Quick & Easy access to Brown Line 'L'...walk to lots of conveniences.
If booked … I have other units … please inquire …
A quick walk to the Irving Park Brown Line 'El' stop … just 2 blocks! Situated in an extra wide Greystone building, this charming two bedroom offers plenty of light, lots of closet space, hardwoo …
When I travel, I like to immerse myself in the rhythm of a location. I love Chicago, and this serene, convenient apartment allowed me to experience it fully at my own pace. The L is close and easy to use -- pick up a 7-day pass and the city is yours. The neighborhood itself is pleasant and walkable, and I enjoyed heading out to Trader Joe's for food and wine. Yes, you will hear the train rumble through, but for me, that's part of the atmosphere, and certainly not a bother.
I agree with past reviewers that you need a little athleticism to step in and out of the tub, but this was not a major issue for me (and might not even matter at all if you are taller than my 5'3"!). It might prove difficult for someone with limited mobility, however.
In short, I have very fond memories of my stay in this terrific space, and hope to return soon. I would happily recommend it to anyone...unless the week in question interferes with one of MY visits, in which case I want dibs!
We stayed at this property the week of August 14, 2011. The apartment itself had plenty of room, was well furnished and had all the comforts of home. The walk to the metro was as convenient as advertised, and the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods between the apartment and downtown Chicago were all wonderful discoveries.
Only 'complaints' (which were not inconveniences for us specifically but worth nothing for other potential renters):
- Bathroom is clean, but small, with an old style tube that requires you to step in and out of the tub
- The metro line runs over the road, just a few houses down from the location - on arrival, you'll be startled by how loud the train is: when you close the door and are inside, you'll barely notice it after about an hour.
- If you're planning on spending a lot of time downtown, or around other areas in Chicago, the train ride can be crowded at peak times, and is about 30-40 mins to downtown - if you time your rides poorly, you may be standing for a while.
Bottom line, great place, extremely accommodating and friendly owner, and would stay again on a future visit. Thanks again Victoria!
My husband and daughter and I rented this Home Away while in Chicago recently. I am in a seminary program and needed a place for over a week. This garden apartment was spacious and fit our needs perfectly. Very clean and nicely decorated. Our biggest concern was that we did not receive cell phone service in the apartment but I understand that is common for Chicago. We did receive internet service but at times it was intermittent. Our other concern was that the temperature(heat/A/C) was controlled by the apartment above us. We were very cold during our stay, which was preferable to hot, since the city was experiencing heat warnings. The owner was very gracious and met us at our convenience to check in and did provide clean towels midweek. We would most likely stay here again and may next summer when I participate in my class again but will be aware of the few concerns we had. It is also very close to the "L" and metra which was noisy until we became used to the sounds of trains and then we did not notice it as much. That would be a wonderful convenience to those who did not want to rent a car while staying. The apartment is very close to Wrigley and in a wonderful neighborhood where we felt very safe. Parking is in the street and most nights we were able to park quite close the the apt.
Im very glad I rented this apartment. Victoria the apartment's owner is a wonderful woman, she gave us so many tips to know the city. Thank you Victoria!!
Totally recomendable!! Chicago is a great city and we could enjoy it a lot renting Victoria's apartment.
Regarding the property very nice and comfortable. Both bedrooms very nice with good beds. Nice living room!! Very nice apartment!! A good pleace to live when you want to stay some days in Chicago for holidays or business!!
Our stay in this quaint garden apartment was very enjoyable. Victoria met us at the apartment even though our plane was late and even went to the store and bought coffee for us to have in the morning! She was always accessible if we had questions or needs in the apartment. It was a perfect size for my husband and I visiting our daughter in Chicago, with a small bedroom for our daughter to stay with us if she wanted to. The kitchen was ample and allowed us to eat in some of the time and there are several grocery stores down the street. Victoria had good suggestions on places to eat in the area. Parking at the apartment was free and easy for our rental car, but the Brown line is near enough to walk to. Parking in Chicago can be expensive and difficult to find. (We got one parking ticket at a theater and it cost us $50.) Having a rental car though made it possible for us to see more of the Chicago area on this trip. The claw-foot tub in the bathroom is quaint and fun, but would be difficult for an older person to manage. I would highly recommend this apartment for a couple or at the most 3 people. It would be great for families visiting some of the local universities with a college age child.
