Luxurious House. 7 miles to Boston, 1000 FT to train.
***Calendar is always up to date.***
Beautiful house in quiet, residential neighborhood. Luxury appointments, designer kitchen and upscale furniture throughout, and tiled baths with granite vanities. Large walk-in closets. Fenced in yard and t …
My family and I had a wonderful vacation at this property. The house is beautifully restored, and Greg is a really friendly and warm person. He was easy to get a hold of with any questions, and had great recommendations for things to do. He even went out of his way to provide things like a baby gate and pack and play for our toddlers. We loved the town of Melrose and the proximity to Boston. We would definitely stay here again!!!
Our stay here was wonderful. The house was cozy and comfortable with plenty of room, and more, for 5 of us - two couples and my brother. The pictures are accurate but there's so much more to the home! A garden out back and the patio is large. The kitchen was completely stocked for any cooking need (there were flowers on the window sill for us), the beds and pillows comfortable, wood floors throughout, and the bathrooms clean with all the amenities. This was our first time on the East Coast to visit family. We rented a car which made getting to the train easier. The neighborhood is near a quaint town in walking distance for coffee and bagels. The owner was helpful and attentive to any questions we had. The neighborhood was nice, and the neighbor friendly. We all looked forward to coming back to this home, after a long day of walking around the sites, and just settling in to visit on the comfortable couch or spread out at the table or kitchen bar. We would come here again and definitely recommend it to any of our friends.
Very nice, clean, lovely house to stay!
We stayed in the Melrose house with 4 people. Great location and a ncie samll town.
Rooms are great and very clean. Greg was very helpful with great advise for restaurants.
This is the best location for tours to the City and to the beaches.
My group of 8 adults stayed over the 4th of July. We arrived at Logan International with no private transportation but was able to navigate the city with only minor blips due to ease of MBTA bus and rapid transit stops. Shopping in downtown Melrose was mere blocks away for groceries and restaurants.
Greg's description of his lovingly renovated home was very accurate and he supplied personal recommendations for dining experiences throughout the city. We ate breakfast at the house every morning and really appreciated the complimentary coffee beans and Kuerig. The keyless entry to the home was extremely handy when several times someone had to return to the house without the group during the day.
Greg was never more than a phone call or email away. He texted upon our arrival to make sure we had settled in and personally arrived halfway through our stay. While still in the planning stages, he answered many questions not only concerning his property but Boston as well. He took our minor suggestions for improvement to heart and his follow-up was phenomenal.
We utilized the friendly local taxi service several times as we did not want to wait for bus service due to weekend scheduling of pickups. We purchased a weekly MBTA pass and, for the most part, got where we needed in a timely fashion. I would NOT have wanted to drive in the city and find parking! I would encourage someone without a car to become familiar with the MBTA website prior to arrival. Most venues state which "T" line they are located nearest which is extremely helpful when planning your sightseeing.
The stairs to the attic bedroom are fairly steep with narrow treads and would suggest assigning it to the most nimble member(s) of your group.
I really appreciate the fact the he/Bostonians religiously recycle and encourage guests to do so also. We made daily contributions to his composting bin located in the backyard and the recycling bins in the house.
We stayed here while visiting Boston and could not have picked a better house! The posted pictures do not actually do the home justice. Walking up to the house felt like a story book...Picturesque neighborhood, hanging flowers...Gorgeous! Then inside, the house was immaculate. Greg is picky about the upkeep and cleanliness and it shows. We have stayed at many vacation homes and I have never been met personally by an owner so he could inspect the cleanliness and condition and to make sure everything was exactly how we needed it to be. He showed us how to work the remotes for the TV and even took the time to recommend restaurants in town. The washing machine was broken on our arrival but was promptly fixed by morning and Greg even asked if it was OK with us for the repairman to enter the property. I thought this was extremely courteous considering it is his property! All of the beds were made up with high quality sheets that were so soft as well as high quality, comfortable matresses. My mother LOVED all of the drawer space and the smell of fresh cedar when she stored all of her clothes! Plenty of towels and even bar soap was provided. My son-in-law slept on the couch in the basement and Greg even provided sheets for the couch. The kitchen was well stocked and we filled our water bottles everyday with the filtered water at the sink. We did not have a car and just walked 4 blocks to the bus stop at Foster and Main and rode the bus to the T. There is a close commuter train as well but it is rather pricey at 8 dollars a ride. After spending our days exploring tourist-packed Boston, we enjoyed walking the quaint streets of Melrose at night and were often greeted by young couples walking their children in strollers. I cannot recommend this home enough to anyone considering a stay here! Thank you, Greg for an amazing place to have spent time with my family.
We had six adults at the house for our stay and it was absolutely a perfect venue. Greg was just a phone call away and very accommodating. The house was extremely clean, the town is quaint, and a trip into Boston was so easy. We are so happy we chose a house---and this specific house--- because it allowed us to have family time, and renting three rooms in Boston can be very expensive. Thanks, Greg for the use of your beautiful home.
My family, (4 adults and 2 teenagers) were very pleased with Greg's house. It was spotless and very well maintained. It had large areas where we could gather comfortably including two large flat screen
TVs. Greg was just a text away to answer any questions we had and stopped in to make sure we were settling in comfortably. He even came over to put in two air conditioners in the windows when the weather turned warmer than expected. The back deck was an extra bonus. At one time we had 10 people for dinner and everyone had a place to sit and we could have seated more using the deck. We had the option of taking the "T" downtown to visit the historic sites in downtown Boston. We walked to Main Street in Melrose and browsed and had lunch. Since the fee for cleaning was lower than many other homes, we had to wash the sheets and towels before we left. I only note this so that someone with an early flight can plan or perhaps make other arrangements with the owner. Also, note that all bedrooms are upstairs and that may limit some who cannot easily navigate stairs. That being said, we loved our stay and would do it again.
We really enjoyed our stay in Melrose and the home was everything we had hoped it would be. Very clean and well-equipped kitchen. We appreciate all the helpful information that Greg gave us prior to and during our stay. We definitely recommend the house for anyone planning an extended vacation in the Boston area! I was part of a party of 9 that rented this house for four days. There was plenty of room for everyone sleeping wise and having a fully contained kitchen was so convenient. we were able to walk to and from the train station and subway stations. The walk to town was short and enjoyable. The owner, Greg, was very accomodating and very helpful with information on getting around town and in and out of Boston. I would reccommend this property to anyone visiting the Boston area with a group that wants to all stay at the same location.
This property was amazing! High-end appliances, granite countertops, luxurious linens and towels, and tastefully decorated, this is a superb home away from home. Great locale-we didn't walk to the commuter rail, but drove to the T station, and rode into the city from there- about a 20 minute trip. Greg was always just a phone call away with any questions. Our group of 4 highly recommends this property!
Outstanding place to stay. Greg was more than helpful and very accomadating to me and my family. The house is located in a great spot to quickly access the train and commuter and it is a quick drive into Boston. I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay if visiting Boston or the Salem area. I gave this a 5 star rating for both the house and the owner (Greg). Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our vacation.
We had a great time in Boston & Plymouth during the day and relaxing in the house in the evenings. It was extremely hot outside, unusual, during our stay. The owner went out of his way to bring in more window AC units so everyone could sleep comfortably. He was very helpful, wanting us to enjoy our stay. I would definitely recommend this house. Very convenient to restaurants and grocery store.
THis was a great home and a great location for touring boston!
