Luxury In Luxor!
After mounting the stairs to the third floor, the entrance lobby of the Our Luxor Holiday Apartment gives a taste of even more pleasurable surprises to come! Your first WOW moment is to be confronted with our striking ablaq Moorish arch, with its …
Stayed at this retreat in the heart of Luxor during Ramadan and wow what a lovely experience. The owners are so lovely and have excellent knowledge regarding Luxor and the way of life there...The flat was very clean (as I am quite particular) and bed lined/towels smelled lovely..This apartment is like going back in time to the days of alibaba/thousand nights etc..I have stayed at many hotels in Luxor over the years and this comes top of my list!
I felt very safe in Luxor being a single female...
Thank you Edward & Freda for your kindness and advice...
This is an experience we are still reliving due to the hosts, Edward and Frieda. First, the apartment... beautiful. interesting, exotic. You genuinely feel like you have arrived to some place special. It met all our needs and surpassed all of our expectations. Second, the location is perfect if you want the real experience. This is right in the heart of Luxor, in and among the people. Yes, you will see the genuine Luxor, which includes the dust, clutter and the bedlam. We loved it. It's the reason we travel. If everything is just like home than why bother?. This location is in easy walking distance to the markets, Luxor Temple, the avenue of the Sphinx and the river walk. It's a longer walk or a short cab ride to the Temple at Karnak. We walked there and took a cab back. It is very easy to find transportation and/or guide to the Valley of the Kings from this location, including the tomb of King Tut. We hired a private guide with driver. And you will have no lack of places to eat in the area. The third (and maybe most important) reason to stay here... the hosts, Edward and Frieda. You could not ask for two more gracious and entertaining people. We took a walk about town with them on our first evening and they shared many stories. We opted for breakfast each monring on their beautiful roof top patio. It is an oasis, so different from all the buildings around them. Edward does a blog and my husband still follows it weekly. He talks about going back to Luxor to explore more of the area and to spend tme with Edward and Frieda. This is definitely a place to visit. Keep in mind, Luxor is not Cairo. The political issues that may prevent you from feeling comfortable with Cairo are not the same in Luxor. The people of Luxor are warm and inviting. They rely on tourists for their livlihoods and we never felt unsafe, even when walking through the streets in the evening. At night we would buy hot bread on the street and grab a bottle of wine to enjoy when we got back to our cozy little flat. This is the place to go if you want to experience the beauty and historical significace of Egypt.
Freda and Edward are the best hosts and really make you feel welcome from the free pickup at the airport to when you leave. They said they were at our service and they lived up to that. The apartment was just like their website pictures, and when can you say that with honesty when you look at hotels that don't live up to the pictures in Egypt, not very often. The outside on the street is a mess but so is luxor, but when you go through the three doors that separate you from the mess of Luxor your on your own in a world away from it all and with hot water. The bed was great along with all the facilities, it has two toilets. everything is well presented to a very high standard and comfort. In the morning you can pay extra for breakfast and all is of the best quality. Freda even got me my special breakfast cereal when it was available. Look just visit their website and see for your self, you will have a lovely stay and in central Luxor close to everything. Edward is just happy to talk and fill you in on what to do and see and more importantly how to go about doing your own thing as we did. we would stay again if we were to go back for another visit and the cost is so reasonable why would you stay in a hotel.
In our trip to Egypt we stayed in everything from 4- & 5-star hotels to a tent in the desert. And "Our Luxor" was far and away the most comfortable and best-designed (for the comfort, convenience and delight of the guest) of any of them. Edward and Freda have literally thought of everything a traveler could possibly want, and put it in lodgings that make you feel like a pasha. Breakfast on their terrace looking over to the West Luxor mountains is unbeatable, both for the view and the fresh fruit (different every day), fresh lemonade, made-to-order eggs, etc. Freda also makes a great packed breakfast for early departures. And she will even launder your desert-weary clothing for you! She & Edward will give you fascinating insight into the workings of Luxor, which you won't get on the regular "tourist circuit." We would recommend Our Luxor for any travelers with just one caveat - no elevator (but which did not bother us at all, and we're no spring chickens).
