If it is all about location, this apartment cannot be beat. It is in a great neighborhood, with easy access to downtown, transportation, restaurants, cafes, etc. The street it is on is quite lovely and very quiet.
The apartment is in the basement and feels as such. The main bedroom is on the "garden level" with the rest of the apartment, including the bathroom, one level below down a steep flight of stairs, i. This makes for an awkward situation. The other bedroom is in the basement level and has an uncomfortable futon rather than a bed. The kitchen is large with new appliances, but had few other amenities. The living area was small with another uncomfortable futon for sitting.
We had virtually no contact with the owner, except we were allowed to check-in a bit early.
Considering the price and location, this was a great value, but not as comfortable as we had hoped.
It was a good place to stay to explore Boston. The apartment was clean and tidy. However, we paid a fortune for parking in a close by Parking Lot. A tip on parking in the notes in the apartment/or even the e-mail confirmation would have came in handy.
Maybe a note in the description that the shower does not work comfortably for tall people (5'10" +). Unfortunately all 4 of us were tall and had difficulty with the shower. But again, if you are shorter than 5' 10" or love a bath, this will suit you very well.
Apart from the above, it was a great stay! I will definetely recommend to my "short" friends.
We enjoyed our stay.
Perfect for my stay in Boston. Cosy lower level apartment worked perfectly and Julia was a fabulous host and very helpful. Easy in/out and location can't be beat. Thank you!
Husband and I and our two teenage children stayed in August for 4 nights. The location and friendly service couldn't have been better and it was clean if sparsely equipped. We had to use all 3 beds with one person sleeping in the living room. Main bedroom was excellent where the bed was really comfortable. Unfortunately both the two sofa beds were less so. The subterranean feel was quite relaxing. Parking was expensive but some helpful hints from Julia gave us 36 hours free before we had to move the car to one of many multi-storeys. Definitely a good location (walked everywhere) but suggest that ideal occupation is 3 people or two couples. Loved Francesca's cafe for breakfast (fab French toast) and Steffi's on Tremont was also excellent and much better value than its appearance would suggest.
Welcoming, clean, close to everything and quite charming. We loved our little apartment in Boston. We would definately problem if we return in the corner, because it is really well located. Merci...
My wife and I stayed at this rental for a winter trip to Boston. The location is perfect with close access to many of the T lines and walking distance to great places in Back Bay, downtown, etc. The apartment itself has plenty of space, excellent amenities, and is in great condition. Most of all, the property manager is fantastic and will ensure you have a great stay while you're there. Highly recommended.
Very comfortable apartment in Boston. Our son was hospitalized at Boston Children's Hosp and it was pretty close, def a walk but by cab 5 minutes away. Close to downtown, shopping, the train, and also the airport. The only thing I would say is the futons are not the most comfortable downstairs but still very accommodating.
Julia was more than accomodating during a very stressful time. We got stuck in Boston during the Hurrican Sandy and Julia was able to extend our stay multiple times as we waited for our flights to be rebooked. We stayed with two young children and we all had a blast! I was able to walk to the Hynes Convention Center for my conference and felt safe even when walking in teh early hours (6:30am) and returning late in the night (10:00+).
Many thanks for the flexibility and the hospitality!!!
A very comfortable and fully equipped apartment in a delightful section of the city - tree lined streets with lovely, well maintained brownstones, easy access to any number of shops, restaurants, parking and public transportation.
Excellent location; many great restaurants around the corner on Tremont St.; short walk to the "T". Beautiful city, great sightseeing. Julia and her son were very helpful. Excellent wine store around the corner! Would stay here again, and recommend it to friends. Apartment was clean and well-maintained. Photos accurately reflect the apartment, although the lay-out is a liitle confusing (1 bedroom upstairs, the other down).
I really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. We were there for 4 days in August but did not need to turn on A/C. Our hostess Julia is very charming and accomodating. Her correspondence was clear and she gave very good instructions on how we could get in as we arrived at a very late hour. We got to the apartment and saw that the frig was stocked with a few items for breakfast and the beds were all set up ready for us to sleep on. THANK YOU SO MUCH, JULIA. The apartment is just as shown on the pics, and the neighborhood is very charming with older brownstone houses. We felt safe walking there at 1:00AM. Even though the nearby Tremont (St? Ave?) is full of nice restaurants with good vibes, Montgomery Street where the apartment is at is extremely quiet, it's a respectable neighborhood. The subway is about 7 minutes away (the web site says 10, I guess we walk fast) but the walk is through a nice area. The interaction with the management company is also straight forward and painless.
We would definitely come back for our next trip. As this is our college tour for our daughter, it would mean she has been accepted!!! One can always be hopeful.
Good accomodation in basement, especially use of garden to sit and eat etc.
Perfect stay for us. We were in for a conference at Hynes Convention Center and walked to all our conference events and tourist spots. Price was great & owner was very helpful (e.g. let me borrow her umbrella when it started raining). A clean place with all the amenities. I'd stay there again.

RECENT REVIEW: Review Submitted September 20, 2011 Date of Stay September 8, 2011 What a wonderful vacation we had in this excellent apartment. The decsription was spot on - it was spacious, extremely well equipped, clean and in a safe and convenient location. We booked the two bedroom option both of which had bathrooms. The two storey balconies overlooked the waterfront and we spent many happy hours enjoying the view. The apartment is within walking distance of the airport but we did not find any problem at all with aircraft noise - in fact we enjoyed spotting the aircraft as they landed/took off! There were a number of small convenience stores within easy walking distance and a very good little cafe serving pizzas to order as well as a number of other good dishes. The tube station was less than 10 minutes walk away and just one stop took you on to the main waterfornt - tip - buy a $15 card for the underground which gives you unlimited travel for 7 days - brilliant value. We loved Boston and found it very easy to walk and take in all the sights - and shops!! We spent a day at Cape Cod which was amazing and a day at Wrentham Village Outlet which is about a 50 minute run and worth a visit for the shopaholics. The apartment comes with a parking space which is a great bonus. We loved Quincy Market - just off the waterfront in Boston - a staggering array of food and aromas fill the air - well worth a visit! We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this apartment and its excellent owners to future users - Frank and Margo -Thank you for all your help and advice.
