The apartment is nestled in a redwood grove bordering Codonices Park. It comes with its own parking space. The Greek Theater and Memorial Stadium is a mile and a half down the hill (half hour walk, 7 minute drive). You can amble across the street …
My husband and spent a long weekend getting reacquainted with our 2-month-old grandson. The two bedrooms were perfect when either the baby or my husband wanted to nap and the ball games were on the large TV. The location was great for easy driving to dining (Gregoire, Philz, Saul's Deli) and the Thursday afternoon farmer's market on Shattuck across from Safeway. We strolled one afternoon to the rose garden. The park is literally next door and the beautiful trees added a restful quality to our visit. The parking in the rear of the place always had space for us.
The owners were very accommodating and quick to answer any question or request. We would recommend this place to anyone who would like a quiet getaway with many amenities nearby.
Having stayed at this place for the duration of several months, I can fully recommend it. For living in Berkeley, it is THE place to be.
The apartment is wonderful and the area in front of the fireplace the most cozy spot to be. The apartment is very nice furnished, clean and not even to be compared with the many crappy, dirty, old and disgusting places you will find around campus and downtown. The landlords are incredibly helpful and uncomplicated and will provide you with a warm welcome.
The apartment is located in Berkeley hills, the most beautiful, peaceful, safe and fancy neighborhood in Berkeley. Right in front of the Berkeley Rose Garden (a huge park with thousands of roses and the best sunset view in Berkeley) and directly at a park with sitting space and playgrounds for kids. A beautiful 45 minutes walk (with incredible views) away from Tilden Regional Park and Lake Anza, the summer swimming destination (there's also a direct bus). Safeway, the only real supermarket in Berkeley, can be reached within a 15 minutes walk, campus in 20 minutes. The famous Gourmet Ghetto, which hosts a large variety of exquisite restaurants and shops, is 15 minutes walking distance. The downtown Berkeley Bart station is a 30 minutes walk or five minutes bus ride. This is by far the best location you could get.
The apartment is located in Berkeley HILLS, so a car can be useful. However, I didn't even consider buying one, as everything is reachable by foot and bike. Plus, there is public transportation right in front of the door. For Cal students, public transportation is included in tuition fee. For doing large amounts of groceries, I once in a while took a cab (5$).
Overall, I think there is no better place to stay and upon return to Berkeley, I would always pick this place :)
