Luxurious Home w/ Pool & View
We purchased this custom craftsman (“arts and crafts” style) home in May 2013, because we loved its unique character, serene feel, and unobstructed eastern view. We have furnished it with top quality pieces and every amenity, paying close attenti …
This house was great. My family absolutely loved it. It is on a quite street, so if you have young children that still nap, it's perfect for that. The outdoor space was amazing, I come from a family that is outside all the time, and many of our nights here were spent outside in the hot tub and around the fire pit. There is plenty of seating outside, and inside for dinners. We had one elderly relative with us who stayed in the back room on the first floor, just off the kitchen. It was close to the bathroom, which was perfect for her, and there were no stairs in and out of her room. The den area is large, with a good tv, and channels. The couch sits many people, which we utilized to play board games and such. The pool table is really nice quality, and since I have a competitive family, it definitely saw some action. You have to drive to restaurants and the beach, but it is a good sacrifice for some peace and quite when you are with your family. If you want a party place, this is not it, it is in a obvious family neighborhood, there is a large hill down the back, and it is a nice home, with some upscale accommodations. The pool was a little to cold to swim in, but in January that is to be expected. It wasn't warm enough outside during the week we were there to swim anyway, so not too big of a problem. There is a gas fireplace in the living room that does a great job of warming up the main area of the house. We had the windows open most of the time, so it would get a little chilly just as the sun went down, before we would get them closed. My aunt loved sitting in the rocking chair next to it. There are plenty of towels and beach towels, as well as quality laundry appliances if you need to wash anything. The kitchen was great, I don't think we went out for more than one meal, because anything we would need to prepare food was available. There is also a wet bar sink on the opposite side of the kitchen near where you would make any drinks. Also, my family and I are active and some of us bike often, the main road (Soledad Mountain Road) has a great bike lane the whole way up, and the run to the top of the mountain is great, and has amazing views. All and all, it was a great stay.
This house was a nice place to enjoy our La Jolla vacation (12 people from babies to boomers). The area was close to everything and the house was very well furnished and comfortable. The internet connection and electronics worked well. The pool and foosball tables and the jacuzzi were heavily used. The price was also very reasonable for the area.
Good-sized house, tastefully decorated, in a very nice neighborhood (close to an unbelievably wealthy neighborhood). Large patio, nice well-kept pool and hot tub, large gas BBQ. Great view, probably 30-40 miles including mountains in the distance on a clear day. Big gourmet kitchen, well-equipped. Game room in the garage with a quality pool table. Everything was clean and in very good shape. The landlord stopped by on the day we arrived to see if there was anything we needed, and was easily reachable when we couldn't figure out the cable box.
This place could fit a pretty big group with the kitchen and large great room. The dining table would be good for at least 16 people. We had dinner for 12 people at one time without any crowding. There was more than enough seating by the pool for all of us.
We use VRBO properties frequently, and this one definitely ranks in the top 10% of places that we have rented in the past. Can't go wrong here!
This was a beautiful house, that my family and I loved. The house is well equipped and everything is new. It got very hot outside one day, but the house stayed cool. The pool and jacuzzi were nice and warm. I loved reading my book in the backyard, where it was tranquil. The owner was such a sweetie, she recommended places to go, checked in with us to make sure we were enjoying our vacation, and asked if there was anything we wanted for the home. My kids loved Belmont park and sea world, while my favorite was kayaking in La Jolla shores, all of which the owner recommended to us. If I ever want to go to La Jolla again I will definitely be staying here again.
Laura, Thanks so much for everything. We have rented homes nine times through VRBO and your house was the best so far!! The pool area was key!! Between the fire pit, jacuzzi, pool, BBQ and games, all three generations were happy and together. Really appreciated your activity recommendations and groupon links. My 92 year old mother had a blast paddleboarding with the little ones!! Thanks so much for everything.
Stayed at this lovely vacation home in La Jolla and can't say enough nice things about it. It's in a great location, near lots of beaches and restaurants etc. The house itself is roomy, loved the lay out, the pool out back and Jacuzzi were clean and fun. Plenty of amenities included (loved the pool table in the garage) and it was convenient for shopping and the highways. Even though it's above the highway you can't really hear the cars/noise, no more than living on any other street tbh. Overall I strongly recommend this place, me and my party enjoyed ourselves immensely and the owners went out of their way to make everything comfortable for us.
- Attentive owner (came over when the TV stopped working, only to discover that the wire was not plugged in)
- Great location, convenient to everything
- Nice view. Not the ocean, but the sunrise is beautiful over the desert.
- Really nice peaceful feel to the house. Very relaxing.
- Beautifully furnished, everything is incredibly comfortable. (I could literally live in the sofa!)
