    Reviews

We stayed at this lovely Lafayette apartment while in the East Bay Area visiting our son and his family. This is a great location with easy access to the freeways and BART (when they aren't on strike). Apartment is as featured in the pictures, very clean and a wonderful alternative to hotel living. Be sure to visit Diablo Foods and Paxti's in Lafayette. Good breakfasts at Millie's Kitchen also. Can't wait for our next visit to the Bay Area. Only channel missing was The Big Ten Network, go Bucks!
The apartment was light and airy with beautiful views. The photos well describe the place. Clean and well maintained. Lovely sunny outside area to enjoy. Definitely need a car to get you to activities or sightseeing. I would recommend this apartment to relatives and friends..
Recently both my husband and I had the good fortune to come upon this property. Our family is in the Bay Area - so, the location was ideal. Don Piper is very professional, the property is fully equipped (even your own private washer/dryer,) very comfortable for two adults. We plan to be back as often as we can.
This was my second stay here. I've encountered the fireplace issue previously, but I understood the situation. Don has every amenity down, so I'm sure if he could have expedited the fireplace he would have. Staying there in the summer was even better as the days were warm and airy so you can enjoy the private pool. Everything was clean with top grade equipment and supplies. Quiet location and easy access to the town or freeways. All the windows open up to a pretty greenery making it difficult to leave. Only bummer is lack of regular condiments; cooking oil, seasonings or basics. I enjoy cooking and I have no problem getting the main stuff, but what do I do with a bottle of oil when I depart? Not much to complain other than that. Will be coming back!
Very nice unit in a beautiful setting. The property is very well maintained...extremely clean and good quality appointments. TV has every channel anyone could ever ask for, wifi worked great, easy to use gas fireplace, and good AC if needed. The owner was very thorough in explaining everything on the property and quick to remedy any gliches. Very easy access to freeway to go to SF, and BART nearby. Kitchen had everything needed, but if you don't want to cook, lots of nice restaurants in Lafayette as well as Whole Foods, Diablo Foods and Safeway have good takeout.
Perhaps my expectations were too high due to other reviews, but I was very unhappy with the cleanliness of the apartment. I realize that the owner was trying to get a new gas fireplace installed, however it created a substantial amount of construction dust/dirt which still covered everything when we arrived. In addition, there were cobwebs and a few dead bugs around, that indicates cleanliness is not an important quality. We had to clean the apartment before we felt comfortable. The positive is that the location is great - very close to downtown, while maintaining a quiet, secluded environment. Walking distance to the Lafayette Reservoir for walking or running.
We had a wonderful month recently at this property. The description and photos were very accurate. The property is in a lovely residential area with excellent views of the mountains. There is an excellent, private patio with a beautiful stone fireplace surrounded by mature green landscaping. We were able to walk or bike into the cute village of Lafayette with many shops and restaurants. Don, the owner, is very pleasant and extremely accommodating. We will definitely be returning to this property.
We stayed here while visiting our family in Orinda. The location was convenient for us, and we agree with the positive comments in previous reviews. We appreciated that Don met us when we arrived and took time to show us around the apartment. We liked having him nearby (he lives upstairs), knowing that he was responsive to any needs we had, while we felt we had total privacy. We also liked the motion sensor lights that light up the walkway to the door from the guest parking space at night, which is an example of the attention to detail at this apartment.
The place was very neat & clean. We made smores with fire place with grandkids and walked several times to Layfette Reservoir (5 miles). Very convenient location for us. Said once that toaster was a bit funky and a replacement was purchased.
This well-designed apartment is lovely, comfortable, and fully equipped with an attractive kitchen and full-size appliances. There is complete privacy, and every accoutrement has been provided! We enjoyed our winter stay, and a swimming pool and outdoor sitting area and barbeque area are located adjacent to the apartment for summertime use. The unit is located in a lovely neighborhood and handy to public transportation (BART). Parking is available, and the location is just a few miles from downtown Lafayette.
We loved our stay at Rahara Rental. Don is a fantastic host. He responded quickly even though he was on vacation at the time of our request. That was greatly appreciated. Everything was as described, very clean and well maintained. We have already recommened it to friends. We will rent it again when we are in the area. We loved Lafayette Park and it is so close. The area is beautiful. We are looking forward to more time there. Thanks Don for making this property available.
I live in Lafayette but rented this private guest house/apartment for my visiting parents. They loved it. We could spend the days together, they could watch their grandson play Acalanes football, and then they could retire for the evening with privacy. We have a small home and no guest room at this time so using Don's apartment is perfect. He was gracious and easy to communicate with. They'll be back and I hope to rent this peaceful place again.
We rated our stay excellent because it did not have a category for OUTSTANDING! Don is an outstanding host, helpful and considerate. I felt like we were at home very comfortable, great location, great weather. We would definitely recommend it, and we would definitely stay there again. Loved Diablo Foods. GO NAVY!