'Our Luxor' was a great place to stay - comfortable, attractive and well equipped. An oasis in vibrant, interesting, colourful, noisy, dirty Luxor. We felt we had seen the real Egypt not the sanitised cruise version. Edward and Freda could not do enough to make our holiday a smooth experience. Breakfast on their sunny terrace each morning was a great start to the day and we always left with lots of interesting information about the Egyptian way of life. We also stayed in a 5 star Cairo hotel and felt we could have been anywhere, but not so in 'Our Luxor'. If you want the real experience of Egypt we cannot recommend too highly Edward and Freda's appartment. They are 2 very friendly, kind and humorous Geordies!
we wanted a holiday that we could say wow well we got it, if you want to see the real Luxor this is the place to stay, Freda & Edward are the perfect hosts, they organised a personal guide extra cost but well worth all the knowledge one gains. I would never go on a package holiday again. Also the info we hear about the troubles in cairo are none existant in luxor, it is the media blowing everything out of proportion. We are going back next year as 1 week was not long enough, and we never ate english food all the time we were their without any tummy troubles. I do hope you go and experience what we did
!We spent 4 nights in Our Luxor. From the time we got picked up at the airport very early in the morning, we enjoyed Edward's good sense of humor. The place is just as shown in the pictures... we would say even better! It's just so amazingly beautiful place. We felt very relaxed and safe during the entire stay. We enjoyed very much Frida's excellent breakfast and also a little chat with them every morning. The are a wonderful host. The location was excellent. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. Thank you for making our stay very beautiful. We would love to be back again.
We have been the third time guests of freda and edwards "our luxor" in yes, it was worth it once again. small changes everywhere...on the streets outside and at the flat too. now its much more comfortable to have breakfast, because edward enlarged the roof of the terrace. We have had some problems with the internet-stick, but edward managed it. and guess: it was not "our problem"...it was a software bug... whats elso to say??? to be there for three times says everything ;-) thumbs up! for our luxor.
I booked a flight only to Luxor and thought it would be easy to find somewhere to stay. I was wrong as the hotels were fully booked as it was the egyptian holidays. I looked on trip advisor and found our Luxor flat. I rang up and asked if I could stay Edward said he would pick me up from the airport Edward is so loveable always laughing and full of advice. Freda is so calming and interesting. These are my views after staying with them for two weeks. The first thing that you notice when entering the apartment is the smell. So fresh and clean. Everything in this apartment has been well thought out pure luxury. I noticed something new each day. I've been to Luxor many times before always staying in hotels. However this time I had a different type of holiday Freda and Edward showed me the real Egypt showing me how to use the local bus and ferry. They saved me a lot of money. The location was great The people who lived and worked near the apartment are friendly and I was never hassled only helped. Edward and Freda took me out for afternoon tea many times I hold this couple in my Heart for all that they done for me including doing my washing and giving me ginger biscuits and lemon and honey tea to keep me going. Love to u Both xxx
Edward and Freda made our week long stay so special from start to finish that it is difficult to imagine getting better service in any 5 star hotel. The apartment is just perfectly decorated and provides all you would need. They made us feel at home and welcomed us into 'their Luxor so much so that it became 'Our Luxor' too. Nothing was too much and we are so very grateful for all those early morning breakfasts that got us on our way each day. Thanks for all the information and showing us where everything is and all the local tips that made the holiday so memorable for us. Thanks Freda for washing our clothes and all the other little touches. We had wanted to stay in an apartment whilst in Egypt so we could experience the local way of life and would thoroughly recommend 'Our Luxor' as Edward and Freda make you feel right at home and help you gain that experience,we were part of Luxor life for one memorable week.
