#2 Premium Campsie Room
This is a listing for one bedroom on the second floor of Scruffy Old Campsie Guesthouse. The second floor rooms are nicer than the downstairs rooms – they are set up like they would be in a share house complete with a separate entrance to the floor. It is a bit more of a “home” like environment. We are one of the cheapest places to stay simply because our building is “scruffy” and “old” as the name says!
Room 2 has a double bed and a set of bunks so can sleep up to four people if needed. There is also a study desk, cupboard and set of drawers.
It's a four bedroom house with one bathroom on this level. There is a common lounge/dining area. The house is a little dated — the kitchen is 1960's and showing some wear and tear. The bathroom is also a little outdated, but fully functional and clean. The house is kept to better-than-hostel standards, but not five star hotel standard. Everyone who stays here is expected to help keep the common areas clean. A house cleaner is provided once a week to help with cleaning.
I do not live on the property so this booking is suitable for those who are truly independent travelers and need little assistance. My father is a caretaker here and happy to talk over a beer but mostly you will be left alone to get on with your stay! There are usually some longer term guests in the house either upstairs or downstairs and they are also great sources of information on the local areas.
If you have never shared a house, or lived out of home before, or prefer not to share common areas this property would not suit you. If you are easy going and don’t mind making new friends then this place will be ideal – some of our guests have stayed as long as ten months!
Rooms are fully furnished and linen is provided, along with private fridges. The lounge room has cable TV/Foxtel. There is however no air conditioning – just fans.
You would share the courtyard and laundry with the others on this property and the verandah too. So far noise from downstairs has never been an issue for anyone upstairs and it's a quiet place. We are not at all a party guesthouse so this is perfect for those who are working or studying or who value privacy and a relaxed environment.
There is an outside laundry with coin operated washing machines and dryers. Smoking is only outside in the courtyard.
Wifi is free although sometimes a bit patchy upstairs so you are welcome to go downstairs to get better signals.

I have a recently renovated double room to offer in a townhouse which is conveniently located in the upcoming suburb of Marrickville with easy access by train and bus to Sydney City and the groovy inner west suburbs of Newtown, Enmore, Glebe, Leichhardt. The house is approximately twenty minutes by train to Sydney Central.<br><br>The bathroom, kitchen and living areas are clean and tidy and shared with two other permanent residents including myself. There is wifi access and space for parking if required. The property is located in a quiet area next to a river and parklands but is also very close to cafes, restaurants, bars and shopping in the surrounding areas.<br><br>The room can accommodate a single person or couple in a double bed. Located in the heart of Rockdale, a suburb only 13km south of Sydney's Central Business District (CBD). 2 minutes walk to Rockdale train station and bus interchange. 20 minutes on the train to Central Station. Direct bus (no. 400) to the airport in 10 minutes. 15 minutes walk to Brighton-le-sands beach on Botany Bay. Or stay on the train to Bondi Junction, then hop on a bus for a short ride to the famous Bondi Beach (about 40 minutes). Train going south in the other direction will take you right to Cronulla Beach.</span></p>
<p><span>This furnished bedroom is equipped with two single beds which can also be pushed together and made up as a large king bed for a couple. The bedroom contains a large-built-in wardrobe, plus mirror, TV with built-in DVD player, dressing table and two bed lamps. <p><span>Two blocks down the street, less than 10 minutes on foot, is a large shopping mall (Rockdale Plaza), which has two huge supermarkets and many other shops.</span></p>
