing. It's got all the amenities one would need to enjoy a weekend (or more) up at the beach, while maintaining a very secluded and simple ambiance.
Now, that hot tub. There are no words. Sitting on the cliff just above the beach but hidden by brush and trees, it felt like a tree house spa. The location of the house is remarkable (no other homes on the beach side of the road), but this hot tub tops it all. We enjoyed it several times over the course of our stay.
I would recommend this location for couples who are looking for a very quite, relaxation & connection with nature in an amazingly unique setting.
This trip wasn't just a getaway for us, it was a spiritual journey as well. It was a breathtaking experience and I am very thankful to you for this opportunity.
I enjoyed that there was no TV (I barely watch anyway) but I loved to listen my meditation music, the fireplace, candles, sitting on the balcony for hours and just completely absorb that moment...Amazing!
The best ever weekend getaway of my life!
This was one of the most tranquil and nourishing places I've stayed. There is nothing like falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean. The nature is stunning with hikes and walks on the beach right outside the door. I felt like I was in paradise, especially while lounging in the jacuzzi or taking in the view from the deck.
The house is comfortable, clean, and well maintained. The owner was super helpful and enthusiastically shared his favorite places to watch the sunset.
The Pelican Inn restaurant just down the road cooks up a mean fish & chips and has a good choice of ales.
I highly recommend staying here. I can hardly wait for my next visit and retreat!
It’s a beautiful house in the middle of a wonderful and peaceful atmosphere.
As there is no other building in between the ocean and this house, you only hear the sound of the waves and the chitter of the birds. A walk to the beach only takes you about 2 minutes.
The deck has a balustrade made of glass, so you have an amazing view on the ocean while relaxing in the deck-chair. The house is fully equipped and clean…and there is a romantic fireplace in the livingroom and in the bedroom.
I really enjoyed to stay in this lovely place and hope to return soon.
