Central, lovely, spacious - 3 double beds, 2 baths
There's a feeling of spaciousness the minute you walk into this elegant apartment in downtown Buenos Aires, set in an historic, listed building. Delightful original features and high ceilings create a graceful ambiance with a view out to the oldest church in the city.
The large living room (superb for practising tango!), leads from the reception area into a cosy multi-media room. Down the corridor you’ll find a large, well-equipped dining kitchen and laundry patio. There are three bedrooms — one with en suite bathroom and each with a double bed — and a further full bathroom.
All amenities are there for you including cable tv, wifi internet, good cotton linens, kitchenware, as well as fridge freezer, coffee maker, microwave, washing machine and dryer, safe box, hairdryers, 2 televisions, plus air conditioning in the main bedroom and living area.
Montserrat is known as “la cuna de la patria” – the birthplace of the nation — so it is truly rich in architecture and history. Glorious Avenida de Mayo and the most important buildings in Buenos Aires are within easy walking distance of the apartment. So, too, is San Telmo – antique shopping paradise, bohemian vibe, Sunday market and tango in the streets; and Calle Corrientes – theatres, cinemas and bustling bookshops. Fine dining is to be had at nearby Palacio Español and Campo di Fiori (to name a few) and there is wealth of neighbourhood “parillas” and splendid coffee shops.
The streets in the immediate vicinity are the original centre for high class textiles and haberdashery. This listed building is called “La Hilanderia” and is Buenos Aires architecture at its best. On the ground floor is the palatial University of Experimental Cinema (INCAA) with enormous, beautiful doors, bevelled glass and a breathtaking foyer.
It's a breeze to get around either by Subte (underground train network) with Moreno station just the other side of Avenida 9 de Julio, or on the numerous local buses and taxis getting you to museums, art galleries, and other “barrios” of Buenos Aires.
Tango aficionados enjoy the location, since it's right in the centre of the action, with nearby milongas La Nacional, El Beso, Confiteria La Ideal, Niño Bien, Lo de Celia. There's also room to dance in the apartment with its original wooden floors – perfect for practising those boleos!
