Unique Houseboat Rental in Downtown Boston!
The Orion houseboat is a unique way to spend a weekend or a week in Boston. This fun and funky vessel is a 14' x 44' catamaran houseboat built in 1997. Docked right in downtown Boston at Lewis Wharf, this boat is within walking distance to all of …
I hesitate leaving a review, because I don't want too many to know of this wonderful place. The craft is surprisingly large and comfortable and the decks provide wonderful spots for relaxation.
The Orion has a nice sized living room, kitchen, and bedroom. All have real closets and places to store you luggages, shopping, and food.
My only criticism is that the furnishings are a little worn and dated. Everything else, including the host and management, are 100% ship shape!
I cannot imaging staying in a regular hotel in Boston again!
Spectacular location at Lewis Wharf, a short walk to the North End and Quincy Market. Breakfast each morning on the back of the houseboat with friends was wonderful. A little bit rustic, everything there that you need. One bed. One sleeper sofa. Air matress (tight fit). Looked for blankets the eond night which were waiting for us when we returned. All in all, a beautiful three days in Boston.
It was magical! We love Orion. Great roof top view. nice rocking motion to put us to sleep after a long day. Very clean. Great location. We walked everywhere.
Fantastic stay. One of the more memorable holiday stays overall and we travel a lot, all around the world and often in 5* facilities. What Orion may lack in terms of 5* hotel facilities it easily makes up with charm, the fab location and uniqueness - wouldn't have swapped it for anywhere else in town! We traveled with a 6 month old and everything worked out great, the baby seemed to love the gentle rocking of the ocean too. My only suggestion would be better instructions upon arrival (esp. after dark). Otherwise, fantastic stay and easily suited for a young baby in tow too. Rock on, sleep afloat!
We booked a stay on one of the boats Ryan manages for our stay in Boston. The night before we were to arrive, Ryan called to say they had a problem on that boat - a careless city-bred customer did not follow the "only toilet paper" rule and stuffed the toilets - and we could not stay there. Ryan offered us a 4* hotel stay in the harbor, or 1 night at the hotel and 3 nights at another boat. We accepted the latter as we do NOT like hotels (which is why we work with vacation rentals in the first place!). The hotel was fine and Ryan took care of valet parking for our car and the next day we transferred to another boat that another couple manages. Our stay there was superb and we have reviewed that wonderful boat and the couple who manages it on another site. We are writing here to say that Ryan made every effort to make our stay everything we wished it could be and we are very grateful. You can trust that you will be well taken care of, whatever happens. We had a wonderful boat-stay and would recommend utilizing houseboats and yachts for your vacations in harbor cities.
We had such a fabulous time on board Orion! We actually booked two boats for our family to stay on. This one as well as the larger boat the White Elephant. Even though the weather was still a bit chilly we enjoyed our time lounging on the roof deck while the sun was out. The boat itself is a little bit older but has a lot of charm and was spacious enough for our family of four. I loved that we had our own kitchen to cook and eat in. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to stay in downtown Boston.

Stayed 9/12-15th. What a great way to "see" Boston. Easy to get to once you figure out how (free MGH/Partners bus in front of the 24 hour convenience store) that goes to North Station. My daughter found this gem and I have to admit I was hesitant. But, would go back in a minute. Did not have two bedrooms but one bedroom and a pull-out in the living area. But that was OK. Have to get use to small bathroom facilities.

Very nice experience. We stayed 8/22-29/2008 and enjoyed ourselves. It was much better than a hotel room (same in every city) and once we learned to use public transportation we could get anywhere we wanted to. Keeping in mind that it is a old houseboat, they have done everything to make the stay comfortable and fun. Would do it again.

This must be what an infant feels like. Every now and then someone comes along and rocks your cradle ever so gently just to make you feel safe. Usually, on vacation, you can't wait to get out and get going. On the Float!, you just want to take your coffee outside and enjoy what God gave you...the sun, the sky and the water. Thank God we know Boston well, because we wanted to stay on board as long as we could in the morning doing just that. A minor mishap occurred because of a previous renter, but it did absolutely nothing to hurt our stay. It is spacious enough, clean, comfortable and delightful. I don't sail, so don't let that stop you from experiencing the houseboat. It's so gentle, you hardly notice the sway, and at night, when you're in bed, it's downright comforting. We had a wonderful 44th Anniversary on board and hope to celebrate our 45th there as well.
