APARTMENT LOCATION: BARRIO de San Telmo
Located near corner of Defensa & San Lorenzo
One Block to Independencia & Defensa
This original 3 bedroom apartment is located in the traditional neighborhood of San Telmo. In its beginnings San Telmo was the cradle of the aristocratic families and the rich people, who left the neighborhood due to the Yellow fever in 1871. The big mansions that were abandoned were then occupied by poor European immigrants, creating the “conventillos” where the Tango was practiced. Still, San Telmo preserves its style, with narrow cobbled streets and big mansions that were restored to serve as restaurants or tango venues.
The neighborhood of San Telmo is the home of photographers, architects and painters that have their shops in this area. The center is the “Plaza Dorrego”, surrounded by antique shops that offer every Sunday, during the outdoor fair, hundreds of vendors with arts, crafts and clothing. In the afternoon starts the “milonga”, where talented local Tango dancers practice the Tango.
Every Sunday there the Outdoor Fair stretches for blocks in every direction. The streets are closed for this weekly attraction. When you walk out of the apartment building door – you are there!!
