Farmhouse-alpacas-fantastic views- miles of beach
Perched on a ridge with views to east and west, this original farmhouse is exquisitely sited on 740 feet of high bank waterfront on 25 acres overlooking Useless Bay and the Olympic Mountains to the west. and the Maxwelton Valley to the east. It perches like the eagles nest beside it taking in magnificent views of the sun rising over the steaming pasture and wetlands, alpacas grazing just outside the windows and velvet sunsets over the mountains and sound.
Leave the cares of the world as you ascend the driveway to the little red farmhouse. It's the simplicity of the place with the wonders of nature on every side that takes you back to the joy of discovery. Just one and one-half hours from Seattle and you"re in a different world. After a night or more in this heaven, you'll leave with a sense of well-being, and a renewed spring in your step.
The two story, 1990 sf original farmhouse sleeps 8 with 2 queen beds, and 2 single beds on the second floor and a double bed in the bedroom on the main floor next to the one family style bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped with a new glass top, two oven electric range, a microwave and full size refrigerator. Good selection of dishes, and cooking equipment including a great library of cookbooks.
The living room looks to views both east and west. There is a piano and great collection of books and games to entertain as you coddle under an alpaca blanket in front of the fire.
The house is surrounded by a cottage garden with roses, herbs and cutting flowers. There are large expanses of grass and native plantings. A few chickens roam the property and usually provide fresh eggs for that morning omelet.
The site has wonderful privacy as the nearest house is over 300 feet away to the north and south and on the other side of the Maxwelton Valley to the east. The west, of course is open to a huge view over Useless Bay and the mountains and miles of beach for walking.
The beach and wetland pasture attract a rich variety of local and migrating birds. There are never ending opportunities for observing the wonders of nature.
There is a herd of about 20 alpacas and two guard llamas. Alpacas are wonderful animals and entertaining to watch. The alpaca pasture is just outside the living room window and you can arrange to join the farm manager for morning feeding. This is an opportunity to learn about the wonders of alpacas and the alpaca lifestyle. There is a self service store in the dining room where you can buy alpaca products including the great Extreme Alpaca Socks made by the Alpaca Fiber Coop of North America (AFCNA)
The site is a beautiful place for an informal country wedding and we are happy to talk to you about your specific needs. Parking is limited so we prefer relatively small weddings so the parking doesn't overpower the site. We are happy to work with you on how to use the site and what supplies we have and what additional rentals would be needed to make your event special. Fees for weddings and special events are calculated depending upon the specific needs for the event.
