Moss Beach Home with Ocean Views and Magical Forest
Yes you can have it all!
Perched atop a hillside with breathtaking ocean views and located on a cul-de-sac that leads into an enchanted forest, lies a hidden jewel. Imagine waking up in a home surrounded by trees but within sight of the water … .
My wife and I got the chance to spend some much needed vacation time here. When we first arrived, we were blown away with the amenities and warm invite we got from the owners. The house is that perfect mixture of home comfort and hotel convenience. The large, open rooms were great for the group of people we had, not to mention the large kitchen which was acted as center for everyone to gather and chat.
I can't recommend this place enough for someone looking to get away from it all and relax.
Alex and Allison really have an amazing home, and they're wonderful hosts besides. We spent our New Year's at the Moss Beach house and couldn't have asked for a more lovely accommodation. All the rooms are well-proportioned and well-appointed. There are great cooking facilities, a BBQ, hot tub, a nice sound system, great views, TVs for everyone (including a room properly set up as a home theater), to say nothing of countless little touches that make every inch of the place feel welcoming and luxurious.
Aside from the house and the hosts, the neighborhood is blow-me-away gorgeous: big trees with hawks sailing overhead, coastlines edged by tidepools, Maverick's (if you don't know, look it up!), kayaking, horseback riding, stand-up paddle-boarding, great artsy shops, and on and on. Our New Year's Eve dinner was fresh seafood right off the fishing boat (spot prawns and bacon-wrapped cod). All this just half an hour from San Francisco! It's hard to believe.
I also have to offer a particular hat tip to the glassware...our New Year's toast out of proper whisky glasses, provided by folks who obviously know their business. :)
Our multi generation family (ages 2-75) had a wonderful time at this beautiful retreat. We have stayed at many vacation rentals, but this house, by far, had exceeded our expectations. Our host thought of many details that made our stay extra special. Some of our highlights were spending time in the hot tub on the multi level deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean framed by trees and watching movies in the high tech media room with our whole family. We would love to return to this truly "enchanted" retreat.
We had a wonderful stay! The house was beautiful - very clean, extremely comfortable, and lots of beautiful touches. Our group of 7 kept remarking on all of the special touches (snacks and treats provided, a towel at every turn, easy to use lock code, umbrellas to shade the sunny porch, etc.) -- it seems like Allison has thought of everything! I hope I get to come back here again, and I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone! Allison was generous and easy to work with.
Moss Beach is a beautiful location on the coast and the house is perfect. Beautifully decorated, great entertainment for children and adults, with the hot tub and cinema room. We had a perfect stay, would definitely recommend it.
I recently organized a family reunion and many of us stayed in this gem of a Moss Beach home. We had an AMAZING time! The owner is an absolute dream to work with - she is very passionate about providing the most hassle-free, relaxing stay possible for her guests. Although she provided plenty of information and answered questions promptly in advance, she personally met us at the door when we arrived and gave a detailed tour of her incredible rental. Her warm, humorous and welcoming demeanor really got our reunion started on the right foot. The house itself is simply terrific - everyone who stayed there or visited for the reunion was awestruck at how nice it was. It feels brand new and is very tastefully decorated and laid out. It has modern appliances/entertainment systems to make your stay easy/fun and comfortable furnishing to put you at ease. We had the whole family plus a few local guests over one evening and had the best time - we were able to cook a huge, fantastic meal as well as easily mingle both inside and outside. The kids loved the entertainment room and hot tub while the adults were taken by the view and beauty of the place. All this and it is located in amazing Moss Beach! Many of those who visited asked me to give them information on renting this place themselves and I plan on returning again with my family soon. Loved it!
Great house, modern, very well kept, clean. Lots of room for larger groups. Wonderful area for a relaxing vacation. Landlord helpful and accommodating. A great choice.
So clean it could have been built yesterday, this house was everything advertised and more. The owner was a joy to work with and we were thrilled with this property.
The kitchen made me feel like a gourmet and every room was spot-on perfect for our needs.
We gathered to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday--our 3 children, their spouses/fiancee, and 4 grandchildren age 5 or less--and this was the perfect house. The well-appointed kitchen is a joy for cooks, all of us loved the movie room, which was stocked with DVDs, and the owner supplies great amenities for little ones: a Pack N' Play, an installed gate for the stairs, toys. Nearby is a great playground, the house is a few blocks from a beach with tide pools, and just up the street behind it is a path through woods in a nature preserve. We also appreciated the owner's special personal touches: a basket of movie candies and popcorn, a basket of lemons, fresh flowers, books, cotton robes to wear out to the hot tub, etc. We loved every minute, and we'll be back.
