Very quiet and sunny with stunning views over Alfama roofs and Tagus river
Located in the heart of the medieval Moorish and Jewish neighborhood of Alfama, the apartment has a stunning view over the wide River Tagus estuary. At walking distance of some of Lisbon’s leading museums and monuments, the apartment has a choice …
This flat is excellent for people who are looking for an experience of Lisbon different from a standard hotel routine. The great view of the river Tagus is just one of the advantages; you can enjoy the lovely collection of CDs with fado and jazz music and peruse the city guides and history books in the cozy apartment when preparing your next-day walks. Our hostess, Cristina, provided helpful advice about places to see. Her kindness and attention to detail are commendable.
This apartment was all around great. The location is quiet, tucked neatly away in the charming, old cobblestone streets of Lisbon, and the view is beautiful. The apartment itself is kept clean, and is well-stocked both in the kitchen and with entertainment materials. There are collections of movies, Dvds, and a wealth of books on the topic of Lisbon. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to eat in. The access to the inner city and other parts of Lisbon are very easily accessible on the historic 28 tram, which is just a few steps away.
The owner, Cristina, was incredibly hospitable and friendly. She even provides her own map marked with groceries, amenities, and even some of her favorite places. She is very well organized and we appreciated that.
Everything was OK, the apartment well heated which is very important for nordic people like us (from Denmark) goes to the south in winter time. So many bad experiences .. but this was very good. The apartment is well situated, well equipped, nice river view, pieceful sorrounding and the organization level of the place is very high. Try it out! (We are two very critical persons!).
We had a very nice time in the apartment of Cristina. Cristina is a good and friendly host, who welcomed us with wine and fruit. We felt
right at home.
The apartment is spacious with a beautiful interior and all the comfort you need. And where do you find a hammockroom? Pleunie, who is just two years old, thought that this was the best feature of the apartment. And above all that, there are books, dvd's and cd's you can use. We especially liked the classical music and the old movies.
The view over the river Tejo and te old quarter Alfama, from the apartment, is spectacular. The apartment is located in the heart of Alfama. In the evening you will hear Fado-music coming through the window. It makes you feel that you are in the middle of Lisbon life. But don't worry, at night it is quiet for a good night sleep.
We loved to get lost in the maze that Alfama is. The narrow streets and staircases, the surprise of a new view when you go round a corner, the little shops and groceries. We felt blessed that we lived here for a week.
But you don't have to get lost, because Cristina will give you a accurate map of Alfama. So you won't have to seek for the famous and historical Tram 28, which will bring you, in a dazzling drop, to the centre of Lisbon. A stop is just a few steps from the apartment.
But perhaps was comming home to Alfama, after a day-trip, the best part of our Lisbon adventure. Because of the fairy-like feeling it's
getting from the streetlights. And relaxing in our apartment in the evening, while we watched the cruisships leave Lisbon, we felt glad that we could stay an other day.
To make a long story short, there is no reason not to rent this apartment. We left it, like Alfama and Lisbon, with pain in our hearts. But fortunately, the memory will stay.

Cristina is so well organized, trustworthy and no-nonsense hostess still warm and kind. We felt quite safe and taken care of. Couldn't have been better. Flat is amazing: details of decor, wooden floors, selection of music and books, good bed, immaculately clean... we felt at home the minute we stepped in. Of course the view over Tejo river is unbeatable. We didn't want to leave! Alfama is a village of its own, bohemian yet friendly and peaceful. We found everything we needed around the corner including a local fado place. Part of Lisbon that is very much to our liking. From flat is very easy to reach any other part of the city, imagine having the infamous tram 28 so close! Everything worked for us so beautifully. From now on Casa d'Alfama will be our home whenever in Lisbon. We'll recommend this flat to everybody we know. Cristina on upea emäntä! Kaikki mitä luvattiin piti ja enemmänkin.

