This was one of the best vacay's ever! The house is majestic, comfortable, & with a sceneic view. The picture on the website does not give this house justice until seen in person. David & cathy from Domestic Divas were easy to deal with & made sure everything was comfortable for our trip. I would vacay in a heartbeat!
Spending the week in this house made for a memorable business trip. The architecture and design is exquisite and the interior is warm and inviting. It was the perfect setting for entertaining our clients right down to the fixtures and furnishings which are top of the line. Also David, the owner was able to accommodate us while half way around the world. Thanks David for making our business trip a huge success.!
Gorgeous architecture and breathtaking views made for a wonderful trip. Talk about impressing our clients, we had the opportunity to use the beautiful house as our San Diego office for a few days. The house is exquisitely furnished down to the historic plaque at the entry. Thanks David, for the hospitality and the convenience of conducting the whole transaction even though you were half a world away.
We had a small family reunion in this house in June of this year and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There were 7 of us, ranging in age from 10 to 79 and having 5 bedrooms on one floor was wonderful. The location in La Jolla, very close to La Jolla Village and La Jolla Cove, was very convenient. The owner, David, met us at the house on the first day to show us around and answer any questions about how things worked. He also has a notebook in the house that provides information about restaurants in the area, how to work the TV (complete with pictures of which remote is used for what), and other useful information you might need while staying in the house. David even provides information about specials at different restaurants, so you can plan your dining in a budget-friendly way if you like. We tried 2 of his recommendations while in La Jolla – Nine Ten and Piatti, and really enjoyed both.
The kitchen may be the best equipped kitchen we’ve come across in a rental house. There wasn’t a single item that we needed while we were there and couldn’t find, and we did eat several meals at the house. In addition to dishes and appliances, paper towels, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, garbage bags, laundry detergent, dish detergent, toilet paper are all provided generously. We did not have to replace any of these items during our stay.
One of my favorite things about the house was the several patios from which to enjoy the perfect La Jolla weather, including one “upper deck” with a view to the ocean. That was my favorite place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or a cup of coffee in the morning. My only regret about our stay is that I didn’t spend more time up there!
Most of the beds have Tempurpedic mattresses, which is another nice plus of the property, especially if you are already used to this at home!
There are 2 living areas – one with the big screen TV, and one that is more of a sitting area with a desk. When the kids were watching TV, the adults were able to gather in the sitting room if it was getting too chilly for the patio. There is also a desk in that room, so if you need to work while staying here, this room would be a great place to do it.
The house is on Torrey Pines Blvd, which gets pretty busy during the day, so be aware of that. If you are particularly sensitive to noise you may want to bring earplugs or choose a bedroom that’s not on the street side of the house, because depending on the weather, you may be sleeping with the win
David's home was perfect for my reunion of 10 of my best friends. We slept well as the beds were incredibly comfortable, we cooked and barbequed using the kitchen's top notch appliances and the grill outside, watched sports on the crystal clear 64" wall-mounted flat screen, and spent several hours on (both) back patios chatting around the large table and enjoying the beautiful view of the ocean. Easy to deal and communicate with, David was a great host. I will definitely consider this place next time I need to host a large get together in southern California.
We spent 4 days in this home over our fall break and found it to be a fantastic accommodation for two families with kids from 8-15. Our older children each brought a friend and this 5 bedroom home accommodated all 12 of us comfortably, giving us privacy but also ample space to be together. Additionally it had 2 gathering areas for socializing. There is the open area family room (where our older boys watched a lot of sports on the great tv in the evening) and a den area where our younger kids played cards and board games. The kitchen was wonderfully equipped and easy for many people to work in at the same time. One of my favorite things about this house was the closeness to the beach. David, the owner has a wonderful closet full of beach equipment including umbrellas, chairs, boogie boards and even a wet suit!! We were the best equipped family on the beach :) The location is also close to restaurants and shopping. We had a great trip!!
The Woodhouse is a beautiful centrally located house in prime La Jolla. Our family of 12 stayed for one week and enjoy the perfectly laid out living areas, the lush patio and gorgeous viewing deck in the back of the property. The kitchen is well stocked for family dining as well as entertaining. The BBQ grill and outdoor seating on the patio made each evening special. The layout of the property is perfect for a larger groups. Our favorite trips were to the Farmers Market on Sunday in La Jolla, La Jolla Shores Park for surfing, seal watching at Scripps's Park, and Torrey Pines for late afternoon walks.
