    Reviews

      We spent two wonderful weeks at the Lisbon Cottage. The owner was very helpful and responsive. The accommodations and amenities were offered as described. Will recommend to all of our friends!!!
      The house is great! We'd recommended it to our friends and to anyone interested in staying in Lisbon. The photos look good, but in reality it's even better. The rooms are big as is the bathroom. The house has an exceptional tasteful and stylish interieur with lots of marmer, great stairs and is nicely decorated. It is thoughtfully designed, clean and the lights give it a chique & pleasant atmosphere. The kitchen is well equiped and the house is completely silent at night. We came to see Lisbon, but found that it is no punishment to stay an evening at home in this place. The location could not be better. It's near the centre, but still no problem to go to places to see aswell as getting in and out of the city (by car or public transportation). There is a parking place at walking distance and some nice restaurants & supermarkets aswell. The owner met us at arrival and gave us a very thorough introduction to the house and good tips about Lisbon. He is a very nice guy and goes to great length to help you with anything. All in all a very comfortable stay. We would not consider staying anywhere else in the great city of Lisbon for the next visit.
      It's a small apartment, perfectly located in the center of Lisbon, but very quiet. The house is equipped with really everything you need, well maintained and furnished with taste. It has air conditioning, but we never used it because the house was fresh, particularly in the evening and during the night. Perfect for a family, we surely recommend it for either short or long stays in the fantastic Lisbon.
      Very nice apartment in a perfect location. Very clean, well-equipped and well maintained. Justo received us warmly.He gave us all kinds of tips. Nice restaurants, transport, shops, etc.This is the ideal address for exploring the city. We will definitely be back. Definitely recommended!
      The house is fantastic. Even better than what the pictures show! Great location in a very quiet area. Walking distance from Bairro Alto and Chiado. Confortable beds and full equipped! It has everything you need. The owners were really nice and they were waiting for us at the house to welcome and to explain how things work. They were really helpful!! We'll come back to this place with no hesitation! Highly recommended!!
Grazie ancora Obrigado!!!!
      Perfect location, quiet but close to everything. Shops and restaurants nearby. The cottage is lovely and stocked with everything you need. Owners were very helpful and there was a lot of travel material available. We'll use it again.
      It's the perfect place to explore the city! Quite area and everything is so close; and it's beautiful! Well done guys!!

      Apartment in Lisbon 126 - Alfama - managed by travelingtolisbon
      Do you remember that famous movie where someone said that the last floor is always the best? Well this is the case of flat 126. It is located on the 4th floor (no elevator) of a building at Alfama, one of the most typical neighborhoods of Lisbon.
      Very luminous and breathtaking views are the keywords to describe this two bedroom cozy apartment.
      Just in front of the apartment you will find the Fado Museum. It is also a short walking distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods of Baixa and Chiado. Nearby you have all kinds of traditional commerce.
      It is also 5 minutes walking distance to the subway and international train station of Santa Apolónia.
      The apartment has 75 m2 and it has been recently renovated to include the following:
      *
      one bedroom with a double bed (160 cm * 200 cm);
      *
      one bedroom with one single bed (80 cm * 185 cm) and one single sofa bed (80 cm * 190 cm);
      *
      a living room with dining and sitting areas, one double sofa bed (140 cm * 190 cm), Tv (Portuguese channels only), DVD player and Hi-Fi;
      *
      a complete kitchen with gas stove and oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and a washing machine;
      *
      a complete bathroom with bathtub.
      In wintertime the apartment is heated with electric heaters.
      UMTS internet connection with USB plug can be provided upon request (10,00€/day).
      We will welcome you with a bottle of wine.

      There are several apartments in Alfama, the neighborhood of apartment 126. It is the medieval Moorish neighborhood where an emerging cosmopolitanism mixes with the “natives” day-to-day life. It is a village in the heart of the city, due to the fact that most of Alfama’s residents have lived here their entire lives and retain a strong sense of community.
      Alfama was first settled by the Romans and Visigoths and was an important Jewish neighborhood in the 15th century, but it was the Moors who gave the district its atmosphere and name (al hamma means springs, a reference to the hot springs used as baths until the 17th century). It is crowned by São Jorge castle, which was built by the Visigoths in the 5th century and enlarged by the Moors in the 9th century.
      Be surprised by Alfama's narrow cobblestone alleyways, stairs and squares, built on a rock-hill that was responsible for its survival after the big 1755 earthquake that destroyed most of the medieval city. A walk through this old-fashioned residential neighborhood is now a step back in time.
      It is an ideal place to explore hidden places, stunning views over the city, the river Tejo, restaurants, fado houses, or even to dance and eat sardines during the popular June festivals. Here you can find numerous little grocery shops, taverns and small restaurants - most having no more than 3 tables. At the edge of the Alfama, Lisbon's renowned flea market, the Feira da Ladra, is held in the Campo de Santa Clara every Tuesday and Saturday.
      Contrasting with these timeless images is a trendy modern development by the waterfront across from Santa Apolónia train station which houses stylish design shops, restaurants and bars, like the famous "Lux".
      You are also very close to theFado and Portuguese guitar Museum: Situated at Largo do Chafariz de Dentro. It is a place where you can have a historical visit through the most traditional Portuguese music -Fado- and famous Portuguese fado singers like Amalia Rodrigues, Carlos do Carmo and Mariza. During the summer (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays) you can dinner in a small square of the museum and listen to Fado, live! A night program you certainly won’t miss!
      Another astonishing building next door to the apartment isCasa dos Bicos (House of Facets). It was built in 1523 at the time of king Manuel I and is faced with diamond-shaped stones, probalby influenced by the Italian renaissance.
      If you decide to go further up, passing Alfama you will find an astonishing view of the city from Miradouro da Graça or from the one where is the church of St. Maria do Monte da Graça. You will also be able to visit a Spanish barroque style monastery S. Vicente de Fora (mark of the Spanish domination of Portugal until 1640).
      From this apartment you can explore the rest of the city walking to the castle (S. Jorge) or to Baixa, Bairro Alto, Chiado or Santa Clara.
