North End Charm- 2 bedroom in ideal heart of Boston location.
If you are looking for a quiet, charming 2 bedroom in the heart of the North end, look no further. Unlike many in the North End, this condo is set back off the road in a beautifully renovated courtyard, that exudes so much 'North End' charm. Wal …
For a family of 4, this was a perfect property. It was clean, air conditioned and well looked after. Yes, it is up a few narrow and windy stairs, but it is in an excellent location in a very safe area of Boston.
We had a great time staying in this cozy two bedroom flat. It was a perfect location for us, who love walking around to take in local sights, foods, and history.
The flat itself was clean and bright. It has adequate kitchen wares for cooking small meals, and we enjoyed watching the lively birds in the courtyard out the window during breakfast. Because the flat's windows open to a courtyard, we didn't get street noise. The flat is up a lot of stairs, but we felt it was only appropriate to burn off some of those extra calories from all of the different pastries we had to try from different shops in the neighborhood.
The location was fantastic: about half way between the Old North Church and Mike's Pastry (amazing fresh cannoli) right along the Freedom Trail path, nearby to groceries, restaurants, and a quick walk to multiple T line stops. The neighborhood has an old-world feel, with small winding streets and small local businesses (especially foods), bustling at all times of day. We often returned late from a day of sightseeing and passed through the North End neighborhood still lively with people eating out at the many restaurants, and could still buy groceries at 10:30pm --even a 24 hour pastry shop around the corner with great cookies and some pizzas, calzones or bake-at-home casseroles, for the super night-owl types.
It always felt safe to walk in the area.
Also, there is a car rental place at the nearby Haymarket T stop (we did a day-trip to Cape Cod), and we rented bikes from a place a few blocks away to ride around the Minute Man bike-trail, and the "Emerald Necklace" park trails. On Friday and Saturday there was a farmer's market nearby.
The apartment is in an excellent location in the North End. It is in a courtyard off a quiet street, and outside noise is not a problem. Three flights of 15 stairs each to climb, though, which is good for fitness but might be a problem for some. The apartment itself is comfortable enough, but not luxurious - bathroom is very cramped, TV limited. Owner and her assistant friendly and helpful. We would certainly recommend as a place to stay if you want to be in the North End at a reasonable price.
The apartment was as described - part of a multi-unit townhouse tucked away in a quiet part of Boston's North End - yet steps away from all the fun and excitement that the area provides. The apartment was equipped with two rooms - one with a queen bed and another with a bunk bed (that really was a futon on the bottom and a twin on the top, pretty comfy!). The living room also has a couch that can be pulled out into a pretty large futon/bed. The kitchen was extremely clean and all the amenities (dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, etc) were present and pretty much brand spanking new. A supply of dishes and silverware was around for use. There is a breakfast area that can substitute for a dining area. Fresh linens were provided and the house was impeccable upon arrival. Fantastic deal for a short stay!
Excellent apartment in the North End area of Boston (with tasty italian eateries only steps away). Ample, comfortable and quiet sleeping for a family of 4. Freedom Trail sights and the T subway a short walking distance from apt. Excellent communication from owner regarding reservation and answering questions during our stay. Do not need a rental car when staying here - easy to just pick one up at the airport (short ride on T blue line) for the day.
If we're back in Boston, we'll definitely rent this apartment again. Strongly recommend to others (except perhaps those that may find 3 flights of stairs difficult to navigate).
"We had such a great experience with this property! The apartment was clean and in a great part of Boston. The owner also had suggestions for traveling through the city and other helpful tips. The whole process was very easy and enjoyable."
We stayed at this condo twice in the last year and loved it. We plan to go back again. You can't beat the location - right in the heart of the North End (read FOOD) - close to Fanueil Hall and the Aquarium. Despite the central location, the condo itself is very quiet and private due to it courtyard style. The furnishings are funnky and cute. The cleanliness is quite good. The neighborhood feels safe at all hours. The owner is attentive and responsive. The only warning I would provide is that the stair climb is a bit of a workout. Highly recommended by me and my family (wife and 2 kids).
I was here for 2 nights. I loved the location of this condo. It's located in the heart of the North End within steps of some of the best dining Boston has to offer. The listing description is very accurate on this property. It's just the right size and had all the amenities you need. I've already recommended this to some of my friends and look forward to staying here again.
Great location, in the heart of busy North End, but on a quiet courtyard.
Positives: the location in exciting, colorful, historic North End, with plenty of restaurants and good grocery stores (many with fresh produce) nearby, and only a 5-10 minute walk to Haymarket Sq subway stop; plenty of room, sleeps 4 comfortably (maybe more, in a pinch); well-equipped kitchen; closet space; generally clean; funky '70's style decor; good price for central Boston in the summer.
Negatives: air conditioners (window units), though necessary in August, were noisy; the apartment was on the top floor, up three flights of stairs (no elevator); building a bit run-down; though the building/courtyard were generally quiet at night (far enough away from busy Hanover St), there was a Saturday night rooftop party nearby that went into the wee hours.
I stayed there with my wife and two kids, for a conference and family vacation.
1. tones of must-go italian restaurants, bakery & gelato shops in the neighborhood.
2. walking distance to some tourist places such as aquarium, quincy market, etc.
3. actual apartment with a grocery shop within 3-min walk distance.
4. T-stations of various lines in about 10-min walk distance.
5. nice wifi speed.
1.It would be better if the owner stays near the apartment.
2.It would be better if the appartment has an elevator or my knees are stronger.
3.It would be better if T-trains move quicker.
4.It would be better if you do not have a car to park.
Overall, my family really enjoyed staying there.
I recommend this place to tourists without a car, a heavy stroller and luggage, and any urgent business appointment at downtown or conference area.