Just vacationed here with my family of 12 (8 adults, 4 small children). This house was FANTASTIC. First of all, all the views are far, far more gorgeous than they even appear in these pictures. The house somehow manages to be immaculate, and yet comfy/homey at the same time. We loved enjoying the jacuzzi, the gorgeous outside eating space, the private movie theater - yes, MOVIE THEATER, with stadium-style seating and a giant screen. Kitchen is perfect for cooks - includes every supply you could desire, including excellent knives, a vitamix blender, a food processor...Owners included so many lovely special touches, like a basket of movie candy/popcorn, fresh flowers in every room...We had a couple of quick questions during our stay, and the owner got back to us immediately both times. Cannot recommend this home more highly.
The home was very nice. Everything was in great condition and beautiful. There were many activities within walking distance. The kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the hot tub and the theater room. The owner had put out treats when we got there and had left treats for the movie also. Overall great experience.
This Moss Beach home is large, beautiful, tastefully-decorated and overlooks the stunning Pacific Coast near Half Moon Bay, California. It's only a short drive from SFO and convenient to San Francisco as well as wine country. We were in the area for a family wedding, there were a total of 9 people ranging in age from 72 down to 9 and everyone was thrilled with the accommodations. The house is well-appointed and was thoughtfully stocked with many more extras than we've encountered in any other vacation rental. As hosts, the owners are gracious and responsive. They were a pleasure to deal with from the initial inquiry to the final checkout. If it's ever my pleasure to vacation in the Half Moon Bay area again, this home would be my first choice. If you're looking at this place online and wondering if it could possibly be as nice as the pictures, I promise you, it's even better.
The little town of Half Moon Bay has lots of cute shops and good restaurants. Our welcome party was held at the San Benito Ale House. There's a deli attached and beautiful gardens to eat in. The home made bread is to die for! The wedding itself was at Long Branch Saloon and Farms, a really fun place for a party.
We are a group of women who travel together each year. We usually rent a house for a weekend stay and this is one of our very favorites. It is beautifully appointed and very comfortable. It is near restaurants and handy to Half Moon Bay for shopping. We loved the beautiful view and the spaciousness. A highlight was the movie theater where we all watched a movie one evening. The owner even provided snacks for us!!! We will definitely stay in this home again and will recommend it to friends and family.
Summing up our time in your wonderful home: Wow.
We had a simply perfect weekend starting when we arrived on Friday afternoon and got the pleasure of watching an early-spring sunset over the Pacific while sipping wine from the comfy chairs in the living room. The house is so comfortable and well equipped: everything we needed and more. I particularly liked the kitchen and all the tools and equipment, something you don’t usually find in a guest rental. We all slept so deeply and soundly, the house is so wonderfully quiet and the beds are sink-into comfortable.
What did we do? We went for a long walk through the magic forest, played on the rope swing, went past the fields on the other side of the forest and up the hill for an amazing panorama out over Half Moon Bay, you could really see the half moon. We indulged in the hot tub each day. We went down to Princeton/El Granada and walked through the harbor. We walked the coastal trail all the way into Half Moon Bay and back on an idyllic sunny day watching the hunting hawks and the scurrying rabbits and the crashing waves. We watched a pair of hawks building a nest at the top of a tree next door to the house. We spent a morning window shopping in Half Moon Bay. We barbecued steaks one night and tuna the next with fresh vegetables from the Farmer’s Market we came across on Sunday in Princeton. We lazed on the patio, sipping wine, enjoying the sun, reading and enjoying the music from the excellent Sonos system. We had perfect weather in a perfect house.
Thank you so much for opening up the elegant comfort of your home to us. We will be back.
Enjoyed a long weekend with all the women in my family. Just a short drive from SFO so for those who traveled all day they didn't have to wait very long before walking into this gorgeous, mulit-level home. Windows every where. Viewed the sunsets through the trees every night. Number of beds and baths perfect for all of us women! Would be great for multiple couples or family reunion. Kitchen very well appointed. Grocery stores and great restaurants in nearby Half Moon Bay. Fresh crab in Princeton Harbor. Theater room, patio and hot tub such fun treats! Allison was so helpful in making our stay enjoyable. Almost hate to give our stay the great review it deserves. May already be reserved the next time we want to visit!
Our three generations - ages 3 to 70 - couldn't have been happier with the house. It's an absolutely wonderful place: Extremely well designed and equipped. Meticulously maintained. The owners have thought of everything. Their children even draw a welcoming picture for our grandkids. Fresh flowers even! And, a perfect location high on a hill overlooking the water. Tow minutes from the fascinating Fitzgerald Preserve and minutes from a variety of beaches and hikes. Less than a half-hour into San Francisco. All in all, the best house among the many we have rented over the years.
