S.O.S I will visit the city center of New York from 07-16/03/2013. I need a place to stay with my 2 adult children (25-27 y). i am a middle aged woman from Belgium, living in Crete, Greece for the last 28 years. If any one is interested in an exchange for the island of Crete, or can suggest cheap accommodation, or host, all info is welcome. I offer a villa for 4 persons out of high season (May to September) for non simultanous exchange or a studio for 2 persons for a maximum stay of 3 weeks at any time which could suit you. Thanks for feedback and some tips.
My husband and are visiting San Francisco in May to see grandchildren and want to rent a nicely furnished large studio or one bedroomed apartment in the Richmond district/Seacliffe area of San Francisco. Can anyone help please?
For the last leg of our Trans-Siberian railway journey, we spent almost three days in Beijing. There we enjoyed seeing the city’s modern architecture, soaring skyscrapers, colorful shopping districts and first-class hotels. Towards the end of our visit, our guide reminded us that we had one more urban adventure on the agenda – a visit to Beijing’s Hutong district aboard a bicycle rickshaw. I wasn’t sure what more there was to see in the city, so I looked at him with puzzlement. Alas, the guide said, you haven’t really seen Beijing until you have wandered through its old, narrow neighborhoods – the Hutongs – from the perches of a rickshaw! So off we went to an area of Beijing, near a small lake that had hundreds of colorful bicycle rickshaws parked along the water’s edge. Each was decorated a little ...

My husband and I are senior citizens who will be traveling around Hungary in March 2012. Would like to meet people living in Budapest who enjoy sharing their ideas of Hungary with us in English. We enjoy walking, going out to dinner, and participating in local cultural activities. We have learned a few Hungarian phrases, but perhaps you could help us correct our pronunciation..
Will be traveling to Southern California and up the West Coast to Portland Oregon in very late May and through most of June, I-70 out to Canyonlands area, then to Las Vegas and then to sister's place in San Jacinto, CA. We will then head to Big Sur for a couple of days, then on to Yosemite for another couple of days. Our trip will continue from there to Portland, taking a couple of days to get there. Will be in Portland (somewhere) for 5-6 days visiting with our son, he can't accomodate us, so we will be seeking a place to stay there, hopefully in the northwest section of the city. We will then head back to Michigan via the I-80 route.

I just hit another milestone in my "life as a retiree" milestone list: I wrote a blog post! I shared my tips on 4 favorite Mexican food dishes you can make from Thanksgiving leftovers on the Tripping blog. Hope it inspires some of you. Happy Thanksgiving weekend everyone!
This should be interesting :) I've been a poster on the Lonely Planet Thorntree for about 8 years and have made a lot of friends around the world through that - visiting many of them in other countries. This past year, 2011, has seen us spend about 7 months on the road in our campervan. Canada, US and Mexico. From Mexico City we flew to Ecuador for a month.
For the next few months we'll be lying low here at home because I am having my second knee replaced - so much fun. But I survived it once before and so I shall again. The results are worth it - another 30 years of traveling I hope. But I do have something to look forward to. We have booked a small RV out of Johannesburg from May through July next year. We are planning to travel around South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. So if there are any members over there ...speak up. We'd love to meet you.
In the meantime, we are located very close to Vancouver, BC. So if anyone has questions about this area or are visiting and would like to share a coffee with a local, I am sure I can rustle that up :)
My wife and I are looking to do a trip to the West Coast, particularly Big Sur and in Portland Oregon, sometime in early to late June 2012. Would Tripping work in that kind of a situation. Any unique spots or people that might share their home?

I'm thinking of visiting Miami area this winter. Maybe a three day cruise and just a little sightseeing in the area. Any pointers for me would be so helpful as I have never been on a cruise or visited this area. Thanks.

Thrilled to be interviewed for the Tripping blog! Fellow AARP members, you are all welcome to visit me and my husband in both of our homes - on the Central Coast of California and in Central Mexico. Mi casa es su casa.
My granddaughter came to visit me in Winsdor a couple of weeks ago and we had a good root around my vegetable garden for a little tripping inspiration! The weather here was not wonderful but a better day made by the lovely fruit crumbles we made after this photograph was taken.

Hi, I just signed up for tripping, and I need to know how to get started. I have hosted students for over the past decade, and it has been a great experience. I have been able to travel to Europe twice for an extended amount of time, and had big fun. I am open to finding out more information about this exciting opportunity.
