This is a good place to really get-away, especially from many of your electronic gadgets. We really liked the place for our 10 day stay while visiting relatives on the south end of the island. The following comments are not intended to be negative. We, along with the owners, want you to enjoy your visit and to not have unreasonable expectations. For example, our Verizon cell phones seldom worked. No problem. The land line worked well when needed. We did try the large flat screen TV once just to see what over-the-air reception was like. The WiFi kept us in contact with off-island family.
Please pay close attention to the pictures and descriptions. Except for the bedroom, most everything is approaching being 100 years old and is very compact. In fact the central core, the oldest part, seems like it could be from the late 1910's or the 1920's. There are still a number of small 2-3 room houses like the oldest part of this one hidden away on the island. The bedroom is a modern addition, appearing to replace a much smaller one.
We had deer as visitors on several days. The ancient plum trees had ripe fruit, very small and very sweet. The blackberries were just ripening. Our dog enjoyed the chance to run. Soaking in the hot tub under the stars was an interesting experience.
The cottage is adorable and very comfortable. The art and furnishings are very nice and create a cozy ambiance. We felt very much at home there and it was very relaxing. The grounds are expansive and we saw deer and many birds. Owls hooted at night and the stars were so bright. The kitchen is very well equipped and we made many nice meals, eating either on the back deck or in the nook near the kitchen. Overall a great experience and highly recommended!
Lovely and charming 1930s period cottage with all of the amenities needed
for a wonderful Whidbey weekend gettaway. It was close to many of the islands attractions and weather alternated between summer rain and brilliant sun. A game of overland croquet
while sipping a beer was a highlight.
