Lx*Blue Room Luxy Apartment
Located in the typical Alfama — where we find the soul of Lisbon — the apartment is located at the foot of São Jorge Castle, just behind the Sé Cathedral. Is 10 minutes away from Portela International Airport, 10 minute walk from the train station Santa Apolónia and minutes of the most emblematic neighborhoods in Lisbon.
The Blue Room is located on the third floor of a seventeenth century building, which offers a privileged view of the Tagus and the streets of the historic district of Alfama. The room is very spacious, has 25m2, private bathroom and one double bed. You also have free WiFi Internet. All details have been carefully thought and planned. So nothing is missing! You can enjoy the wonderful and cozy kitchen and also have a nice talk with your hosts, Thierry and Vanessa, who can give you the best tips to walk around and get to know Lisbon.
All guests of the rooms have free access to attend a concert or have a drink in Ondajazz (except special concert).
The Location – Alfama
Visiting Alfama is to visit the architecture, the sounds and the smells of old Lisbon. This is one of the most typical quarters of Lisbon. On its narrow and winding streets you'll find the hidden treasure of Alfama and on its steep stairs you will be able to breathe the soul of Lisbon. Alfama is located in a hill over the Tejo and going through it´s small streets you will find unique views over the river. In this area of Lisbon are located the one of the bests viewpoints in the city: Portas do Sol, Santa Luzia, Santa Clara.
Don´t forget that in Alfama you can find tree hotspot´s of Lisbon: The must see Castle of S. Jorge, the new Fado Museum and the Nacional Pantheon, were you can learn more about some Portuguese figures that built our history.
The area is well communicated with several buses: 712 and 34; metro station: blue line, and train station. The tram is within 500 meters of the apartment.
In Alfama, it is still possible to see Roman and Arab remains, two of the most dominant civilizations in Lisbon's past. There are narrow streets resulting from Muslim culture, guided by individualistic rules where public spaces are not important. The narrow streets are a mark of the Coran, where little value is given to facades but a much greater value is given to the interiors of the houses. Alfama was once home to the unlucky, delinquents or non-grateful and due to its proximity with the river it was also the home of many sailors.
That's not much more to say … it's just perfect and near everything you may need: bares, night clubs, restaurants, shops, pharmacy …

The house, where the room is located, is situated in the most traditional quarter of Lisbon, Alfama. The building was constructed just after the earthquake of Lisbon on 1755. The room has a magnificent view over the Tagus river. I live in the apartment with my boyfriend and we share the bathroom and the kitchen.
The oldest district of Lisbon, it spreads down the southern slope from the Castle of São Jorge to the Tagus river. Its name, derived from the Arabic Al-hamma, means fountains or baths. During the Islamic invasion of Iberia, the Alfama constituted the largest part of the city, extending west to the Baixa neighborhood. Increasingly, the Alfama became inhabited by fishermen and the poor: its fame as a poor neighborhood continues to this day. While the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake caused considerable damage throughout the capital, the Alfama survived with little damage, due to its compact labyrinth of narrow streets and small squares. It is a historical quarter of mixed-used buildings of homes with small shops, Fado bars and restaurants.
It's strategic location comes along with additional advantages;
- At two minute walk from the 'Santa Apolonia' metro station.
- Alfama is the oldest Quarter of the city with a good variety
of restaurants and cafes, and the best fado houses available.
- The house is conviniently located near by the Feira da Ladra (outdoor Flea market).
- Close to: National Panteão, Monastery of São Vicente,
Fado Museum and Military Museum.
- Lux Nightclub.
We welcome you!