Our group of 8 adults, including 5 siblings, stayed for a week in August and had a great time. 4 of the siblings were from the northeast and all were very impressed with La Jolla and the San Diego area. The house is in a great location with a short walk to the beach and to the village. The drive into San Diego is easy. The house was clean and spacious with plenty of room for our group and appeared just as it does in the photographs. It is equipt with plenty of beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. We made extensive use of the patio with a large outdoor dining table. David was a great host, very responsive to any questions we had about the house. He also gave us great advise on dining options and local attractions. Our group had a variety of interests that included bike riding, walking, tennis, beach days, sight seeing, whale watching and baseball. We would often spit up for the day and meet back at the house for dinner. The location made it easy do all of the things we wanted sharing 2 rental cars. We would recommend this property to any group looking for a large house.
We had a lovely time! David made sure we were comfortable, knew where things were, and answered any questions or concerns we had. We thoroughly enjoyed the patio area for family dinners and the living area was big enough for all 10 of us to gather and not feel crowded. The location was perfect: we walked to the ocean and the drive into San Diego was short and sweet. All in all, a great week!
This wonderful home - The wood house - was just perfect for the ten days stay with our four children in La Jolla. The owner, David, received us at the house and gave us a short but essential house tour. The house had all we wanted, but a few things stood out such as the super comfortable clean beds, large TV screen and ideal location.
The upper deck was a particular favorite with stunning views of the ocean and sunset. Highly recommended.
We rented this place for a family reunion. We had 3 families with small children and it was the perfect fit. One of the bedrooms is away from the others so it worked out great for the grandparents. David, the owner met us at the place and showed us around. He had a binder for us that included maps, where to eat, how to work the tv.... It was very well organized. We also had Apple TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.
The house was fully equipped with everything you could think of, which made it very comfortable. He even has beach towels, beach umbrellas, chairs,......things we didn't think of bringing.
The property is well maintained and very clean. Wonderful customer service!
We would definitely recommend this property!
We rented this property while our house was being renovated, and I can honestly say that I did not want to go home. Owner/host = great; house furnishings/supplies = great; location = great. This place allows you the rare opportunity to live in an architects art piece.
Stayed here with 5 women for a girls' weekend. Having our own bedrooms and 3 baths was great. It's rare to find a rental where all bedrooms have comfortable beds and linens. It was an easy walk to town with a beautiful view of the coast along the way. David welcomed us graciously and made sure we had everything we needed.
This beautifully updated 1951 mid-century modern home is an architectural gem and is exquisitely furnished. The description given for the property is very accurate – tons of natural light, access to the patio from nearly every room in the house and sweeping ocean views. The beds are extremely comfortable with linens to match, the huge TV and "Zero Gravity/Perfect Chair" heavenly and the huge master jacuzzi bathtub a pleasure to soak in. I would highly recommend this property, as it's close to the freeway as well as to downtown La Jolla. The owner has been responsive and helpful – from the initial meeting to walk us through the property to make sure we were familiar with how everything worked to restaurant suggestions – pride of ownership is evident. For anyone who loves clean, modern open space – this is for you!
We booked on very short notice for Thanksgiving Week. The home had just been extensively remodeled and updated and we were the very first tenants there. Everything was clean and just as the owner described in the listing.
The furniture was really tasteful, the Tempur Pedic beds were very comfortable(I have a bad back) and the location was great--Kellogg Park Playground and the beach were a few blocks away as was beautiful La Jolla. The yard was large and private and had plenty of lush hidden areas for the kids to play safely.
David, the owner, lived nearby and was able to quickly supply the few minor items that were lacking upon checkin. He was also prompt about returning the security deposit.
We would like to rent this property again.
I must say.. we were very impressed with the modern style and comfort level of this home. It is located close (short walk/drive) to the La Jolla cove, and even closer to La Jolla Shores beaches. From the outside the house appears small but don't let that fool you. There is plenty of room inside and out. We loved the hardwood floors and stone-work bathrooms throughout The courtyards around the home were great for entertaining, and the deck (up a short climb) was a nice touch. Views of the ocean from the kitchen, den, and deck, make it a great find! One of the more relaxing features is the back patio where you get the cool ocean breezes. We hope to make it back again soon!
