I can really recommend this place. The bed is comfortable and the room spatious (for London standards). The landlord is a very nice chap with the right attitude, we spent some quality time in the living room talking about this and that and watching football.

MY stay at Casa Lysander couldn't have been any better. My trip was actually better because of where i stayed and Massi. Massi is very friendly and knows everything there is to know about london. I couldn't have made it a month without him there. My room was very comfortable. I had no issues. The location is very safe and close to many things. I recommend Casa Lysander without reservation.

We stayed here for two weeks. While the landlord/owner is very friendly and tries really hard and definitely has his heart in the right place, there is a lot about the apartment and set-up that made our stay difficult. To begin with, he failed to be at the property at the time of our arrival. We had let him know when we would be arriving and had even texted him from the airport; however, no one was home and we had to call him and were told he was "just going to finish his drink", and we ended up waiting 45 minutes at 1am for him to come home. The layout and the facilities of the apartment are quite cramped, made worse when both bedrooms are rented and the owner sleeps in the lounge. The lounge was generally inaccessible to us before 11 am because the owner was still sleeping and so we ended up having rather awkward and weird 'breakfast picnics' in bed nearly ever day, since there was nowhere else in the house to sit. None of the rooms have locks so there was nowhere for us to keep anything safe at all (documents, passports, laptops etc). The landlord stores some of his clothes in the room we let, and entered the room while we were out which made us rather uncomfortable! The kitchen is very small, with no microwave or working oven, or pots with handles, or bowls, making any simple or fast cooking impossible. Hot water is set on a timer and is non-existent, the best you can hope for is lukewarm water, even at the best of times. On a somewhat crazy note - we were at times both without electricity and gas. The landlord explained that these were on pay as you go cards and that we should go top them out in case they ran out - which we found incredibly unprofessional, as someone who rents out rooms to holiday guests should pay his bills and make sure the house has gas and electricity without pawning them off to his guests. Overall, while the landlord is friendly and the location excellent, the apartment is in no way set up for guests or as vacation accommodation. There is a lot the owner needs to improve, such as being present when guests arrive or making sure there is hot water, gas, electricity, and locks on the doors. HOST RESPONSE TO FEEDBACK: This is in response to my only negative review. The check in time, even in rated hotels, is limited. I was only made aware of late arrivals after accepting the booking. It was at 11pm, and I changed my plans with regards to this. Then at around 7pm, I had a phone call from the guest saying that their flight was late, and they did not know their arrival time yet, so I assured them that the late time will not be an issue and made myself available to them. Once they arrived at Heathrow,11:30pm, I gave them instructions for the check in and meet up, but they decided to change that without informing me and went directly to the property without letting me know while I was out, 1:30am on Friday. The apartment is exactly like in my description, 2 double bedroom, split level flat, and occasionally when I am in London, I use the lounge between 10pm and 10 am as my sleeping age. I never had any sort of problems in overcrowding the communal space. We've had up to 6 people on a short-term stay before and we've always shared the communal space without interfering with each other. During their stay with me, the guests and I had some issues with their untidiness; leaving the kitchen and lounge always disorderly and dirty that at times, my other guests had to clean up after them a few times. After a few days of this inconvenience, I spoke to them and explained the situation. Upon my arrival, I did explain to them that one of the two wardrobes in their rooms, contain my belongings and I did ask their permission to enter the room, and they had agreed. There is no lock on the door and there has never been an issue with this. If it was so important, they could have requested before their arrival or during their stay but they never did. This is a friendly-share flat, not a hostel or hotel. As an Italian, I love my cooking and are passionate about it. I have social dinners from time to time, with 3 to 4 course menus, and never had a problem with my equipment that I share with my guests. Microwaves do not exists for me. Hot water and heating have to be switched ON and OFF by the guests which I specify to all guests upon arrival. I was intending to go away for a few days and tried to explain to my existing customers how meter cads, gas, and electricity works in case they would need to top up. They would just need to purchase it and keep the receipt and I will immediately refund them; again, this is a flat and not a hostel, bed and breakfast, or hotel and they stayed for 2 weeks! Simple instructions should be easily be followed. I hope I never have this type of experience again, and I have learned from this. I would suggest to the guest to to check the facilities in the future before booking, or to book a hotel as they are not suitable for sharing.