Must be one of the best views in Alfama. You can just sit in the window, soak up the sun and watch the cruise ships tie up, down on the river. Very liveable, well-equipped apartment. Just a couple of minutes to the 28 tram and an easy 10-12 mi walk to the metro at Appolonia. Cristina was a delight to deal with and the information she provides is a real bonus - really helps the holiday go well. We especially enjoyed breakfasting in the sun looking out at that view.
EXCELLENT RENTAL; WE WILL COME BACK!
We had a lovely stay at os Telhados. Apartment had everything we needed and a great location! Truly great experience. We will be back.
This apartment was the best organized of the 7 apafrtments we have rented over the past three years. It is clean, well maintained and all kitchen resources at hand. One does not have to look around for paper towels, aluminum foil or plastic wrap as often can be the case.
The living room has a nice audio set up and there are multiple CD's of Fado and other music. The Wi-Fi functioned without fail as did the TV (although with so much to do outside, it was not overused).
The owner is most helpful: she assisted us with much luggage (6 month stay in Europe) from the train station to the entrance to the street level apartment. The streets are exceptionally narrow in this neigborhood (adding to its charm) but requires expertise beyond GPS. Christina has prepared the most detail local map complete with recommended sites that saves perhaps two days worth od aimless wandering. Her skills as a graphic artist and cartographer place her in the realm of the Swiss.
There are several small grocers nearby, Fado restaurants, worker's restaurants (great!), tourist restaurants, (2X price, 1/2 as good), barber shop, etc. within 5 minutes walk. The train staion is a 14 minute walk where foreign newspapers can be found. The #28 trolley passes within 2 minutes walk from the entrance and is a fun ride around town and up to the flea market.
We would certainly rent here again if we were to be in the Lisbon/Alfama district again.
Fantastic apartment with some lovely homely touches. We stayed as a couple with our 14 month old baby and the apartment was really spacious and all required baby equipment was provided. The apartment is larger enough to comfortably accommodate 4. Lisbon is a fantastic city and Alfama is the oldest part of town. The apartment is right in the heart of Alfama, amongst the ancient cobbled streets and Fado restaurants and just a few steps from a viewing terrace offering great views over Alfama and down to the river. It's not at all far to walk into the centre or you can take the famous old tram 28! Will definately be going back to Lisbon and will definately stay here when we do. Thanks Cristina!
After many hours of walking the cobblestone streets of Lisbon the apartment is the perfect place to call home ! Away from the diesel smells and big city hustle. Alfama is the best location in Lisbon to stay . And the apartment is situated perfectly . Cafes with delicious coffee and baked goods, grocery shops , restaurants with Fado( the local music ) are all your neighbors !!!!
The apartment has beautiful Views from the double open doors and windows of roof tops, and the river. Very sunny in the afternoon so perfect for hanging your laundry on the line like the locals ! Apartment has everything you can think of ! Very well organized. Good bed and shower. We enjoyed listening to CDs of Portuguese artists every morning. Also there is an informative DVD of Lisbon within her DVD collection. Christina the owner was wonderful and replied back right away to my texts. She gave great suggestions for local restaurants and music. We will stay here again if we return to Lisbon.
Lisbon was wonderful, but Cristine's apartment made our stay even better! Cristine could not have provided a better "customer service" experience for us. The detailed, personalized map, the welcome bottle of wine and bowl of fruit were just some of the touches that made this apartment so great. The pictures do not do the apartment or the outstanding view of the Alfama and the river justice. We enjoyed coming back during the day to relax with a glass of wine, listen to some of the many cd's and sit back and watch the passing ships and neighborhood life around us.
The apartment was very artistically and tastefully decorated, and very clean and well stocked with everything anyone would need. I highly recommend this apartment and the Alfama neighborhood in Lisbon. Thank you Cristine for such a special place to call home in Lisbon.
Cristina is the perfect host! She provided detailed and valuable information how to reach the apartment before our arrival and it worked great.
The apartment is exactly as described and seen on the pictures. It was very clean and it were the little things that made our stay perfect. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you could think of. Also the fresh fruit on our arrival as well as the perfect map of the Alfama with Cristinas tips was just awesome.
