Sunny studio apartment with parking in the heart of historic London
Close to London's historic heart, this very popular modern apartment is a five-minute walk from the Tower of the London, the River Thames and many of London's top tourist attractions. It is on a quiet, private street, but just a few minutes walk f …
I brought my girls from Texas to see where I grew up. We spent 10 days in this apartment/flat.
The flat was small but cosy. The kitchen was very well equipped as was the bathroom. We had a small issue with the futon, but it worked out ok.
As far as the area, we had an absolute blast!
4 pubs and a grocery store within a few minutes walking distance. The Cape; The Captain Kidd; The Prospect of Whitby (if you want some real history) and The White Swan and Cuckoo. Waitrose grocery store is right across from The Cape. Then, of course, Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, St. Katherine's Dock and Tower Hill tube station are all within 10 minutes walking distance.
We were three adults staying there and that worked out fine, but any more than that would be very cramped.
The only thing Linda couldn't do anything about was the weather, it was cold and raining most of the time, but it didn't dampen our spirits.
Thank you for an enjoyable and affordable stay in London!
My 15 year old son and I just stayed a week in this bright, sunny and quiet flat and couldn't have felt more at home. The flat is small but well equipped, particularly the kitchen, and is a great place to return to after a long day's sightseeing. The location is very quiet while at the same time being close to many sites and is convenient to the Circle and District lines at Tower Hill, the Thames Clipper boats at Tower Hill wharf (highly recommended!) and a central bus line. The well-stocked grocery store between the tube and the flat made cooking fun and easy (and saved us so much money!) and the town of Wapping has everything you could want in easy walking distance - pubs, post office and beautiful river views. We never minded the walk from the tube to the flat and always enjoyed seeing the Tower, Tower Bridge and St. Katherine's Docks. Being close to many of the markets, shops and restaurants in the East End and Southwark was a great experience.
While I was initially concerned because there was only a washing machine and not a dryer, we found that laundry dried quickly on the drying racks that were provided. Everything else exceeded expectations and we were sad to leave. Recommended very highly!
The apartement was clean and quiet. To the next tube station 10 min to walk. Bus station (Wapping Health Center) 2 min. Pefekt, for visit london. Supermarkets are near by.
In the kitchen was all things we needed.
Onyl the sofa was not to be used as a bed. It was broken. That´s the reason why only 4 stars.
The neigbour is a friendly old man, very helpfull.
I staryed in this terrific little place for five weeks with my husband over Christmas. I had been here the year before, and did not hesitate to book it again. It is perfect for a couple. The apartment is clean, the bed is very comfortable, and the kitchen is perfect. I managed to cook Pheasant in the oven for Christmas dinner, and we had a little table with chairs so we enjoyed the meal!.
The location is the best part for me. 10-15 minute walk to Tower Hill station, which is on the circle and district line, and you have a terrific view of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London on the way. The apartment is also a 25-30 minute walk along the Thames to Borough Markets, which is (in my opinion) one of the best food markets in London. I love this end of London, and it is perfectly safe, and full of terrific restaurants and pubs. It really is the only place I want to stay when I visit!
A great apartment with everything you could need inside! As a lone woman traveller I was concerned about walking from the tube station to the apartment at night, however the walk is well lit and the area is mostly residential, I need not have worried. A 5 minute walk or a 10 minute stroll will bring you to tower hill or tower gateway tube/DLR stations and the walk along St Katherines Dock is lovely, especially when lit up at night. There are also several restaurants along here, although I only got time to try the Italian, which was excellent.
I used the apartment for a business trip, but would definitely return for pleasure and site seeing as well as some shopping ;)
A very successful stay in a well equipped apartment, well located and accurately described and advertised by the owner who was very helpful and accommodating. I will definitely be back and have already recommended it to friends and family. Thank you!
My friend and I stayed here for 2 weeks in December 2010, and we really enjoyed the location. It was a 15- 20 minute walk to Tower Hill station, which is a very central line. The place itself, while very neat, is probably only suitable for someone travelling by themselves, or a couple, as there is one bed and a foldout couch. Minor gripe: The fold out couch has a matress which doesn't really protect you from the hard wooden slats unfortunately!. Also the drain in the shower didn't seem to drain properly, so we had to shower in stages. Apart from that, it is a good place to have as a base when sightseeing in London.
I have both lived in and traveled extensively through the UK and Europe, and this was by far one of the best experiences. Linda is an excellent host. All of my questions and emails were answered promptly and the pictures do not do the flat justice. The welcome guide provided all the info you would need, and it was neat to see what other travelers had left and leave something myself. The bed is very comfortable and the washing machine helped me travel light. It is close to two stops on the tube, one underground at Tower Hill, one overground at Wapping, and being able to walk along the river on my way to the day's adventures was lovely. The chippy and the Indian restaurant on the high street are not to be missed along with dim sum and Italian at St. Katherine's, though most of the time I cooked in the excellent kitchen thanks to the well stocked Waitrose 5 minutes away. Also check out the Aldgate area markets & eateries. There is also a post office and a mini mart on the high street. The garden is peaceful and the area is very quiet at night. Arthur was an intersting and very good neighbor for the month I was there, able to point the way to some of the local watering holes. I cannot recommend this enough to a traveler wanting a real experience without the sterility of a hotel. I liked it so much, I've already reserved it for next year! Thanx again Linda!
I stayed here in May 2010 with my mother and 2 sisters for 2 weeks. We knew it was a studio apartment, but it did get a little crowded after a while, so I wouldn't recommend staying that long with that many people. It would be perfect for 2 or 3 people. It's larger than the average hotel room, and having a kitchen made it completely worthwhile for us. So nice to not always have to find a place to eat out after a long day.
The property itself was clean, and everything was in good working order (with the exception of the oven, which we never could figure out how to work, but I think that was more our problem than anything else). The apartment also could have used another blanket, seeing as there were 2 beds, but we were just fine without one.
The location of the apartment was great (very close to the Tower Bridge and Tower of London), although the 10-15 minute walk from Tower Hill at the end of every long day was tiring, but obviously doable. We had no problems with the neighbors, and found Arthur to be very charming and helpful. It was also really nice to have a few groceries already there in the apartment for the first day we got there. Another thing - the location of the Waitrose just a few blocks away was really great, as we were able to easily carry all our purchases home without a car and could pick something up on the way home if we wanted to.
The area around the apartment sort of dies down after about 5:00 (we didn't see a lot of nightlife, and most things were closed in the evening), but we didn't spend much time around the area and found ourselves going to bed early every night anyway to be rested for the next day.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. It was perfect as a home-base for sightseeing around London and taking several day trips out to other parts of England. If I'm ever back in London, I would definitely stay here again (albeit maybe not with so many people), and I will certainly recommend this apartment to any friends traveling there.