- Owner gave us great tips for what to see/do, things that were not typically tourist traps.
There is a huge, very steep hill behind the house. I'm not sure I would want to have young active kids exploring that hill. At the bottom of the hill, there is the highway, I-5. We could not hear any noise from inside the house. It is very faint outside the house, but it is audible. With the jacuzzi on, we could not hear it.
You need to drive to everything. There are no restaurants or shops within walking distance.
We recently stayed at this property and were some what disappointed. The location of this property sitting right above the I5 motorway ruined our holiday. the address - Desert View?? no mnotorway and industrial estate view. We found it very noisy so therefore didn't use the garden and swimming pool too much as it was not relaxing. It was Impossible to sleep with the windows open, so we were very warm, although the owner did buy us one fan.
The kitchen was not terribly well equipt but the house was large and spacious
We had such a great experience in LaJolla. The design and layout of the house created the right atmosphere for a family gathering. With three generations sharing space, everyone was comfortable and enjoyed our time together whether cooking on the grill and emjoying the pool/spa/ fire pit or trips to the beach and other surrounding sites!
We rented this home two weeks after the owner purchased the home and it was still in the process of being furnished. We only used 3 of the bedrooms (Laura, the owner, had told me the others would not be ready), so we cannot comment on the entire house. The house was beautiful, and the furniture was really top notch. I cannot stress this enough. This is not a typical rental unit. It is furnished much nicer than my home!!
Before we rented, we were concerned about road noise, as google maps shows the property as being right next to the highway. But we were happy to find that the highway is so far below the home, that there was no noise. When we walked out in the back, we could hear it, but only very slightly. The house has a very peaceful, relaxing feel to it.
It is the most kid-friendly place we have stayed at. My kids (ages 8-16) enjoyed the pool, pool table, surf board, bogey board, and board games.

Gorgeous and comfortable Cape Cod hilltop home. Perfect for families, couples or singles. In this Sunset Cliff neighborhood, reminiscent of the hills of San Francisco, you are close to everything.
There is room to spread out and be by yourself. Escape for quiet time in a spa bath. Then, sit in a nice cozy family room and gather around the fireplace or big screen TV for sports or movies. Bring along your favorite musician to play the baby grand piano. Allow kids or pets to romp around the backyard or take a siesta on the hammock under the large shade trees. Ho-hum, another day in paradise.
Downstairs, the main bedroom is a soothing and elegant retreat with a queen bed. Immediately adjacent is a room with full size bunkbeds. A "master" bathroom is alongside this area. On the other side of the downstairs, is a bedroom with full bed and bathroom.
Upstairs is the spacious master bedroom and bathroom, equipped with a shower and Jacuzzi tub. Catch the sunset and ocean views from this room and see why this a million dollar+ retreat. Down the hall is the office/game room equipped with computer capability, foos ball and Wi. Another room can sleep two with a daybed and trundle. Across from that is a "click-clack" sofa bed that converts to a full size bed.
Just outside this room, step out onto the balcony and sip wine while you take in the lovely blue Pacific. Here, you can cap off your fun-filled day visiting the many sites San Diego offers by watching sailboats and the sunset from the outdoor balcony or front yard seating. See if you catch the "green flash," a blaze of green just before the sun sinks into the horizon. It will be hard to decide which day's sunset is the prettiest. Hues of orange, red and pink paint the sky at the close of the day and reflect off the ocean.
Walk to the white sand beaches to sunbathe, for a cool dip in the Pacific, or take along your surfboard and "hang ten." If your dog needs to socialize, there is the "world famous" Dog Beach. Browse the antique shops along Newport Avenue. Enjoy shopping in Wednesday afternoon's farmers market in Ocean Beach. It is a real "happening." If you don't mind the wait, line up behind the locals for a juicy, original hamburger at Hodad's or stop for a scrumptious fish taco in the restaurants nearby.
Visit the lighthouse at Cabrillo National Monument and take in more awesome views of the ocean. Not too far away (5 minutes) is Point Loma's Liberty Station where families will enjoy the Corvette Diner and other restaurants. (Sammy's Woodfired Pizza is a must try). For golf enthusiasts Liberty Station also has a golf course.
Sea World is a 7-10 minute drive. Downtown's Gaslamp District is a short ten minutes away for world-class restaurants. Take in a flamenco show at Casa Sevilla. Old Town State Park, one of California's most visited sites, offers a glimpse into early California. Great Mexican restaurants and only 10 minutes away. San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park, are also a 10-minute drive.
So conveniently located you won't have to deal with the stress of traffic. Ocean, sunshine, comfort, and elegance. What are you waiting for? Get to the point! Pelican Point Inn. We would love to host you.