We travelled with our little daughter (2 yrs) and can definitely recommend the apartment.
The walk to the the tram 28 is not far and the stairs are part of the Alfama experience, which we didn't mind.
The apartment is really great and we appreciated all of Cristinas help very much!
Highly recommendable accomodation for Lissabon!
The apartment is located in the hear of the Alfama. Train stations, tram stops and local sites are all easily accessible by woalking ofr by a short train ride. The apartment is spacious and tastefully decorated. The kitchen has everything one could need and the apartment is stocked with lots of books and games. The balconies offer a nive view of the waterfront. In short, Casa D'Alfalma is gem and I enjoyed my stay immensely.
The icing on the cake is the owner Cristina. She went out of her way to help us with parking and navigating the area. Her custom made maps of the area and local knowledge were very helpful. A lovely apartment with a lovely lady to make sure your stay is enjoyable.
We travel a lot and usually stay in an apartment rather than a hotel. This was one of the best places we have stayed at. Very well located in an old building with charm and dignity, bright, airy, clean. The river views are breathtaking. The apartment is very well equipped, not only the kitchen, but also the rest: books, movies, games. The owner is very friendly. Seven stars!
This was so far the best apartment where we've stayed. Cristina greeted us with the utmost cordiality, although we arrived late in the evening. As welcome gift we found a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit.
The apartment is very comfortable, spacious and bright, with a fantastic view over the river Tagus. The kitchen is very functional, well equipped. Everything very clean.
For those curious about Portuguese culture, there is a collection of Fado CDs and Portuguese movies. There is also an excellent choice of books about Lisbon and about Portugal.
Alfama neighborhood is very picturesque, with its narrow narrow cobbled streets, medieval houses, ancien city walls, clothes drying out of the windows. I just couldn't stop taking pictures. There are many small groceries and nice restaurants. All that we needed to spend a fantastic week in Lisbon! Thank you Cristina!! We will be back soon!!!
We came to Casa D'Alfama from Germany with our three kids (10,8 and 2 years old) and all of us where totaly impressed by this beautifull flat. Not only the perfect river view, but also everything else was perfect. The nice furniture, very comfortable beds, everything one could need for a nice stay was there - starting in the kitchen with all you need for nice cooking and not ending in the living room with beautiful fado-cd's. Really nice!! The owner is a very friendly lady, speaks German - which was very helpful for us. One of the best surprises she had for us: A extremely good map of the Alfama, which she made herself, with lots of suggestions for food, fado and shops.
We felt so good in Casa D'Alfama, thank you Christina! We will come back.
My family and I stayed at Casa d’Alfama during New Year 2012. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The apartment is perfect for a family of four. Great location and a wonderful view overlooking the Tejo river and the rooftops of Alfama. Close to the city centre and public transport. Christina greeted us at our arrival and made us feel very welcome. We felt at home in the apartment from the first minute. The flat is very clean and with all you need for a perfect relaxed vacation, from kitchen utilities, to cooking books, games and fado music. We are looking forward to go back.

We stayed for four nights and really liked the place. Great location! Flat is very nice, lot of IKEA furniture though.
Man möchte direkt einziehen!
We had a wonderful stay at Casa d’Alfama. The apartment was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was fantastic. The owner Cristina was the best! She was so helpful with suggestions for the area and places to visit. Super views over the river! We can't wait to come back!!
Casa de Alfama is very comfortable, well organized and, romantic place in Alfama – old district of Lisbon. A view from frond windows is marvellous, and labyrinth of small colourful street, stairways and passages will take you to another world of old Lisbon with vibrant Casa de Fados, restaurants, taverns. It has easy access to public transport and it is perfect place to stay for people who want to taste flavour of Lisbon.
As described, the apartment is in a quiet location and has a very nice view of the river. The location is great for exploring the surrounding neighborhood, and Christina's recommendations for places to see, restaurants, etc., were very useful. The apartment itself exceeded our expectations - it feels like staying in the home of a friend with very good taste who has spent a lot of time and energy on it -
