Quiet MIL in Downtown Kirkland
All the comforts of home await you in our quiet 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment on a private lane in downtown Kirkland. Kirkland is an upscale 'beach town' located 15 minutes East of downtown Seattle on Lake Washington. Lots of parks, shopping, bistros …
My wife and I enjoyed our stay so much. We have not found a more comfortable bed than the one at this suite. It was truly amazing after long days outdoors. The location was quiet and great. Jill was kind enough to stay up late and direct us to the property.
Great place to stay during our visit to Washington. It was well maintained, clean and comfortable. We had a restful sleep every night in there incredibly soft bed. The kitchen was well stocked and they even provided some refreshments which was nice. Great residential location and near to shops and 20 min to Seattle. Would definitely recommend for people doing long stays because it offers all the comforts of home that a standard hotel does not. Thank you!
First time with VRBO and everything was just as described and more! We loved the property and the owners made us feel right at home. We met them on own last afternoon in Seattle. Our trip was a spur of the moment because of family matters. Jill was very helpful making sure we had a place to stay for 4 nights and as luck would have it, her property was available!! We are looking forward to staying here on our next trip. I have told friends and family what a pleasure it was and recommended they give VRBO a try. Thanks so much to Jill and Rick.
We are regular customers all over the country on VRBO. You will not find more gracious hosts. The booking and payment are painless; everything is in order at the place. The MIL is spotless, and so very quiet. There was not one thing we could find they had not thought of or stocked. We give them five stars. If you need to be in the area for any reason whatsoever, you will not be disappointed with this jewel! Highly recommend!
We just got home from a week in Washington. We couldn't have found a better place to stay. Jill and Rick had all the comforts of home waiting for us including a bottle of wine. The bed was super comfortable as were the plush towels (I need to find out where she got them!). The location was perfect for all of our sightseeing. It was close to everything and yet each night we felt like we were coming back to a peaceful quiet sanctuary. We will definitely keep this bookmarked in case we are ever lucky enough to be back in the Seattle area. We would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a place to stay while visiting Washington.
Perfect place for us! Was just like the pictures. Impeccable taste in decorating and Jill had everything you could possibly want...including extra sweatshirts in the bottom drawer. Coming from SC I had forgotten what "chilly" can feel like on summer evenings. Wish I had gotten to know Jill better but our agenda was packed. Hope to return again and remedy that. It was great to have a place like this at the end of a busy day with family and friends just to unwind and recharge. Thanks for everything Jill! - Marge & Bill
Jill has a lovely, well appointed MIL apartment that offered me a peaceful refuge during my week in Kirkland helping a friend in need. A bottle of wine and chocolates welcomed me and a very comfortable bed provided a restful sleep. The fridge was well stocked with breakfast and snack items. The apartment is in a pleasant neighborhood where I enjoyed walking the hills and going down to the lake. I would definitely stay there again when next I'm in Kirkland.
We enjoyed your MIL very much. The Apple TV, area info list & LUCIA Restaurant were great! The plush sheets were also great. Thank you!
We were in town for several weeks to assist family with a newborn and toddler. Our last week was to be "on call" but nearby so that they could transition to independence with the demands of an expanding family. We stayed at this charming cottage under the main home. The photographs are absolutely true. The amenities provided were above and beyond the descriptions. We were both ill with coughs and curled up on the couch watching the "fire" (heater) and tv and feeling pretty good about everything, anyway! Naps (daily) were very restful.
The location is spectacular. It is ultra-quiet, private and cozy. Yet, close to all the action of downtown Kirkland and only 15-20 minutes from Seattle and an easy hop to Bellevue. The dining out options are endless. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. If our children delay moving to a larger home we definitely will be back for more home away from home!
Additionally, I'd like to mention that this place would be an excellent option for deaf or blind people. It is not wheelchair accessible. The fact that it is a compact complete home away from home would make it possible for those with limited walking skills. Shower is within a tub (advisory)
Jill was as lovely as her cottage! What a pleasant surprise! The cottage was beautiful and felt brand new. Super comfy bed! - and lots of extras such as a stocked fridge, plush towels, extra blankets etc. A truly lovely little place to stay.
Everything about the place is super nice. Bed, shower, appliances, you name it. You can tell Jill really likes to provide a good experience for whoever stays here. Just little things like a coffee, pistachios, bottled water and home-made cookies upon arrival were just a few of the nice touches that made us feel welcome. Couldn't have asked for a better home-base for our weekend trip.

What I love about the neighborhood is the proximity to the city and the lakes. Not only is Green Lake walking distance but Lake Union is minutes away driving.
I also like the fact that the bus line is right around the corner, there are three parks walking distance, tennis courts and a golf course.
Need to stock up on produce? We have a fruit stand up the street. Need a manicure or a good bite? Roosevelt strip is walking or bike distance away from the fruit stand.
The Metro is right around the corner from our home. You may get around by walking, bus, bike or car but I sure don't recommend car because traffic is just horrendous!
Please be aware that our well-kept old fashion home does not have central air conditioning (almost NO buildings--less than 5%--actually do). There is a window unit during summer months, and we do provide fans for your comfort.
