Centrally located flat, all Cascais attractions and beaches a short walk way
This is a great first-floor apartment in central Cascais. It contains two comfortable bedrooms — one double and one twin, with plenty of room for your suitcases and clothes, and cable TV in both rooms. The large sunny living area has comfy seatin …
The property is in a great location and is amazingly spacious. All the facilities are fantastic and lovely and clean. Having Guilherme meet you at the train station and walk you to the property is also a great touch to help familiarise yourself with the area. The beaches are great, the local ice creams fantastic, all the food was good but our favourites would be Paradigma (try and book ahead to get a balcony table) and The Chequers.
Sintra and Lisbon obviously both worth a visit.
Couldn't recommend this place any higher - we really loved it.
Our plan was one week of cycling in the area of cascais, sintra and lisbon. We found this apartment in the center of Cascais and it has been perfect. We, four adults with four MTBikes but that was no problem for the space in the apartment. It has two big bedrooms with godd beds and the rest of the house is fully equipped. You will find anything you want in the kitchen for meals and cooking, and the same can be said about the bathroom, with a good showet cabin and lots if towels. Really everything was ok in this sence. On arrival, our host had filled the refrigerator with bread, butter, milk, water, mermalade, cookies, tea, cheese, ham, some fruit and even a bottle of wine. So, You do nit have to go straight to the shops whixh is very nice. Furthermore, we had every help and easy contact with Gulherme who is the oerfect host. So, all well, a very nice apartment in the center of Cascais, a small walk away from beach, shopping center, port and the rest of the main areas of Cascais. The train and bus starion are only minutes away, so I can not reslly see anything negative. We will suely come back to this house if the ocassion arises. We have has a very good and happy week. Even the weather was better than espected. So thanks again to our host Guilherme. Best regards, Marco Mens & family.
We loved this cozy flat in the heart of Cascais, it was clean, comfortable and just the right size. We had no car so being in a walkable neighborhood was very important. This flat was just a few minutes walk from everything we needed and we stayed for three months. We particularly enjoyed our trips to the city market on Wednesday and Saturday morning. We did all of our shopping there, wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables and lovely flowers of every hue. Plus every kind of fresh fish and seafood you could ever hope to find. Not that we always ate at home, we were in walking distance of at least 30 restaurants and a short and inexpensive cab ride to many more.
The train to Lisbon was a ten minute walk away and ran three times an hour and was always on time, getting you there in about 40 minutes. Guilherme Pires was the best landlord helpful, considerate and always reachable by phone, text or e-mail. It was our first trip to Portugal and every wonderful thing we had read about the beauty of the country and the friendliness of its people was true.
The other reviews and listing description of the apartment are very accurate. The location is absolutely perfect and the owner, Guilherme, was extremely responsive and kind -- both in advance and during our stay.
We took our two kids (3-yr-old and 1-yr-old) on the trip and stayed at the apartment six nights. We walked to the beach (10-15 mins) and to the train/bus station (5 mins) for visits to Lisbon and Sintra. We did not rent a car and were happy with this decision. It was a 5-10 min walk to all parts of the main town center with a couple dozen restaurants and shops available.
It is not a luxury apartment, but definitely well equipped and plenty nice enough for our needs -- good kitchen supplies, beach toys, enough towels and sheets, baby cot and high chair for the 1-yr-old, etc.
The only reason we don't give this place 5 stars:
1. Bed mattresses are very hard. We mentioned this to Guilherme after a couple nights of poor sleep and he went out of his way to quickly buy and deliver a mattress topper for the master bed, which helped somewhat. But for apartment at this price, seems like slightly better mattress would be worthwhile. You may want to check in with Guilherme to see if this has changed since our stay.
2. Fairly thin walls so you can hear much of what going on in other apartments (but this didn't bother us too much).
3. Standing shower only; no bath (which we knew coming in), so not ideal with young kids.
For guaranteed quality place with terrific location and wonderful owner, this place is a great bet.
Our family of 4 arrived at the accommodation late on a Friday night, hungry and tired after our flight from the UK. I can't tell you how happy we were to see that the owner, Guilherme, had stocked the fridge with some essentials and left a platter of food and fruit out for us. This was typical of the kind of attention to detail that Guilherme displayed throughout all of my dealings with him. He couldn't have been more helpful or understanding.
The flat itself is comfortable and spacious. Both bedrooms are more than adequate in size and the beds are comfortable and there is ample storage for one's clothes. Both bedrooms have wall mounted tellies, which was a nice touch, in addition to the tellie in the lounge.
The living/dining area was inviting and large enough to easily accommodate our family of 4. The kitchen is galley style but by no means small and a pleasant place to prepare meals. There is more than ample cutlery, cups, plates, bowls, pots, pans etc. Unusually for a holiday let the accommodation had a large hall area which gives the whole flat a feeling of spaciousness.
The location of the property is absolutely ideal. You are literally seconds away from restaurants and cafes but without being right on top of them. You can walk to the nearest beach in less than 5 minutes and the long main beaches are only a further 5 minutes away. There is no need for a car as everything you need is walking distance, Lisbon is 25 minutes away by train, you can easily get a bus to Sintra.
All in all we really enjoyed our time in Cascais and the accommodation contributed largely to that. I'm so glad now we chose the freedom of this centrally located flat instead of something further out of the town centre. I can't say enough about Guilherme and the way he treated us. First class stuff.
lovely 4 person apartment, only one bathroom but apartment very well equipped with beautiful bed linen and loads of good quality towels. Lots of storage space. Comfortable quality furnishings and well-organised space. Brief incline to flat from central Cascais. Cascais pretty and welcoming town well-served by restaurants and good beach in Estoril/Lisbon direction, exciting cliffs to climb in Sintra direction. Teenage sons collected by Kite surfing school for tuition on Guincho beach. Excellent welcome pack left by owner. 5 minute taxi to Estoril casino with brilliant live saxophonist on Saturday nights.
We found this property very clean and well maintained, and had all the facilities that you would ever need for a great holiday. The position of the property is close to Buses/trains/shopping and the beaches.
I would also like to thank Guilherme for the excellent service he provided, especially for the food/drinks he provided on our first evening and for the help in booking a taxi for us for our return flight to Gatwick.
We found Casais to be more interesting than all of the other places in the Algave that we have previously visited.
We intended to visit Lisbon and Sintra but run out of time, looks as if we will have to come back for a second visit.
We would recommend this property.
The location is right in the centre of Cascais and a very short walk to the beach, restaurants, bars, the train station and shopping centre. The apartment is very clean and very comfortable with everything needed for a short or long stay. Guilherme was very helpful at all times and even left some food for us on arrival. This was much appreciated. We hope to visit Cascais again and would recommend this apartment to everyone.
